🟢 Note Regarding the Celtic Sea Salt Mineral Analysis:
The mineral analysis used in this video for Celtic Sea Salt was from a report 15+ years old. The analysis that is now provided on the website & packaging has differing values. The company website says they test for over 70 elements and get about 60 back in readings. There is no reason to doubt this. However, the current analysis given does not provide the full spectrum for viewing, only partial. Additionally, the values are presented in percentages without a given serving size. Due to these information gaps, I chose to use the complete, older analysis in the video comparison. Is the older analysis irrelevant? I do not believe so. But as stated in the video, the values for all 3 salts are a generalization since it is near impossible to have the exact same values for each shaker of salt. Natural products have natural occurring variances. The bottom line is this, all the salts covered in the video have a broad spectrum of trace minerals and elements that meet or exceed 60. If you wish to crack the case with your own research between the new and older spectral analyses, the pleasure can be all yours!

Greetings from Pakistan. Himalayan salt also comes in black, white and the rarest is brown/copper coloured. Alexander the Great's horse licked the rocks around Khewra Salt Mines, so it has been around a long time. There is also an asthma treatment centre inside the mines as the salty air has healing benefits for asthmatics.
Can you please tell me about lead, mercury and arsenic in the pink salt? I have used it for years and love it, but I am getting people telling me it's contaminated. I would like to dispell these rumors. Australia has told their citizens that it shouldn't be used.
@@joyful_tanya I would not trust what your 'government' or mainstream media has to say about anything. The same goes for me here in the US and pretty much every other place in the world. This is because our 'governments' do not want us to be healthy.
@@joyful_tanya I have never heard such things and I have not seen any laboratory tests - but I think it would be a very worthwhile undertaking. I have visited the Khewra Salt Mines where the pink salt comes from and it is very pure. There are certainly no microplastics or modern contaminants in it. A small railway takes workers and visitors 1 km inside the mountain which is amazingly entirely salt. Literally everything is salt and like marble it has patterns - some is pink, some black, some white and a tiny amount amber. It certainly looks pure. Inside the mountain is a clinic for asthmatic patients and there are several bathing ponds for different types of healing. It is quite massive. This is not the only salt mountain as it is part of The Salt Ranges which has salt everywhere. I have hiked in other mountains a long way away and also found high salt content in rocks there too. The geologists explanation for how all this salt formed lacks credibility to me and does not stand up to questioning, so its really a mystery why the mountains of salt are there. The wholesale price of salt is also very cheap - maybe 50 cents per kg, so unfortunately the workers don't earn much there.
@@DestinationTravel WOW! I had read about it but your explanation and description is fantastic. Thank you very much for explaining. I'm so very sorry that the workers are not paid a living wage for such dangerous work inside the salt mines. Maybe the contamination comes from the processers, if there is any. We purchase it in ground form either coarse or fine or sometimes larger crystals. Someone must purchase from the mines and grind it, package etc. But they're making a lot of money compared to the poor worker. Thanks again! ❤️

For me, the gray Celtic sea salt tastes the best. It’s absolutely delicious, although I like Redmond’s too.
I agree. I like Redmond’s but it doesn’t completely dissolve in hot water when I need to make a brine for fermenting veggies. Also, when I use it in casseroles, even the fine salt, there are always crunchy bites. I still use it, but I prefer the Celtic.
Magnesium tastes Great, if not oxide. Celtic has more magnesium, but what kind?
Alot of lead traces In Celtic
It’s all of the micro plastics in the sea salt that make it taste so good 😂😂😂😂😂

I add a pinch of salt to my drinking water. I use pink salt, and I've used my daughter's Redmonds salt. My pink salt dissolves completely but the Redmonds always leaves sands/particles that do not. For this reason, I like my pink salt better.
I bought all three and mixed them together. That solves any problem.

Micro plastics in sea salt. Bad news.
@chrismyers9951 Bad news: micro plastics are unavoidable. You can minimize how much you consume, but you cannot escape it.
Micro plastics are in your environment, homes, clothes, foods. The list is endless and it's impossible to avoid.
😂😂😂 o may. It is possible that micro plastic is in sea salt. So what. If you are pannicing about everything you eat or drink the best think you can do is to die. Stop thinking this way because sich thoughts can kill you. Don't forget that human body is such a sophisticate machine that is possible to hell itself if you don't disturb this proces with toxic thoughts. They are poissoning us for centurys but we are still here.
I actually use a salt mixture of Redmonds and Celtic Sea Salt in my salt shaker. 😊
Redmond salt convert here. Absolutely love the sharpness in the taste. To me, after using multiple types of salt over the years, I've come to use Redmond as my go-to salt for everything. Excellent product
I'm a huge fan myself! I started using it at the advice of a functional medicine doctor I follow, & it is well worth the extra money vs table salt. This video confirms my thoughts on it!
I used to get it for free since my brother in law worked there.
I've been buying Redmonds for 31 years. It used to be a lot cheaper. I really like the flavor and while I've tried others, it's still my go to :).
Celtic Sea Salt is my go-to! I really appreciate the breakdown of information you gave, especially in regards to the minerals. This video was truly excellent!
I agree. It has helped me come to the conclusion that the difference in mineral values is minor enough that it really makes no difference from a health standpoint. That said, different people may find that their individual taste buds prefer one over the other, and mineral values may be a component there. The bigger and more likely question is, are those taste preferences a result of actual differences or perceived differences, or are other factors such as grain size and density bigger factors?
I stopped doing sea salt after learning about all the micro plastic and any other sea pollutants, at least they test for some heavy metals
What about your iodine? None in Celtic
baja gold salt is probably the best in the world
Different flavors from each but I support Redmonds. I lived in the area and knew many of the families and the owners of the mine. The bentonite clay is also great. They are honest, use third-party analysis reports, and are 100% American. They have really grown in the last 20 years. My only gripe with them is that they now cover their trucks so the salt rocks don't fall on the side of the farm roads when they make turns. No more free salt for us, LOL, but they are usually more affordable compared to the others.
😂funny story about the free salt hahaha I wish I could visit Utah and the mine one day. We have been using RS for at least 15 years now.
Redmonds, all the way. Sad about losing that sweet free salt, though.
I lived in West Africa as a child and the salt fields in Senegal were really cool to watch.

My horse loves the Redmond Rock. It's a rock of salt that hangs on a fence post by a rope. It's great for getting horses to drink more water, important in avoiding colic.
Pink salt gives me a rash. It took me a long time to figure it out. I finally found out that the pink color is caused by decomposed crustacean shells. I didn't know I was allergic to crustaceans until I found out about the pink salt giving me an itchy rash, mostly on my stomach.
How did you manage to figure that out ? It is said the pink maybe the red is from natural Iron in the salt. That would mean the pink from crustaceans makes Himalayan salt not kosher? Not sure.
@@reccocon3442 ~ I found it out from my daughter who is a certified dietician and healthcare professional. She told me that there are millions of people who are allergic to crustaceans, and she recommended that I forgo using the pink salt for awhile to see if the rash would go away, so I took her advice and within a week or two the rash went away. I had been suffering with it for months.
@@jimyost2585 That is not proof, that is circumstantial evidence. Rashes come and go and your personal experience is useless. Stop eating dead muscle tissue maybe... and NO the red does NOT come from shells. Jeez. Maybe your daughter just read a few old books and got a stupid degree in nonsense. Maybe.
Thank you.
If dissolved and then pink water it could be dye and that can cause rash but I would assume you did this but for others to read.
We use Redmonds and we love its flavor best. Just the issue of transportation and the number of companies processing other salts would win the argument for me. Redmonds also has the BOMB smoked salts. They were a game changer for my family not only on meats, but almost everything. They are pricey but just as pure.
I didn't know about the smoked salt. I'm definitely going to try it ASAP. Thanks for mentioning it!
Me too!! Thank you!
Where do you find redmonds salt? We use himalaya salt. Geena
I love their chili lime salt on melons
@@christaj1754 😳I need that! Is it like Tarjin?
I have used all of them and keep coming back to celtic because of it's robust and not overpowering flavor.
Celtic is my favorite,… and interestingly it's least in sodium and chloride. I live in San Diego.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate this, both as a geologist, and someone with POTS. My doctor has recommended I have about 8-10g of salt a day, and I have realized that I really need an increased amount of potassium and magnesium as well. The fact that Redmond's doesn't have either of those 2 is incredibly helpful to know
Error on these values is noted in description. Redmonds does contain Ca, Mg and P. Please see given values in description.
I am pretty sure that salt shouldn't be your source for potassium and magnesium supplementation.
1/2 cup Redmond, 1/2 teaspoons magnesium glycinate, 1& 3/4 teaspoons KCL (potassium chloride). I got the info from Mary’s Nest you tube title: The Easy Way To Make Homemade Electrolyte Drinks And Sports Drinks

I live in South Africa - most of our pink Himalayan pink salt is repackaged and sold by all sorts of distributors and few give place if origin. I believe there is a lot of contaminated pink salt and we are unable to tell the difference
Thank you for the info!
Where can l get redmens salt
@@marjorieharrington4953can be purchased at a health food store or online.
Agreed. Unless you are buying Himalayan salt from a company large enough to purchase it directly from the mining company, it probably goes through a lot of hands before the consumer gets it. Every stop, shipper, processor, and package along the way is a possible source of contamination. As with anything you ingest, the fewer people who handle it and the closer you are to the source, the better. Some governments have decent standards while others have bad or none.
I bought Himalayan salt in South Africa and realized that what is in the bottle, is not all salt. This is the answer from Google: "The pink granules in your Himalayan Salt are natural impurities - minerals that come with the salt. They have no health benefits, but they're not dangerous either and they're definitely not adulterated. Adulteration is when a food manufacturer secretly adds something cheaper with the aim of making a quick buck."

I like your idea near the end of the video of 'mixing it up'. That way you get a larger variety of the trace minerals.
I switched to Redmond's about a year ago. The price is good and compared to the others it is "locally produced".
I hear everyone saying Redmond's is cheap but to get a bag delivered to Florida is outrageous. I can buy pink, black, or white Himalayan salt for $1/lb locally but I can't touch other Celtic or Redmond's anywhere near that for bulk usage. 50,lbs for instance. And the small bucket is absurdly expensive
I have a salt collection from all over the world but the only salt places I have been are the Atacama desert in Chile, Hawaii to the volcanic salt, and Frances shores for Celtic grey salt. I love them all
I’m very happy to have found your channel! Not only do you do a very thorough job but your voice is very soothing
You rock! I have all three salts in my cupboard, Redmond's has only been there for a few months. I have the least "experience" with it, but, I've often wondered some of the things you covered today. Thanks!

Nicely done video on a topic that is more important than most people realize. I have done "salt tastings" for nearly 20 years as part of my holistic health & nutrition business. I always include basic table salt as the last one of 5-6 salts being tasted, and my clients are usually shocked at the differences and appalled at the harsh metallic flavor of the table salt most of them commonly used up to then!

I didn't think too much of the salt's 'flavors' until I watched "Dating in the Kitchen" starring Zhao Lusi and Lin Shen. (Great drama, by the way)💗 He was, as a chef, teaching her about the difference in the taste of each salt and how the differences change the taste of the food. I immediately took all of my different salts out and started to taste them. I find it truly remarkable how each salt can change the flavor of a dish. I now use 'the salt' that flavors my food to the taste that I like. There doesn't seem to be any extreme differences in mineral content. The Grey salt has a sharp taste and the Himalayan a mellower flavor. To each his own.👍💕 Will have to look around; don't remember ever seeing Redmond's in Canada! Maybe in the larger City centers??
Having metal toxicity, i was told to avoid Himalayan Salt because it contains heavy metals that come from their use of dynamite during harvest. Has anyone else heard this? 🤔
Yes - I have heard that! The problem with the HPS is there is no quality control so you never know which version you’re getting - in other words - how was it harvested? Blast mining is unacceptable for salt meant for human consumption- the by products of blast mining ends up in the salt. No bueno.
Haven't heard it, but thank you
I heard it, but I'm not sure if it's 100% true. I'm leary of Himalayan salt now.

Love both Redmond and Celtic
I gave Redmond's a good try. My batch at least, had tiny particles of sand in it. I couldn't get past eating a nice soft scrambled egg, and crunching down on grit. I have it all to my son and it doesn't bother him. I'd give a lot to be able to get past the tiny bit of sand, ut I just couldn't. You overlooked my favorite, Romanian salt. I lived there for years and bought it everywhere in the little shops, for about 50 cents per kilo. I have searched everywhere in the US for it, but to no avail. Oh how I wish I could get some! It is varying shades of gray, looks much like Celtic salt and has a rich, gentle flavor.
I’m so glad you brought that up! I have also noticed the grit of the sand, had someone tell me it was not sand but other minerals and that it would dissolve in water. Tried that! Put a cup of Redmonds in a Mason jar with RO water; it did NOT dissolve, left a small amount of sand in the bottom. I can’t get past the grit. I’d love to try your Romanian salt. My late father in law was a Romanian refugee from WW2.
Man I thought the meat I was eating had dirt in it. I was trying to figure out how this happened but after reading this it all makes sense. I just started using redmans? Is that normal for redmans??
Good to know! I can't imagine that I'd enjoy eating the Redmond's for that fact alone.
I sprinkle Redmond in my bottle of water and drink through the day. Now I know what that is sitting at the bottom not dissolving. Hmmm I want to try Celtic
We can't get past the sand either.
Hi from AU. Great info again, thankyou. We have the Himalayan Salt and the French Sea Salt in our home kitchen. We purchased the sea salt whilst on holiday in France. The salt formed on the surface of the water is called Fleur de Ser, salt or Flower of the Sea, in English. It is more delicate and more expensive hence it is used on food after serving as it's characteristics are lost in cooking.
Fleur de sel
Thank you for your thoughts on the different flavors and methods of use.
I use all of them plus the best from Poland: Kłodawska salt and Arctic salt from freezing Arctic waters. Thanks for the info, very informative👍
I buy 5lbs Celtic salt and keep it as treasure.. I like it’s grey with impurities!! It’s has some microbes from the earth and they good for us !! Himalaian salt I like as well Never tried Redmond salt… thank you for idea… will have to order one soon Great video!! As always! What a wonderful channel!!❤
Where do you get larger quantities from?
I use all 3 kinds of salt but Redmonds is what I reach for most. I also love their smoked salts, mmm! I have a really lovely Lemon, thyme sea salt that's delicious, most of my salt blends are sea salt. I also keep pink salt, both in a grinder and a slab, and I have a couple different brands of Celtic salt and also some black Hawaiian salt😊❤
Excellent comparison and facts about each. Seems you can’t go wrong with any of the three.
Barbara O'Neill said to place a piece of celtic sea salt on your tongue before drinking water, and it helps absorb the minerals one needs into your body. Her videos are very old, so maybe CSS is different now.
Lmao! Very old? OK now I feel ancient. 😂😊
I think she has made some new ones on the "Clash of Minds" channel.
She has a 9mo video out and talks about using the Celtic salt and then drinking water, watched it an hour or so ago.
This has been very interesting. What about Hawaiian red and black salts? Our family has been using them off and on for years. I would like to know how they compare to the salts you just reviewed, and if there is a reason that you haven’t included them
I just bought Hawian salt. It seems more salty than the Himalayan salt.
Have you ever tried alae salt? It is red in color from Hawaii.
Many years ago when Redmond was starting to be carried in local stores here in Utah, I tried it on some Copper River Salmon I was grilling. I was amazed to taste the ocean so clearly! It's all I ever use. Buy local!
I've always used Himalayan Pink Salt in my Saltpipe. Used it successfully for 25 years.
Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii 🏝️ New subscriber here & found this video very informative. We use local Hawaiian salt but will look into adding more variety brands 👍
I use it all, depending on what's available. I logically prefer Celtic though as its freshly from the sea and therefore has all the minerals of the earth in the right ratios. our bodies evolved here so I think our bodies expect all the minerals of the earth in a certain ratio. Salt mine salt is obviously going to be missing all the chemicals that are easily leached out.
Very important in depth video! Thanks so much!!
Been thinking about which salt is best to use and then found this article! Thank you for all the info! I thinl Im going to go with celtic. Getting rid of Mortons salt immediately! Thank again! Perfect timing!
Of the various types of high-quality salt, I prefer sea salt SOLNI CVET - SALT FLOWER from "Piranske soline" (Piran, Slovenia). This salt is produced by hand following a tradition old more than 700 years. The basic process is natural crystallisation on salt-fields on a petola (a bio-sediment base, composed of minerals and micro-organisms). SALT FLOWER is the best of the best salt produced by "Piranske solin". "PIRAN SALT", also with protected designation of origin, is ungrounded, unrefined and of exceptional taste, althout is more "ordinary" compare to SALT FLOWER.
WoW - soo informative- Thankyou very much. I’ve got all 3 & prefer salts & prefer the Celtic Seasalt. I’m using it as a therapy & now ready to start teaching on the amazing health benefits of Seasalt. Thankyou. I’m definitely going to check out your recipes for fermented foods. ❤️🩷🩵💜
Hey. Interesting comment. I was wondering what health benefits regarding salt you will Teach? Thanks
Thank you for your complete examination of the salts. Me personally Himalayan for me. After watching documentaries on Ghana and their electronics recycling and the pollution that’s produced,(yes I know from our electronics here too in the USA) I tend to like mined salt
Thank you. Your voice is calming.
Hi, thanks for all the effort, time and experience shared in your video. Enjoyed and informed ourselves with better lifestyle by choosing the right option. My personal evaluation and after reviewing your video, the Number one choice would be Himalayan salt, shows the only one with all the minerals, especially mag/ iodine/ zinc, with no impurities or added agent. Celtic becomes a no go for me, i know the companies do their job for filtration, but The companies are the one who sometimes end up neglecting it as well. Also importantly, Himalayan salt looks good tastes good. Also, just a suggestion for people in general, is to please make healthy choices by making healthy correct decisions, and being an American we are fortunate to have all the healthy option available at very affordable prices, so why refrain from them. so enjoy!
How do you know the Himalayan is pure and being processed correctly? So many different brands out there
i wss quoting the research that's being interpreted by the person in the video. I was reiterating whats being in the video. @@lifeasll2053
Well done. I appreciate your very unbiased analysis. I have in the past used Mediterranean/Italian salt. Curious as to how it compares. Thank you again.
Wow, thank you for your clear and researched info!
I mix Celtic and Himalayan salts together, works a treat, great texture and colour! I cook with it, sprinkle in water and bathe in it, for bath add bicarb & borax. 💖🙏✨🌟
