BMW M4 v AMG C63 S vs Lexus RC F v old M3 & C63: DRAG RACE

It’s time for a battle that crosses the generations! Mat’s in the Lexus RC F Track Edition, a sports car with a 5.0-litre V8 and 477hp! It’s taking on the BMW M4, with its 3.0-litre, turbo, straight-six engine and 431hp, and the 510hp, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8-powered Mercedes-AMG C63 S! But that’s not all - we’ve also added in the Germans’ predecessors! There’s the BMW M3 E90, which has 420hp and a 4.0-litre V8, as well as the AMG C63 W205, powered by a 6.2-litre V8 with 457hp! It’s old vs new, so which of these five is your money on?

    • I have a naturally aspirated lexus GS 430 v8 with the aftermarket silencer and it sounds much better than the mercedes AMG E 63 S, the turbos spoil the sound a lot, while the old amg are much much better they have a specific sound

  • Those older V8 engines are some of the best V8s ever created. The aggressive rough sound of the 6.2-L V8 in the older C63 just sounds so good, it's like a freaking muscle car engine, and that 4.0-L V8 in the older E90 M3, we all know sounds amazing with its 8200 RPM redline, making that engine scream loud as heck.

  • I watched this video a year ago, and just bought a w204 c63 coupe this past week. After getting it home, I sat down and stared at it for half an hour before crying. Truly an epic car, sounds fantastic, its extremely planted and the steering reminds me of the e36 m3 I had in terms of feedback. If you want one of these, go buy one because they won't get any cheaper and are incredible value for the money.

  • Old c63 easily wins the exhaust battle. Also, the 6.2L V8 in it is a detuned version of the SLS supercar, which would explain a lot about the performance

    • The C63 6.2 was around before the SLS, so it’s more accurate to say that the SLS had a tuned up version of the C63 engine

Im not saying you can't fuck up the start but believe me when I tell you my sister can do a consistent 1/4 mile time in this car. The person commented this haven't driven a car like this, and also you.

    • @@BlitzkriegRap traction control must be turned off to get the best launch and time otherwise the computer will reduce the power coming to the tyres to gain traction. so you do need skill to launch a RWD car without it wheelspinning all over the place

  • Approximately 50 bhp between old and new C63/C63S but a pretty big difference in weight - amazingly the old one with a 6.2 engine weighing in 165 kg less (or 363 LB) no wonder it did so well and SOUNDED EPIC !

    • W204 last year was 2015 not 2013. Pre facelift 2008-2011 can be found cheap but if they didn't have their headbolt issue fixed that's alot of money still needed to be spent.

    • ApocGuy yeap as far as I know now 63 AMG will have a 2.0L engine. Hope not true😏 in my opinion they should produce again 6.2L in small amount and customers are gonna pay taxes. Gonna be less big engines with taxes but at least they gonna exist

    • @@isiahmeti4817 2.0? you sure? this is madness. i dont care if it has 500 horses under the hood, there is no substitute for bigger volumetric displacement of engine. i wont diss 2.0 and 2.5 engines(after all, audi and vw were damn tuneable- up to 1000 horses), but for long lasting engine, there is no replacement to high displacement engines. sad future we're strolling into :(

  • @carwow Matt you say it's a RCF Track Edition. A RCF Track Editio has a carbon fiber bonnet and a large rear spoiler. Wouldn't have made a massive difference but would have done better. I mean the 0-60 times are about 0.4 difference between the 2 so I am sure the quarter mile would have been a bit better too.

  • I have a W204, but it's a simple C300. No exhaust note, and with a detuned C50 engine... Even with just about 250/250 hp/ftlb, it is a lot of fun to throw around. They are pretty reliable and I expensive these days. Plus, that body style is it for me. I highly recommend a W204!

    • Well to be honest the alert did say "drive modestly". When your pads are worn out you shouldn't do brake testing, doesn't mean that you wont be able to break in an emergency (unless your pads are completely gone, in which case nothing can help you).

Here in Australia you can get 2nd hand c63s for 100k( almost half the price,2017 model). The car selling websites are flooded with them cars because they are thirsty on fuel, underperforming and with heaps of issues.

    • Owned one, a 2009 C63 with the PP. Skinny 265 rear tires, rubbish gearbox, engine consumes oil as much as gasoline, etc. Nice engine noise and response, but you need it in a better chassis and gearbox (manual!)

    • TH BULLDOZER I’m here for both. Used to own the old C63 and just bought an M4. Just like I thought, the M4 performed slightly better but the old c63 held it’s own and it’s sound is otherworldly.

    • it still breaks the same but you are supposed to be more carefull with it until you reach the next mechanic also these sensors react way bevor the brakes actually come close to be thinn, like they still have 25% material left

  • Old 63. It will go down in history as having one of the best engines to ever squeeze itself into an engine bay on a street car. It won this test on the sound of it alone. In a real street race, that burble is going to have many competitors fold their hand.
