11:30 EDGE #5 Nik Bonitto (Oklahoma): "The best in-space edge defender of this group. And maybe the most naturally-gifted pass rusher."
20:10 EDGE #4 George Karlaftis (Purdue): "This guy's a FOOTBALL player. He's all about creating chaos."
32:10 EDGE #3 Jermaine Johnson II (Florida St): "It doesn't matter who it is; he dominates tackles."
41:30 EDGE #2 Travon Walker (Georgia): "When he explodes in a straight line, it's comical." But is the hype going too far?
54:50 EDGE #1 Aidan Hutchinson (Michigan): "Could he one day be the best pass rusher in the NFL? Yes."
1:07:00 Kayvon Thibodeaux (Oregon): How did he not even make Chris' Top 5?
1:20:50 Honorable mentions: Joshua Paschal (Kentucky), Dominique Robinson (Miami Ohio), Sam Williams (Ole Miss), David Ojabo (Michigan) and others who missed Chris' Top 5.
1:26:20 EDGE Draft props: Who does Chris like to go in the Top 10?
The Simms' 2022 Draft Rankings keep moving with perhaps the best position in this class, the edge rushers. Is Aidan Hutchinson worth the #1 overall pick? #NBCSports #ChrisSimmsUnbuttoned #NFLDraft

Simms 2022 Draft EDGE Rankings | CHRIS SIMMS UNBUTTONED (Ep. 362 FULL)
/ nbcsports
Bruh, Chris Simms' ratings are becoming definitive to me. Stoked whenever one of these drops.
Agreed
This is the ranking I needed most this draft. Edge was too deep and there's so much info on all of them.
I come back and check youtube- waiting for these to drop- love this podcast- everything else just doesnt cut it right now Cant wait for the 7 mile AM hike 🏈🏈🏈
Bruh I literally just shidded
Cumb fard
Like the chapters option! Please do that again with future episodes
YT adding the Index is clutch
Yooo been waiting for this one baby
Chris is legit at breaking down these prospects
I'm so happy to see the Travon Walker love
As a Jets fan I have wanted Johnson at 4 and Williams at 10, your rankings solidify that
As a fellow jets fan I completely agree, I would be stoked if that happened
How about a late first!
@@maxwellrichter6735 dude I know what a freakin draft
Hey Chris simms unbuttoned My question is are any of yo top 5 "22 prospects are on the level of Bosa or Myles Garrett coming out ?
I'm not Chris Simms but Myles Garrett and Nick Bosa are better than these guys and would be drafted ahead of them. They were really hyped coming out of college
Nick Bosa wouldn't not be drafted higher than Hutch he didn't even play his last year of college. He is smaller and slower than Hutch.
As a Jets fan I been waiting on this one 💪🏾
It’s gonna be JJ at 4
If I were you I’d want them to draft Sauce at 4 Stingley at 10. 2 shutdown corners in that division on a team that has terrible dbs. Sign me up I like JJ but there are guys every year like JJ. Theyre aren’t guys like sauce and stingley every year
I'm scared as a jet fan now. I trust Chris Simm evaluation. I hope Kevin get picked before it's our turn to draft
The Who I disagree with him on stingley but I 100 percent agree with him on thibs. I think jets are more likely to pick jermaine if they do go DE
@@DrRobGilles Stingley has been on some board of potential bust in the first round. People give Douglas crap about his 2020 draft. But PFF graded him out to an A-. We just don't know when it all said and done
With Edge being a pretty deep and talented group (potentially 7 in the 1st), would be interested to hear more about prospects for day 2 or 3 with either one elite trait that could translate to NFL or scheme limited which could present good value for the right team.
if you want to check out a hidden gem edge look at michael clemson out of texas a & m
This is the first time I feel like the rankings are way off. He even said in the beginning he has his list this way because he didn't want to pile onto people and add to hype. But yet he subscribed to the recent Thibodaux hype where people are saying he really is over hyped. That section would have been better if he put why he left off Ojabo. Before his injury Ojabo was the hot guy and these rankings shouldn't exclude anyone injury because it's a position ranking and not a mock draft.
Hey Chris! What brand clothing is your sweater?
1:00:23 with subtitles turned on
I've seen George as high as a top 10 pick depending on the defense.
I would rather listen to Simms more so than any of the guys who do the shows.
Love it. Jax is cant miss at one with either Hutchinson whos going to be great or Walker whos going to be great but also has a high ceiling
@@motoz30 I'm glad he didn't get drafted by the jags y'all organization is trash af
I agree with Chris's top 5 and his evaluation of KT!
Buggin if you think he ain’t a top 5 pass rusher, I’ll be back in a year to check you tho after he has 10+ sacks or close to it.
that guy walking in the back @ 20:45 was betting his life not to look in the cameras direction lol
My Edge rankings: 1.Travon Walker 2. Aidan Huchinson 3. kayvon Thibodeaux 4. Jermaine Johnson 5. George Karlaftus.
kayvon
@@tymonster183 OOps.. Right Kayvon..... was thinking of LT for some reason...dont think he is equal to him ... but who knows... I think if he goes to the Giants it will be cool if he wears #65. 56 in reverse.
You nailed this! Given team fit now, who do you think will excel in NFL?
@@Divan108 Depends upon the scheme fit I think.
Enjoy the way you speak your mind 😃
I also like Josh Paschal.. Tavon Walker and Boye Mafe.. I hope the Bears can grab one of these guys in the 3rd..but it’s hard to really know when they will go.
Simms🐐
I think you meant Aldon Smith out of Missouri and you were right it was Baalkes first draft pick for the Niners. The Smith's were unstoppable for a couple years.
I remember him. Outta Missouri.
No he meant Justin Smith. Bengals took him 4th overall in 2001. Played 14 productive years.
@@vanillaswiss2344 no he meant Aldon, because he was talking about a Baalke first draft pick. Baalke wasnt ever GM of the Bengals. I know who Justin Smith is as mentioned he was part of a formidable duo on the Niners with ALDON Smith.
@@kurtgauger5532 no he meant Justin Smith. 1:06:28 he gets corrected that Baalke didn’t draft, but helped sign Justin Smith. Simms was specifically speaking about big large strong ends and that was Justin Smith. He then goes on to mention that he played against J. Smith. So his confusion wasn’t on the player, but on who drafted him.
F-C DOUG SMITH MISSOURI? BAD PRO BASKETBALL PLAYER.
wich guy do you see as edge rusher for the jets ? - estimating the top 2 will be gone by pick 4 - i like the greekfreak
Regarding Bonnito Oklahoma doesn't do their draft eligible players any favors with their weak schedule year in and year out. It raises questions about how they'd fare against elite comp. Sure you can search out matchups vs other drafted players but how many are there to find?
Is that an Oklahoma problem or conference problem with Big 12 fielding weak teams? They are committed to moving to the Sec though so have to give them credit there.
Aren’t they going to The SEC in a couple of years? They won’t have problem very soon
Surprised kayvon Thibs wasn’t in this list.
I AM CHRIS SIMMS, VICTORY IS MINEEEEEEE Many victory laps to come this year my bois
"Defensa End"
Simms is the fkn man
Finally someone giving Nik Bonitto some love. The guys pressure rate the past 2 years was insane. Also he was incredibly good in coverage for an edge guy. Giving him great scheme versatility.
Love Chris, Ahmed, Pauly and the whole podcast. Honest, down to earth evaluation and takes. And I honestly think the draft is pretty much a lottery, you'll never know what happens to these guys. Sure, some have a bigger chance to make it because their freakish athleticism and stuff but there's always players picked in the 5th round ending up with a better career than some first rounders in their draft. The top 4 players in Chris' top 5 edge players definitely belong in that conversation. I have Hutchinson at no.1 as he does, Walker is my no.2 or 3, Jermaine Johnson my no. 4 and Karlaftis I have at 7. The only one I don't like as much as him is Bonitto. I just don't like the combination of lack of size and power and have serious questions about him translating to the NFL. I'm not a big Thibodeaux fan as well but I still have him as my no.5 edge prospect, definitely think he's more talented than Bonitto. But he's only my no. 27 overall player right now. A player I'd have 100 percent included in my top 5 edge rusher prospects is David Ojabo, I love the player and versatility. I know he might fall in the draft because of his injury but talent wise he belongs in the top 5 edge talents for me.
Chris simm is very good at this
I enjoy watching these Chris Simms videos. But please remember where he ranked Dyami Brown and Javian Hawkins.
Dyami Brown had who as a QB last season?
@@HarrisonHollers stop it, waddle had tua and played well, devonta Smith had hurts and played well, if u are good, u are good with anyone
@@brooklynalldaybrooklynalln4254 tua can throw a screen…or did he get injured doing that. Brown had Fitz throwing to him?
@@HarrisonHollers Fitz didn't last very long
@@brooklynalldaybrooklynalln4254 exactly. Hard to judge players in pre draft. They go to bad teams or aren’t the right fits.
After a couple years we always see random guys end up better than the consensus yet we call someone crazy when they don’t conform to the consensus. Hilarious
This is a great point. Wish more people saw this
I just think many football fans treat these draft people like kiper and mcshay and bucky as experts in something they don't fully understand almost like how people will just agree with whatever your doctor says because they don't understand what is going on only difference is doctors are experts and know their shit where these draft clowns don't have some super in depth process with evaluations but rather just have a minion of low level scouts working underneath them who give them basic information on guys.
He's 100% right
Karlaftis is definitely a steal in Round 20!
He is naturally dominant should be among the 1st 15
Tibideaux shall be drafted among the first 10
There are quite a few good DEs, I would like to know some late round gems..armoir is a clothing closet type furniture..👌Armour is the name..just french for armor
If Sims rates it, I’m more likely to buy it … He rarely gets them wrong. I hope the Jets and Giants are listening.
Let’s go GMEN!
Jets fan here hoping they pass on Kayvon who will absolutely be there at 4. My hope is Walker falls to 4 but i have my doubts.
Jermaine Johnson and Jameson Williams! Let’s GO!
Same as a Giants fan. I want Evan Neal and Walker but probably wont happen. We'll probably trade down
@@Dash277 it’s a real possibility u guys could get the best tackle and one of the best edges in the draft u guys are in the perfect spot fr
ngl this shocked me i thought thibs would be on the list it wasn't until the list reached number two that he wasn't gonna make it lol im a rewatch thibs bc I felt like he had a great 2020 szn especially the pac 12 championship game
I'd love Karlaftis to the Packers at #22.
Fresh take: Seahawks win 11 games next year and win the division. They'll have a top 5 Defense led by Jamal Adams and Diggs as the best Safety duos, along with Brooks, Taylor, Shelby Harris, Sydney Jones, Marquis Blair coming off injury, and whoever they draft hopefully Sauce at CB to solidify the Defense. Then get another pass rusher at 40 and OT at 41. That Defense along with the best running game in the NFL with a Penny Carson Duo in the backfield.
Arnold Ebiketie not even in the top 7 for the EDGE class? Wow.
Smart talent evaluator sides the lawrence/wilson one.
Yeah, because Trevor looked so much better than Zach last year.
Aidan Huchinson and . George K. are the best
I don't understand why you make videos without any footage of the players you're speaking about. Who's idea is that?
As I Jets fan I now hope KT is off the board at pick #2 or #3 for the Jets. I'm still undesided on best plan of action. Maybe go best player available which would be CB Sauce Garden at 4th overall and at 10 either edge J Johnson or G Kalaftous due to the edge depth in the draft to improve the Jets Defence. or Edge T Walker at 4th overall and hope CB Sauce Garden falls to 10. I'd then look to trade back into the first round and select either WR Williams, LB Dean or S Hamilton. Then in the second round can go WR, LB, S or Oline.
@Manish Mims reports have said (if true or not I dunno) that the Jets are not to high on Hall. Also that Jets will go best player available at 4th Overall. I believe if Hutch and Walker off the board that is CB Sauce Gardener.
@Manish Mims Yes History wise you are correct in them usually picking secondry later on in the draft and not valuing CB as high. Sauce Gardener can play either Man or Zone as I think if the Jets go best player available he will be selected. as for position of need I agree CB is one of our stronger positions, so doesn't make sence in that aspect, but that being said having a potential Revis again(was my fav player) is mouthwatering! As long as we take a Edge at 4 or 10 I'll be happy
Jets baby!
What elite edge rushers have 32 inch arms? is that normal? If there is several guys like that I wont be concerned but otherwise I want a guy with more length at number 1.
He is 6'7. That will make up for it. If you get a 6'2 guy with short arms then there is an issue. A 6'7 guy with long arms and long legs - it won't matter as much. I would be way more concerned about Karlaftis. Aidan plays LONG. Karlaftis plays kinda SHORT(stilla great player though). Similar to offensive tackles. A 6'6 Olineman with short arms is less of an issue than a 6'2 Olineman with short arms
I don't agree with Purdue guy at 4 he moves well but he doesn't bend and doesn't use his hands kayvon at the very least is a natural instinctive versatile player.
This makes no sense. Did you even watch Kayvon's tape? He had the second highest pass rush win rate (21%) in the country last year, second to only Aiden Hutchinson (23%). Travon walker had pass rush win rate on 8%. Like WTF. The average percentage for first round edge players since 2015 is 16%. You can't even argue athleticism. Kayvon tested in the top tier of athletes, sure he was behind Travon and Hutch, but is still comparable. And if your looking at in game athleticism, Kayvon has the best get off and bend in the draft. To not have in the top 5 edge players is crazy. To have Nick Bonitto, a guy who Oklahoma did not trust to put him on the field in run play situations, is crazy. I seriously doubt this dudes ability to evaluate any position besides QB
lots of questionable calls in all positions. except qb, he is the best evaluator. i watch rbs and wrs mostly. when he put the rb hawkins at 3 last year, over harris, then hawkins got undrafted, then i started to take his evaluations with a grain of salt... still cool to listen to him ehe
Sacrificing integrity for the betterment of NY football, actually quite honorable
This is the first top 5 where it sounds like Chris wasn't even watching the same guy on film. So strange
@@dodu8281 apparently there were major off field concerns with him
I mean, he was accurate the last few years lol
Travon walker to Jacksonville #1 is getting Buzz.
I wonder why nobody was sleeping on Von Miller coming out of Texas A and M back in 2011 and why his stock wasn't all of a sudden falling like with Kayvon.
Tackles couldn't touch Von Miller. His pass rush has always been elusive af. 1st guy I saw pass rush by sprinting around the lineman's knees.
Cause Kayvon isnt as good as Von coming out lol
Because Von Miller isn’t an idiot nutcase.
Not even a Baylor fan but the most important stat when evaluating college edge players is pressure rate and kayvon is top in that category
College Stats don’t matter when evaluating prospects
Lions: Could they trade back and still get an edge that they need? I am hoping we can get a higher pick than 32 to draft qb Desmond Ridder and also get an awesome edge rush.
No, you take Hutchinson or Walker and don’t play games.
Proper evaluations as always. Hope Simms doesn't go be a GM somewhere, remember Mike Mayock is what I'd say and besides love the pod
Mayock is one heck of an evaluator. GM is more then just scouting.
Riiiiiiiight...
I don’t see the Travon Walker hype
Me either,.,He played with 6 guys going in the Top 100,..He should have had 20 sacks last yr
Baalke traded for Justin Smith. He did draft Aldon, Armstead, and Buckner....he loves size
Ouch😬 Simms on KT...
You said a lot of good stuff until you got to Ojabo. Dudes a freak!
Ahmed needs to come back around to ask, " now that we've talked about why he's not as good as the hype, why is he still a first round talent?" Its a fucking obvious thing to say after Simms gets done piling on the guys who don't make his top 5 (Thibodeau especially here). The criticism gets overwrought and overstated and completely out of context when discussing someone who you regard as one of the best couple dozen players in the country. And would also actually back up his contention that he "'feels bad" about some of his critiques.
The Georgia Coaches just coached the best college defense ever to a national championship, and the little nerd on the left is questioning if they are stupid.
This guy is awesome, John Madden Junior, Gmen / Jets pick this guy up
Ppl rave about KT’s elite traits and how great of a player he is. My question is, if he has such elite traits, why isn’t his film elite?
Feel like he has elite get off the ball but isn’t physically elite in terms of height and weight
Cause he don't have elite traits whatsoever. Von Miller out of Texas A and M had elite traits back in 2011. Kayvon got none of those.
@@carterfarris39 he’s not elite off the ball in comparison to Hudge, Walker, JJ, Karlaftis
@@erikpuka2627 Lmao you clearly don’t know what ur talking about. Kavon has elite bend and get off. Top of the line best in the draft at that.
@@matta6395 Karlaftis isint in KTs class on with his get off and bend
Bonito over Thibs is absurd lol
@@t_scout personally I think this is his honest opinion based on his eval…I just think his honest opinion based on his eval is outrageous 😂
Thibs tape is underwhelming. Nothing absurd here - just Simms speaking on what the tape says
@@erikpuka2627 what’s underwhelming about it? He’s in the backfield almost every “pin your ears back and get the QB” situation and he does it with pure speed and athleticism. He gets to the QB more, wins his matchup more, and sets the edge better than Bonito. Plus he has a lot of room to develop b/c he relies on very little technique. What are y’all basing this on? He might not be better than Hutchinson, but Bonito and Karlaftis?
@@BSideRapReviews everything. Other than Length - nothing is really great. Maybe speed in the 40 too. Most Games I watched him- I didn't even noticed him and he gets whooped by TEs a lot. Pass rush wise - nothing special really. Stiff and can't turn the corner. Power is below average. He fast but got to built it up. Not real agile. A 1 move guy. Length is really his only elite pass rush trait Playing the run - good but mot great. Nowhere close to Hutchinson or Karlaftis or Jemraine J. Gets whooped by TEs. Losses ground. Narrow base. Playing in space - awful. Dude stiff. He built like a Shimigami. I think Chris Simms is being too kind. Take out the hype - take out the noise and the narrative - he ain't a first round pick This is exactly how a trash Leonard Fournette got deafted ahead of the Great CMC, Mixon, Kamara, Aaron Jones , Cook, Chris Carson, Kareem Hunt and even James Conner who is better. Fournette had that high school hype and was the no.1 guy coming out of highschool. A grown man on Campus day 1 but nowhere close top the no.1 RB. Thats what Kayvon been. He been riding off that hype. Take the narrative and the hype away - he ain't a first rounder. I don't watch college football. I am an NFL guy theough a through so I was not familiar with KTs game and hype before evalutating him. Listening to people - I thought he was Gonna be Von Miller. The tape shows a homeless mans Jadaveon Clowney but way slower, softer and 30 lbs lighter. And Clowney is somewhat of a bust too.
@@erikpuka2627 good points, - just disagree with almost all of em lol. i think you’re overreacting the opposite way because of his hype. Sure if you came in thinking he was a Chase Young or a Bosa bro everything may be underwhelming. But if you’re purely comparing him to the other edges in the class he’s 1, 2, or 3 (if you REALLY project Walker) His speed is elite for his size. He’s the fastest on this list outside of walker. He has elite get off. If he doesn’t have elite get off no one in this class does because he has the quickest get off in the class. His agility is borderline elite for his size. But if you knock him for that you gotta hold Hutchinson, Karlaftis, and Johnson to that same standard. Saying he gets whooped by tight ends a lot is disingenuous. Maybe a few times but you wouldn’t have to throw double teams at him as much if TEs could block him regularly. His strength HAS to be elite. He throws OTs around in the pass rush and handles double teams well. He didn’t do the agility drills but his combine numbers backs most of this up. He didn’t do the agility stuff but he had had elite 40, 10 yd split, and bench. When people say he doesn’t have elite traits that always comes of as super cynical to me because that’s literally ALL he used lol. If you wanna talk about his technique that’s one thing because he has ZERO technique. But if I’m a NFL GM, I’d have to think you’re better off trying to teach pass rushing moves and block shedding better than you can teach speed, get off, and power. I think you should also factor in the fact that run defense and playing in space just ain’t as important as pass rush. There’s going to be more pass plays period, but also, you can scheme around your edge not being a good run defender or in space easier than you can scheme around your edge not getting to the QB.
karlaftis is a poor mans bosa brothers. Power players with bend AND strength at the PoA.
My comp to Walker is a more athletic mix of Pernell Mcphee & Michael Bennett
CHIEEEFS KIINGDOM!!
they are saying good thing about kayvon as a smoke screen hoping someone drafts him and not the guy they want
I can't stand PFF sometimes. Hearing them talk alot of the time and it just defaults to combine numbers and whatever their "grade" was for their play. JUST WATCH THE TAPE. The people there just lean on whatever the computer tells them.
Problem with pff is it doesnt always take into account a certain defensive scheme and how players are assigned for plays and sometimes will consider things a negative when they are not like simms says about Georgia linebackers how they are not asked to pass rush. Pff guys just look at the screen and don't break down the play enough and schemes and if a guy did what he was assigned to do.
Love ya Simms but Thibodeaux tape is lackluster but Walkers isn’t? Completely disagree. Flashes way more in 1 game than Walker does over multiple games
He just wants to be different kayvon will be the best edge in the draft in the nfl
@@h1melo571 that’s hard to do when he has no elite traits
@@h1melo571 lol ok.. Prepare to be disappointed.
He kept it a buck Thibodeux did not have elite film. Edge is one of the easier positions to evaluate. I will say I don’t think Johnson had elite film either, but he does have the body and potential but not a top 10 pick imo. Karlaftis is Edge3 he was consistently double teamed and still made an impact for Purdue. Agree with Simms on Bonnito and Paschal both should be first round picks.

Cameron Thomas isn’t a freak athlete by any means, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a great football player… He’s not listed in the top five which is fine because I hope the Bears can take him in the second round… Or third… Cameron Thomas is a relentless edge rusher a great football player..just not a freak athlete.
Defensive End.
Okay, if KThibs ends up being a jag then Chris Simms is a god of scouting, but if he ends up being an unstoppable force, I’m calling Simms out for spreading Disinformation on the behalf of certain NFL GMs
It doesnt matter where they go. What matters is what they do in the NFL
AD has the quickest hands in the NFL, was an NCAA wrestler and brought his quickness, balance and hand-to-hand combat to football. He is NOT the biggest. Not the strongest. Not the fastest. But he the best wrestler turned footballer. Tristan Wirfs too.
Who is AD?
Feel like Chris gone be wrong about this one left to many better players out
I mean, he can't include everyone. If he had included Thibodeaux and Ojabo, he would have had to omit Karlaftis and Bonito who are awesome players. There are seven first round talents and he can only include five. I would put Thibodeaux over Bonito but his list isn't egregious and his top three is correct although I have Walker at #1.

Come on chris do you really watch the tape? Because Jeremy ruckert put karloftis into the dirt a frickin tight end!!!
I have seen Rob Gronkowski whoop Terell Suggs and put on the ground. I have seen him whoop Chase Young too. That doesn't mean they are trash. The TE is just an amazing Blocker. I saw Thibodeaux get whooped by Greg Dulcich of UCLA. Dulcich is a wide reciever playing TE. That would be more of a concern. Ruckert is a 1st round level prospect btw just on his ability to boock and athleticism. Teams passing on him making a mistake.
Mr. Simms, you're absolutely insane to think Kayvon Thibodeaux isn't a Top 15 pick or even a Top 10 pick.. I'll bet you a 30 pack of beer.. Thibodeaux has a better CARER then your 2 guy's Hutchinson & Karlaftis!! The speed, power & explosion is not even close.. I don't know what video your watching... I'm calling you out!! Kayvon Thibodeaux will be a better pro & have a better CARER, then your 2 guy's!!
I honestly think if I’m the jets I would take the best 2 corners this year... sauce and stingley instead of a pass rusher. That would be terrorizing for offenses to throw against. Those corner backs have special traits you don’t see every year in the draft. When do you ever see a 6’3 corner with that speed and press man. Or a guy whose as smooth and fluid as slinglsy with size and length. Pass rusher is an important position but this year I honestly don’t think any of them are coming out as special prospects like a bosa or Myles Garrett. Etc. I honestly think the best value at this position is taking a swing on a pass rusher in the second round vs investing with a high pick like most years. If Hutchinson is the best pass rusher then it’s not a good year to draft that position. And if you’re the jets you aren’t getting him anyways. Ever other prospect is a question mark as to how good they really are Walker is a question Mark being a jack of all trades more than a master of anything. Jermaine is potential. Some think thibs is a bust Give me a sure thing in the top 10.
Boye Mafe & Ojabo over George Karlaftis
I like chris but he does too much clickbait with these rankings, he always leaves one big name off to get the shock views, stingley, the ohio state WRs and now thibs.
YUeah,.I luvv Bonito but that guy get washed out of plays on 1st and 2nd down wayy too much,,.He can cover better than the other guys but he ain't setting the edge in the NFL on 1st down
