Evelina Landova - From a Rich Czech Girl to a Tortured Prisoner Enslaved by the NAZIS - Auschwitz

2024 ж. 15 Нау.
204 750 Рет қаралды

Evelina Landová arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau in December 1943 after having spent 1,5 years in the Theresienstadt Ghetto. Evelina was sent to the camp together with her parents leaving her pregnant sister Lisa behind in Theresienstadt. While at Theresienstadt life was worth something, at Auschwitz-Birkenau however this was no longer the case. Birkenau, the largest of the more than 40 camps and sub-camps that made up the Auschwitz complex, served as a center for the extermination of Jews.
Unlike other transports from German-occupied Europe, deportees from Theresienstadt did not have to pass the selection. After men and women were separated, the prisoners took a cold shower in the so called “Sauna”. Then they were given old civilian rags and worn shoes, not striped uniforms as the rest of the Auschwitz prisoners. Afterwards, all the prisoners were tattooed on their left arms. From that moment Evelina was not called by her name anymore; she became only a number: 71,266.

  • It is extremely hard to find a word which shows how precious are these documentary clips. GOD bless all the people who saved these for humanity to watch over and over. First for the sake of these most innocent people whose their lives parished in this horrible way and for the all the future generations to see whats can happen when Evil conquers the world! And to see what a great great heros were the Allies who fought this greatest war and saved us all ... and never forgot 55 million people killed to achieve that VICTORY.

  • I am part German. Our family came over to Amerca way before WWII. So, it is awful to see how the people, the Jewish people, were treated by the Germans, since I myself have a connection through ancestry. One has to ask, who is really the animal in these circumstances, the people being treated like animals or the people doing it to them. The answer is obvious. No one deserves to be abused like this. Shame on the Germans. How atrocious. How EVIL what happened and what was done. I am also part English in my ancestry, and the English along with the Americans beat the Germans, thank goodness.

  • That's exactly what was happenning throuought the history - mistakes were quickly forgotten and repeated. Today, at German schools, they no longer teach about Holocaust as a Nazi crime but a common treatment of Jews by all European nations, Germany being just one, minor part of it. Also the term "Polish concentration camps" was designed by Germans for a good reason. Germany and Russia are NOT sorry, did NOT learn a lesson and are NOT anti-fascist!

  • In 1967 we were all told to go to the audiovisual room to watch several mandatory films about WW2. One was about the Holocaust but back then, to the average person it was not known as that. We were all shocked by seeing the skeletons in the ovens which had not been fully burned when the camp was liberated. Stacks and stacks of bodies, it was so horrible, I still remember it well in 2014. Seeing this I still find it hard to take in, why people would do this to other people. The horror of it all came to be known to the American GIs as why they had fought the war. Seeing this, and knowing that the Soviets and Japanese were just as bad, followed soon as the Moaists' Cultural Revolution, I wonder why so many terrible, ghastly things happened around the world in the northern hemisphere at one time. For the Nazis and the Soviets, it was Darwin's theory of the fit survive while other's don't, and to Hitler and Stalin that was put into intentional practice now known as Social Darwinism.

We do not persecute people for the way they live or the god they worship. We are all equal and we all deserve a chance at a happy existence. The Nazis will go down as one of the most evil regimes in human history. They will never be forgiven. The victims will never be forgotten.

  • Very moving and well presented. However your declaration of a rising nationalist sentiment in Europe is hardly that of ethnic superiority. I would suggest it’s more against Islamization and Globalism. Oppression doesn’t only come from the right. Many more people were liquidated under Mao or Stalin. These supposed leftists being so far left, they became the far right fascists. Life is like the planet, circular. Rather than hold fast to any ideology, we must examine everything for its value of love, truth, harmony and honesty. This is the way to avoid such a repetition but don’t forget that an end to the camps was brought about in the end by an opposing force of arms.

  • Horrific and terrifying hellish places. These concentration camps are huge! And remain intact. Terrifying to consider the brutality and evil against families and their children! Unbelievable that the rest of the world did not know this was happening. Or did they?!!!!
