Me: Is Playing Bomber Crew and bombing a Flak Tower in Vienna. Also Me: Gets Jumped by a full squadron of 5 Me-262 Jetfighters while returning home. Also Me (again): Gets all four engines of my Lancaster Bomber sheared off in one fell swoop from the attack. You guessed it, Me again: Returns to Main Menu before the Bomber crashes cause that was complete BS and is not prepared to lose an entire crew that late into the campaign.
I remember back when I played Icewind Dale. I found out from the playerbase that reloading the game after one character dies is basically a requirement since reviving them was either VERY expensive or the spell required to do so can only be gotten very late in the game.

Same here. Actually solved it without all the clues. Not a good puzzle if u don't NEED all the clues.... Didn't find out till years later that it was supposed to be a good weapon

Ah, that's the same as if you had 0 clues in the quest. Also apparently the only thing that makes it good is that it can have 5 augments added to it.
Yep, happened to me too. And if I'm bored I like to guess numbers on number pads in games - I've gotten through to many things early, and I certainly wouldn't call it cheating. A keycode is just a stupid way to lock something in a game because it can be guessed early.
@@kaldo_kaldo yeah a lot of games will simply not bother letting you, the player, even type in numbers. Your character has to find the code, then use the key pad, with no typing in numbers. I kinda see the approach of letting players brute force it as dumb from the start, and penalizing that as dickish. Then again game devs will sometimes put collateral damage or friendly fire in games just as a way to penalize you for playing so....

Alien Isolation didn't fiddle around with tricky punishments, it just straight up didn't let you use the keypads until you've found the keycode for it
Also some games randomize the codes. That way you HAVE to find it. Sure, you can brute force it, but a 4 digit number has 10,000 possible answers. might take a while.

The first one can be avoided by just loading back a save, losing once, and then redoing the whole thing. Unless it also programmed in a way to detect that you just so happened to lose one roll before the 20 roll limit.
Or unless it's always a double-or-nothing style system.

Undertale does this with the "dirty hacker" ending, which isn't as much of an ending as it is Sans breaking the fourth wall to roast you for getting to the end without enough flags in place for the game to know which actual ending to give you
I liked in Spore, when they gave you a badge called “Joker” with the description “you cheated.”
If I recall correctly, some of these, like the fable frying pan and the dungeon master's ire one also trigger if you figure it out without collecting all the clues (because the game only checks the "has found all the clues?" flag). Fable at least, powers up the pan a little for each clue you find, but I think Prey had a pass/fail thing (so, if you find three digits, but brute force the fourth, you still get the DM's Ire)

You obviously need to heat it up first.
0 damage if you cheat. Otherwise, it's one of the strongest in the game. Cheating gets you a clay pan. Doing it for real gets you stainless steel fryware.

Sure, it won't work as a murder weapon if you're trying to just bonk someone to death with it, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be used to kill someone in some other way. Maybe the murderer fried up a batch of poison mushrooms or something in it, and didn't want to hang on to the evidence after serving them to the victim.

But I will say this about cheating... it’s cheating to break the rules in order to gain an advantage. Too gain an advantage within the parameters of the rules isn’t cheating, it’s strategizing. If there aren’t any rules against finding a safe spot and using it then it’s not cheating.

In Old school runescape, if you bring all the stuff in your inventory you need for "Doric quest" before talking to him and accepting the quest. Your character will say something like "hmmm with all the many items I could pick up, I brought you the ones you need and in exact quantity, isn't that an unlikely coincidence?" Edit: it also does it when you have the beads before the ''imp catcher'' quest and when you have 28 balls of wool for the ''sheep shear'' quest
After all this time hearing about the Death Star anti cheat in Afterlife, I was expecting a giant Death Star completely obliterating heaven and hell. But when I saw it in action on this channel, I’m actually disappointed about how small it was
I remember in Spore you got your own Cheat achievement, which ironically would have been needed to collect for any completionist out there.
I always liked how in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, if you use cheats during character creation to max out all your stats from the get-go Smiling Jack will call you cheater and make you go back and redo your character. But only if you max out everything.

In Animal Crossing, if you hard reset your game by turning off the console (commonly done to save scum), Resetti, a very angry mole, will greet you when you load up the game again. His lectures would get longer the more times you reset the game and he'd make you essentially write out lines as punishment if you were a repeat offender.

When you get to the last one and get into this city that was your destination, the game no longer lets you do it, unless you go all the way back to when you entered the city

Also, it's a direct copy of the original SimCity where using the money-printing cheat similarly gave an earthquake (so, damage and pollution) every few uses.
The 50ft of hempen rope is suspiciously missing from the adventurer's toolkit, I suspect foul play!
In Tomb Raider 2 & Tomb Raider 3, attempting to use the version of the all weapons or level skip cheats from the previous game results in Lara exploding. In the Marathon trilogy, cheating to the exit terminal (hard to do since there’s no noclip code for some stupid reason) before you’re meant to get there has Durandal or whoever else you’re working for at the time chew you out on it. In the Marathon 2 map curiouser and curiouser, the only thing between you and the exit is a pair of locked doors. Get past them without opening them and Durandal says “that’s cool how you just walked through that wall, but I still won’t let you leave.” Pro Pinball Timeshock, due to being an accurate pinball simulation, has a tilt sensor for when you nudge the table too much. Unlike other examples, you can turn it off in the operator’s menu. It won’t help you much if you do, but you still need it. Doom 3 has the game commend you but otherwise do nothing if you try to use classic Doom cheat codes. And finally, the retail remake of The Stanley Parable has the serious room.

I never really understood that one. If I made my mom unhappy she'd turn off/reset my game and then I'd have to deal with verbal abuse from Mr. Resetti while I dealt with verbal abuse from my mom.
@@kaldo_kaldo The story I've heard is that, during testing, some players discovered a way to abuse the game clock via resetting. I don't remember the details, but Nintendo thought (with reason) that being yelled at by a mole for 5 minutes with an annoying piece music in the background would be an effective (or at least funny) countermeasure
@@iceman95540 You could still do that in the final game to get Christmas items in July for example. They added things though like turnips will rot, grass will grow like crazy, your townspeople will move out.
One of my favorites comes from Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. If you activate cheats in that game the blue alien lady wil pepper you with disappointed comments like "I hope you are proud of yourself."
I love the deathstar, it is truly hellish, as it must be so much worse to just forever lose small bits of your creation in stead of it just removing one big chunk and then going away again. Idk thats what i think at least.

You totally missed Ultima VII for this. Where there is a room that you can only cheat teleport to and it literally has a sign on the wall that says, "Cheaters Never Win"
I don't remember the name of the game, but I remember that if you enter the God Mode cheat from DOOM, the game brings up a message saying "This ain't DOOM, boy".

the worst issue with fable one was that you could easily solve it with only 3-4 of the clues and get the bad reward. i never knew about the superior version until now
