The Renner 8: A Resto-mod BMW 850i With the Heart of an M5
The BMW 8 Series is low key one of our top 3 weird BMWs from the past. Blame anything from the cover of Nas’s Street Dreams, to the fact that it was one of the cheapest V12 autobahn stormers you could buy in recent times… we love the shape and uber-90s styling. Renner in Miami takes these forgotten luxo cruisers, and restores them to a better-than-factory level. And they have us about to make some bad decisions because of it.

Please. What is the song at the very end I need to know
That Renner is nice but the original heart was removed they should try to work on it because that is what a proper tuner do.. Here is an Alpina B12 just to give you guys a glimpse of how it should sound a proper V12.. kzhead.info/sun/d5ymeLChp4Vvi4E/bejne.html
where are you from you guys ?
@@poplaurentiu4148 Don't think he cares about proper. if he did he would not install those wheel rims. But later on he will be asking us why he has a wheel shimmy on braking and at harmonics of 45-50, 95-105, and 150-160. Then we will have to tell him that his unapproved rims ruined his bearings and suspension and steering bushings. Don't think he cares about that either though. But in ClubeE1 we always had these numbskulls doing this. It's classic. But if you're going to do a heart transplant then who knows what else might happen. I got 450 hp out of my S70 engine without major tweaking but had to carry some ballast in the back to offset the CSi's heavy V-12, and use heavy euro brakes and sway bars and 750iL upper control arm bushings and a mild camber plate. It drove like it was on rails no matter the speed, and was all approved OEM stuff. But it is a fools errand to try and make these things tossable and they are never going to be quick off the line. JUST TOO HEAVY. High speed cruise all day like a Learjet, fine. But racing Porsche's, never.
What is the paint color code/ hex code, please 🤤🤤🤤?
Just a casual RS500 cosworth chilling in the garage
They aren't that rare. I've seen several for sale here I'm Florida. None more than $4-5K
@@SCRB1GR3D98 hahaha no you haven’t!
@@SCRB1GR3D98 You are thinking of the Merkur Xr4ti.
@@SCRB1GR3D98 lmao no you didnt & they're extremely rare. Only 500 rs500 cosworths were produced. Hence the number 500 in the name. More like 50-$100,000+ for one.
im from australia and there is someone in my neighbourhood who owns one. Craziest looking cars on the street
I love this guy and his tuning philosophy. "We want to build a car that makes sense". Beautiful. He also believes in having everything work as its supposed to. He is absolutely correct with how he put it, you absolutely CAN put any motor in any car but having it all work like "stock" and look like "stock" makes the project take much much longer and requires much more effort. He also seems like a very humble person with the way he speaks about everything. His tuning philosophy is absolutely incredible
The 840 and 850 series have such great body lines that will never age. It is unfortunate that manual transmissions in them were so rare or I would have considered one.
My synchros on 2nd to 1st gear are going and I'm considering on getting an e46 M3 transmission and buying an adapter plate that mates to the M70. A company in the UK makes them for that reason.
No questions do it
Always had a soft spot for those 8 series. I was prob 10 or 12 when they were around and was the first German car that really caught my eye
hello
My neighbor had one when I lived in a condo in San Antonio attending University
@@bilbobaggins4710 wow you can see the priorities😂
It was the same for me with the sn95 mustang..... might just be the "po boy" in me lol
Same. I remember reading about this in magazine shops and bookstores when I was a middle-schooler. I saw a model of it in a shop and fell in love.
Imo one of or the most beautiful BMW ever built
Can I get like 3 minutes of onboard footage of that thing please? Never gonna see one like that again
Imma need an hour my guy
@@87E24 10 hour loop
Agree, I don't think I'll ever see one.
That 850i looks truly gorgeous! No way to tell that design is more than 30 years old! A classic! Owned a 1992 Tobagoblue 850Ci 20years ago, beautiful car!
One of these have always been on my bucket list of cars, BMW killed it it back in the day with this unit, still crushing to this day 🏎💨
One of the most beautiful BMW ever made !
The power this car deserved, finally!
To think it already had the old McLaren F1 engine too lol
How far into the triple digits do you want to go?!
@@JohnUstaris 850csi had the same basic architecture but that's probably about it, 200hp less . The M8 prototype never got produced
@@JohnUstaris the Mac F1 engine was HUGELY modified compared to the BMW base block
400HP? I think it deserves at least 650hp to be honest
One of my favorite cars ever! Always said I would restore one of these one day. I actually tried to get one a few years back. This made me really want to get one all over again. Beautiful car.
One of the best looking BMW models of all time.
Timeless BMW model
I love 8 series BMWs. So iconic. 😍
RS500 doesnt even get a mention, straight baller
what a beaut.
Gorgeous, absolute favorite bmw
Gorgeous!!! The 8 series is my favorite beamer, the lines, and body were different than anything else they offered.
The Cosworth RS500 looks like the most interesting car in that shop. More footage of that please.
My god, all my childhood heroes under one roof. E30, E31, 930 and a Sierra RS500. 😍👏
Sneaky little Sierra RS Cosworth in the background. Nice 👌
The shots with Full Mouth Larry are really the icing on the cake.
when you showed that interior & that engine bay WOW! So Clean!
I want to see more of that Sierra RS500!
Have loved this car since It was released! Finally a showcase on this Model. Thank you!
Only someone who’s crazy talented talented and confident and good at what they do can can get away with going to a fancy showroom looking like that. Larry’s a legend
Absolutely gorgeous 👍👍👍 Only thing I would personally change is I would rather a dark interior wether black or dark brown leather 👌 But it's just flawless!
Renner is a true BMW Enthusiast!! Bless that man 🙏🏻
Not bashing them, they did work hard on what they got but an 8 series simply deserve at least a V10 if not it's original V12.. So to me the best of them all still remains Alpina here is a link to a footage taken from Germany from a lucky person who owns 2 different BMW Alpina cars : kzhead.info/sun/d5ymeLChp4Vvi4E/bejne.html
@@poplaurentiu4148 lol bro you dont know what are you talking about :) you dont know what s62 is...that engine in that chassis is MAGIC right there :)
@@strahinjaboskovic305 Ha Ha.. you sound really funny.. Why ? Simple : Because i know what BMW designers & engineers intended that car for and with what engine under bonnet and the fact that Alpina based on the factory BMW did an even greater version is a well known fact if you don't want to trust me just ask anyone.. So.. apparently i know what i'm talking about you on the other side.. not sure.. re-watch again the video-clip on the link i posted above it contain an Alpina version.. ;0)
@@poplaurentiu4148 alpina is not bmw you tard v12 is too slow...no power for 2 ton car that is reason why wasn't successful this guy done m8 like should be engine have more power than needed and sound is great...that v12 engine is peace of shit especially alpina wasn't successful :)
Hearing him speak makes me really appreciate how hard it was to do those formula 1 Judd V 10 swaps in the e30 and e36.....
yeah, 850 & 840. cars extraordinaire
i rode in a V12, manual version of one of these 8 series back in 2005 and man it was a treat. this 8 series is beyond dope!💪
I respect the heck out of what Renner is doing with these OEM + type of BMW builds. Great story Larry. 👍🏽
This is the most beautiful coupe from BMW in the 90's. I like the Porsche 928 GTS, but I think this car is more practical and comfy. The engine sounds great, maybe not as good as the original V12. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I don't like how it sounds. A great job has been done with the car, the interior, paint, everything it's first class. As I said it's a beautiful car!
How are you not dropping everything to look at that RS500 I saw 👀 in the back ground at Renner??????
I hate how expensive these have became used but they are worth every penny. Long live the 8 series
The standard of your work is amazing , no corners have been cut building this you are a perfectionist .
I love everything they're doing with these!! I don't even care what color! I need this!
That color on the gold HRE multi piece wheels just total perfection.
What an epic video and garage. Seeing these Singer type conversions pop up for diffent brands is fantastic. Will never be able to afford one but they make the motoring world a better place to be!
Such gorgeous art.
Beautifully executed build! Not a BMW body you see much around! Nice to see one loved like this one.
Larry is the dude
WOW! WOW! WOW! RESPECT! 👍 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Please please please do a video on that E9 3.0 CSL
I can’t even explain to people how much I LOVE!!! this car it definitely has nostalgic feeling for me I miss the 90s I really do...
Timeless
Now that's a quality build
One of the Dopest cars I've ever seen
Theses guys are NEXT LEVEL !!! Cool too see a quality resto-bmw.
You make me smile and enjoy every minute of this video! And the sound, OMG, it's phenomenal!
im just staring at the windows being soo clean
Having you in town was the greatest way to start 2021. Here's to making more content with you soon!!!
Beautiful! What about that hood gap? Anyone else bothered by that?
One of my absolute FAVES!
Wow that car is beautiful. The tan interior looks a little off but that’s just me
Yeah it's barf party in there.
Tan interiors are aweful in anything.
@@leedlelee3118 As someone who has a tan interior, I agree
agree its wayy too light. looks yellow not tan.. if you wanna go towards those shades, I would do the carmel/cinnamon color leather. that looks good. but if it was just black, it would look perfect.
Tan? I think you misspelled yellow ;)
Wish i could afford an 8 series. Dream BMW car on my dream car list
Larry, those photo locations are awesome
I'm in love with this 8series LITERALLY lol 😅🤦🏻
Props for shouting out the illustration for Nas' Street Dreams single. 90's Nostalgia
That color though, absolutely beautiful
Them BBS BOYS,have this locked,NJ,NY...
You'll know I've won the Lotto when Renner builds me a Renner 6. 😉
That passenger's door was halfway closed. Surprised he didn't hear the wind noise.
stunning work as well Renner!
Wow this is great I see this concept being around a for a very long time! 👏👏👌
Puuuurfict @ LOVELY well done carry on !
That's lovely. Great company too.
I want this car so bad... ugh it’s my favorite series. And the fact it has the E39 M5 motor makes it that much more bad ass!
Excellent. Love it. Thank you.
OUTSTANDING, now must win lotto so I can order a 3-5 and an 8!!!
Brilliant I would really like a V10 in my 850 92. I do also have an E39
I may have to go check this place out the next time I go home for a visit. Beautiful cars!!!
wow and great paint
Love that 850 beautiful colors
15:09 The push button check panel is actually independent, to a degree. Since I still used the oil sensors when I went stand alone, everything actually worked with the Bosch ECU completely removed and replaced with MS. However I did make an adapter board so I could use the factory harness and plug.
Such a beautiful car. I would suggest a little makeover on the lights and the black plastic grill though. But still, it already looks phenomenal as is. Appreciate your guys work so much!
Damn That Sound Was Awesome The Inside Was So Beautiful Too
Now that's a dream car. My favourite shape of BMW by far. It just needs slightly bigger wheels IMO. @Hoonigan and @Larry_chen_foto: please tell me there's another video about the Sierra Cosworth RS500! I've not seen many in the US let alone an RS500. I'd love to know more about that and how they're seen in the US.
Miami Vice 🤩🤩🤩
So cool to see a well known company doing something with such an underappreciated car such as the 850i.
80s, 90s & early 20s BMW are the best looking cars.
topppppp work as usual Larry!
This guy's car brought the curse of drive by wire onto the world and he's out here bragging about it. Savage Also lol at A/N fittings as "aviation parts"
Super clean
STILL very much my DREAM CAR. And this is a PERFECT example of how I'd want it. Maybe a (retirement present) to myself.
M5 e30..v10.. my fav build.🦾🦾🔩🔩⚙️🔧🔧💯💯🥰🥰🥰🥰
That engine bay 😍
That 850 needs that V10 and be in my garage!
I feel like that peanut butter interior would go nice with a mayonnaise paint job. BMW looks so good in cream color.
That's a beautiful automobile
Beautiful vid
Wow gorgeous car!
Going with CSI body kit was probably the best move. I know Koenig made a decent wide body kit but it doesn't compliment those defining lines that run from the nose, all the way to the tail.
BMW 850i super 🔝
Awesome 😊🙌🏻
Larry, I really like these in-depth looks at restomod cars. I think there's a niche here. I have searched for other high quality restomod content and it's few and far between. Perhaps you could turn this into a recurring series? Masterwork restomod builds of our favorite cars of yesteryear.
Great info timm. I’ll have to try the new road down there. Not been that way for a while 👍🏼👍🏼
this is the perfect car man up there in my dreams with my nsx and my saleem 🥰
Music thumping fr 😮
in my country we even had a childhood rc car, that was a bmw that color... but was an M1, the Estrela Pegasus...
