Bright Slab Making
Honestly I didn’t know what to call this tutorial because there are so many different techniques and skills jammed into this video.
Now if you have watched my videos before you know full well - I am self taught! I’m just sharing my process and techniques I use personally for you to learn from or just enjoy!
I don’t go into great detail on mixing my scrap colours, but all of the colours (excluding the green that I make) are all random scraps from - Premo, Soufflé, Cernit and Fimo. What I do is mix together scrap clay in colours that are mostly similar and the will make random and mostly beautiful one off colours! Yes there’s lots of lint, dust and air bubbles! But rather than waste it I love to try and use it up. The only frustrating bit is you can never quite replicate these colours!
I’m planning to cure, sand, varnish, assemble and glue these in another video coming soon!
Follow me and my maker friends on Instagram our clay community is @friclay we share lots contemporary clay related info, challenges, tutorials and more!

My fav suppliers are:

  • Hi Polly! I am a "cane builder" and you have NOTHING to apologize for with this beautiful technique! The talent you show in selecting colors and manipulating clay is superb and only demonstrates that you are definitely a master in the world of polymer clay!

I just love your and winterbloom's techniques! I hope to see more of your tutorials on You Tube! Being a senior person, I don't get around much--but I really am interested in making things to give as gifts! Jewelry made similar to your tutorial would go along way to cheering people of any age group up!!! I hope you will have a great year 2023, and I wish you the best of health, happiness, and success!!
