0:10 Before commenting, check the top pinned "VIDEO CORRECTIONS" thread.
VIDEO CORRECTIONS (compiled from viewer comments): From Juan Pablo: FCU (Autopilot) panel o. The glareshield. You have HDG 360 twice. The window on the right should read Altitude. From The Beast: the HDG display and IAS indicator on the right side of the flight control panel shown at 18:19 actually display desired altitude and VERTICAL speed respectively, not HDG and IAS and at 27:33, the A/T DISC switch only disconnects the autothrottle, to reengage autothrottle you have to do so on the flight control pane From Edward Long: 2: the flap handle is way too long, should be about 2 inched in length.
Another small change, if you will. IRS stands for INERTIAL Reference System, so it gets data from the INERTIAL Reference Units, not the internal reference units. Just letting you know:)
Some viewers seem to be hung up on the video title, suggesting we should have included a plane make/model. Our work here is indeed based on the Airbus A220 airplane cockpit. However, we've taken calculated liberties for the sake of education and our desired end product. This is not aviation certification course material, it's just real smart entertainment. As such, it's not appropriate to name a specific model. This is a high fidelity representation of where aviation is now, and where it's headed for the time being. The act of sharing knowledge is an invitation, not a closed door or an unreachable prize to hoard. Be kind when explaining what you know, not rude. It's hard to learn from mean teachers. KZhead comments section doesn't have to be low quality, we can be good teachers for each other when commenting. Animagraffs welcomes high quality feedback, as always. Let's learn together.
More importantly why is this jet way up in the clouds without any pilot or co pilot? Not even a flight attendant?
@@ssherrierable Because this plane is haunted and only ghosts can fly it. Not a lot of people realize the existence of ghost planes, but we're blowing the lid off this mystery here at Animagraffs.

My jaw is on the floor, this is youtube and teaching at its best. If there is an award to be had, these videos should get the Oscar.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the line "The EDM switch is not a special guarded switch to play electronic dance music for impromptu sky raves"? The inclusion of humour amid such a professionally crafted tutorial just made this 10/10 video even better. You've earned a lifetime of impromptu sky raves my man.

What is an impromptu sky raves? More importantly what does this has to do with the EDM switch?

The amount of work/effort he puts in these videos are INSANE. like not even joking he puts more effort into these videos than any other channel I watch. Kudos to you man! Keep it up 💪
You can follow along and do the same thing in a modern flight simulator that has a study-level airliner. You'll have to go through the controls in the correct order to start up the systems and prepare the airplane for flight. It's fun if you're into sim stuff!
No doubt. It’s awesome and very informative!! I like the race car one too, didn’t realize how much engineering went into a nascar!
The attention to detail is spot on
I am a CPT on B737 and this video allowed me to admire the technological advancement of a very new airliner A220. The B737 uses switches rather than push buttons and there are as much as tripple the amount! This cockpit is very cozy and seems to be much easier to use for a new pilot. You just got me at heated floormats :D Great video! You should be paid for an instructing video by Airbus company.
The Embraer 175 looks like this, i start on the 737 soon, I’ll miss how well designed this jet is
I am actually not a big fan of Embraer or Airbus. I like Boeing. I am not for all the electronics.
What's your thoughts if you were thrown in a cockpit with the old steam gauges? Would it come natural or would there be a learning curve? Also I'm a big fan of Mentor Pilot channel that give a lot of insight into the aviation industry.
@@michiganborn8303 I was trained flying an aircraft with full analog gauges. But C172 is far less complex than B737 so it would be challenging to be put in an older version. The instrument design went a long way. Displays are much easier to read nowadays because the screens are bigger, color and the relevant readouts are closer togeather.
@Xiongfxs Ahh yes, the Good 'old Cessna 172-S and 172-RG. I used to play those a ton of time on Flight SimX.
I’m an engineering student and I really enjoy watching videos on how things work together. I really appreciate your incredible work you do on this channel. Keep up the awesome work! 😎

This video is a treasure for me. I have been involved in civil aviation since fifty odd years , never got to learn cockpit instrumentation despite many flights as a guest in the cockpit . Thank you very much...
The level of detail is mind boggling. I never think when boarding a plane that there is so much detail, fine tuned, parts which take great care to engineer. Like the last video, this really makes me appreciate modern air travel and its unrivalled safety of transportation. Astonishing.
"I never think when boarding a plane that there is so much detail, fine tuned, parts which take great care to engineer" really? are you serious?
I'm a simple man. I see your videos, I click. Your videos are amazing. Keep up the out standing work.
Hi, the pilots of these aircraft, deserve every penny of their pay check!!!! I am a private pilot, and some of these explanations lost me. Outstanding video!!!!
I can imagine... more complex than my current wings (PA-38 ;-) ... yet, to my now-retired A320 brain, it all made perfect sense. His degree of explanations are detailed for sure and surprisingly accurate. Safe and Happy flying! cheers.
Flying commercial planes takes so much training.
The mechanics who keep these birds flying know as much, and in some cases, more than the pilots about the flight deck in order to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve whatever problem the aircraft flew in with. You never hear anyone in the public claiming the maintenance personnel should be paid accordingly. If they aren't repaired, the aircraft isn't going anywhere.
Amazing videos this guy makes and you don’t even hear him say things like “like and subscribe “ like other youtubers. He lets the audience do it on their own based on his high quality videos. Great great work

I hope you can do a "how a commercial/container ship works" video and a separate video of its "how a commercial/container ship is controlled" specificaly focusing on the bridge and the engine control room
I would love to see a video like that.
I second the motion.
I would like to see every system of a container ship, just like the plane video
Yes because it is very helpful especially to students studying maritime courses (like me) and also to those who are enthusiastic about ships and machineries. Many will benifit
Its crazy to think that most of these controls had very specific reasons for coming into existence....and that often included loss of life.....humbling. This is a supremely beautiful art piece made about a supremely beautiful art piece....I genuflect.
I Fly the A220 and it was a pleasure to see you make this video of my office. Well done
I learned so much in this video. It’s incredible how many buttons, toggles, switches, and levers there are!
Former Boeing.... your detailed 3D animations are always amazing. I have watched other of your videos on aircraft construction and operations. All very close to real life. Every aircraft is a little bit different, but the basics never change. Yaw, Pitch, Roll are the 3 most important concepts every pilot must master to safely fly any aircraft. One thing not mentioned is choice of colors for flight-deck. I still remember when Boeing Triple Seven (777) came out with an all glass cockpit and fly by wire. Adjustable display panels and muted interior colors helped pilots focus without eye fatigue. Since then, all modern aircraft have all glass cockpits and fly by wire. I am old school stick and rudder, or yoke. Side stick needs lots of practice in simulator to master. I just recalled problems in some military jets and side stick were too sensitive and high G load on pilot's arm could accidentally push stick in error. It's funny, 20 years ago at Boeing, engineers had very sophisticated CAD systems. Your 3D see through and fly through are 10 times better than what they had back then. One IBM CATIA workstation cost 50 grand plus annual license. Times have really changed in computing.
Extremely well done. This "tour of the flightdeck" is just beautiful.
Boeing planes are different enough that they deserve one of your extremely excellent videos. I'm quite surprised how much ground you covered in a short time. Of course you were just skimming the surface of all the controls available, but you did a really good job of abridging the topic!
I was involved in the design of the 220 from the beginning when it was the C Series at Bombardier. You have done a great job at this drawing. A couple of things need fixing. 1: on the FCP the HDG is written twice. The windows from left to right should be speed, HDG, altitude. 2: the flap handle is way too long, should be about 2 inched in length.
A couple of other details. On the EICAS display ( second display from the left with the engine instruments) you have a compass rose which should not be there. The EICAS display is devoted to the engine instruments only. On the first officers Nav display ( second inboard from the right) you have a large U shaped graphic which should not be there. On the glare shield are the priority lights that depict which stick has taken control. The light segment shows a green arrow in the direction ofthe commanded side. I will review some more…
@@edwardlong189 wow that's pretty cool that you are one of the designers of the cseries absolutely beautiful aircraft good job

Wow having this crazy amount of info available pretty mch for free is priceless, also the quality of the animations it's top-notch.
Dude, this is becoming an addictive channel, I’m telling you!
can we please take a moment and ALSO appreciate the work of tons of skilled software developers, who created blender and give it away for free? It's insane how good open source software has become.
Thanks this is probably the best video that explain the controls in a cockpit.
Can you please make a detailed video on a cargo ship operations too? It would be great video for marine engineers. 👍
Offshore supply vessels too
Appreciate the quality, honest work. Love these physics/engineering videos. Would be amazing if you can continue to cover things from rockets, to electric cars, to things like the ISS. Keep up the great work Jake
Your animations are awesome. My friend , an airline pilot now retired, used to talk to me on the 60 meter amateur radio band from his aircraft on flights to Europe. HF (SSB mode)worked great and I could stay in comm with him out over the Atlantic ocean. (I live in NY) Also , my 11 year old Grandson, on a recent trip from NY to FL, had the distinct pleasure to sit in the pilot's seat of a Boeing 737. He is a big airplane enthusiast and I will be sure to show him your channel !!!! Thanks for super educational info !!
Much respect for how much time and effort went into making this video!
This is some next level stuff. Immaculate animation and editing . Feels like sorcery 👌👌

I’ve been waiting for this video to come out since I watched the first part! Your work is unmatched when it comes to videos like these! I always know when I watch these it will be top notch quality. Keep up the great work Jake!
Excellent work! Great graphics and clear explanations. I don’t fly the A220, but you may have a mistake on the FCU (Autopilot) panel o. The glareshield. You have HDG 360 twice. The window on the right should read Altitude. Again, I do not fly the A220, but you may want to check this since it is the vertical navigation section of the FCU and having heading there would make no sense.
I'll add this to the pinned "video corrections" comment thread once I create it. As a video racks up views, experts begin to chime in with pinpoint details that really help our work reach that high bar for accuracy. Thanks for your contribution!
It could be the altitude selector as well. If you set the increment/decrement by 100s, then 360 ft MSL is absolutely possible
@@Baby-gp2fw Can you select sub-100 increments that way? On the A320 only full 100s can be selected, so 360 would not be possible, but 3600 is.
@@animagraffs can you make video about how WRC car works ?

Sir, I’m currently in Pilot commercial training after finishing private and instrument. The idea that you will go to flight school after resolving debt is insane because it costs tens of thousands of dollars to become a commercial pilot. I’m close to $10k in debt, after paying little by little in cash the aiming of $35,000. Just Start Aviation now imo
