  • On June 16 2023, a month after this film was a released, Jim Tweto, the pilot, passed away in a plane crash. Shane Reynolds, passenger and hunting guide was also lost in the crash. Courageous men. They died doing what they loved. Please send your thoughts and prayers to their families. They deserve all the love and support in the world.

    • @@nickweborg9485 I was hunting out there outside of Unalakleet from May 25-June 11. The terrible accident happened around 11:40 am on June 16th the morning after the last hunter filled his tag. Base camp was set up on a ridgeline, the only place to land in that area was on the slope of the hill leading up to the ridgeline. That base camp is hunted out of fairly often so Jim was used to landing there, despite it being treacherous. The crash happened as they tried to take off down the slope and failed to lift up off the ground. We don't know the cause of the crash, but AK state troopers should release a report outlining the potential cause in a few months. From what I've heard, friends and fellow pilots of Jim think it was a mechanical issue that caused the crash. Please keep Jim, Shane, and their families in your prayers. God bless them. Here are some articles that are accurate. This video below covers the details very well: kzhead.info/sun/aJWSe6aPjaqkkoU/bejne.html www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2023/06/18/flying-wild-alaska-pilot-jim-tweto-dies-plane-crash/70334333007/ alaskapublic.org/2023/06/20/ntsb-responds-to-crash-that-killed-longtime-bush-pilot-jim-tweto/

  • When I turned 30 years old in 2018, I decided to go carve out a life for myself in the mountains of Alaska. 5 years later, I run my own dog mushing yard, I hunt my own meat with a compound bow, and I am constantly seeking the next adventure… always wondering what’s over the next ridge. Cam had a LOT to do with my decision to take that leap. Grew up with a Dad that was never around, and I had to choose my own heroes and role models as people I wanted to be like, and Cameron Hanes was one of the people who’s message and mission really spoke to me. Thank you for all that you do, Cam. You’ve made a big difference in the lives of a lot of men like me, just by being who you are.

  • My older brother took his son out deep into Alaska's backcountry this last season for mountain ram. After 21 days and 60 miles, they were successful. He is 65 and my nephew is in his mid 20's. I am not sure at this time if anyone else was with them but I doubt it. My grandfather was a mountain man here in the PNW and while I was too young to join them, my brother was lucky to gain the experience he taught. This video is a great reminder to me of a life that's fading away. I'm sure my brother and Cameron would be great friends. Thx cam

  • To Cam. I am a fellow hunter and outdoorsman. I respect your determination. What seems to be wrong is that there is a lack of awareness and respect for taking this bears life. During the video you say "no rifles". Once the bear was dead you can hear that your unhappy with how the animal had to be killed with rifle, that's seems to be coming forming your on ego. Because It didn't fit into how you wanted the story to go we now have a dead bear with people around having to justify to you why they shot it rifle. The point is if your going to kill an animal have respect. If your not going to be happy then don't take the animals life to begin with. If your ok with death then walk into that thicket alone, with no rifles. Instead of staring over this dead bear unhappy.

I don't know how else he could've made his presence felt, but to ensure that you walk away unscathed - your destiny remains unchanged, because you still have your guardian angel by your side - Roy still wants you to share and be around to inspire - in doing so, you'll succeed and make mistakes along the way as well, like we all do, but your heart's in the right place and that's all that matters - keep the faith & Keep Hammering... Branlin Shockey! this is a phenomenal piece of filmmaking and it inspires me to tell stories again - thank you so much for sharing Kip Fulks! anytime Morgan Freeman wants to retire, he can rest easy knowing that you got his narrator jobs covered - powerful words throughout my friend & that snuggly pillow adds a unique charm to this broad & earnest portrait of masculinity

  • Wonderful piece of film. Thank you Cam for inspiring me to pickup a bow start the journey. It's been a rough handful of years and the time spent figuring out the woods and deer has helped me through it all. I'm not sure I would have ever started without being exposed to your passion for bowhunting.

  • Men without courage live in fear. Roy was a man of courage as are you Cam. I could feel the struggle that you had to endure to return to Alaska, be in Roy’s home with his family, and to hunt this apex predator without your best friend. God Bless!

  • I can only imagine how amazing it must be to grow up near mountains 😢 Cameron and the Guys did a fuckin amazing job filming this, it really is inspiring just to watch the way this was filmed and the brotherhood and love for the outdoors you all share. Very jealous of y’all it’s a dream of my dad and I to bow hunt even in the realm of these guys. One day ☝️ I’ll be able to take my dad on an Elk trip, after recently losing my mom a month ago on my sons birthday this really hits home for me. Even made me emotional seeing Cameron go thru the same things I am, processing all those memories.

  • No joke but much being said here is not true. The plane got you there, engineers made your bows and equipment. You are camping with modern materials crafted by many men and women over decades. You/we have advantage as we have never seen before. Hunters have never seen it so easy.. Of course effort and intelligence is huge and Cameron is a master class in fitness and diligence so never a take away from him. Everyone should read the Louis and Clark adventure from 1804.

  • Much respect to Cam for showing a side of hunting that so few of us get to see. The love of the outdoors, the love of the challenge, and the love of the brothers that walk beside you on the trails and along the mountain ridgelines in search of wild animals. That love for your brother, mentor and best friend sings out through this whole production, and brings honour to his memory. And respect to Branlin Shockey for a beautiful, moving production reproducing this hunt.

    @finksburg7380@finksburg7380 Жыл бұрын
  • This is a prime example why guides up here hate bowhunters, and the fact that you sat there trying to finish it off with a bow while you got four other dudes behind you in the brush with a wounded bear is total bullshit and egotistical.

    • Amen! All the modern tech of a modern soldier against an animal chewing on berries! And the bear would have won the battle if not for a rifle backing him up.. senseless violence for false sense of self.

  • Love the video, but just one thing I took away from it. That guide saved your life and maybe I didn't see it, but I don't recall you thanking him. If you didn't want it to end that way, why would all these people be involved. I almost felt like you had a death wish and it didn't seem fair to those other men. Again, I appreciate your work. Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. Psalms 139:16
