Lyrics:
(I say a little prayer for you)
The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup (Makeup)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
And while I'm combing my hair now
And wondering what dress to wear now (Wear now)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
(Forever) Forever, (And ever) yeah
(You'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, (And ever) ever
(We never will part, oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, (Together) together
(That's how it must be to live without you)
(Would only mean heartbreak for me)
I run for the bus, dear
But while riding I think of us, dear (Us, dear)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
And at work I just take time
And all through my coffee break time (Break time)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
(Forever) Forever, (Ever) Ever
(You'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, (Ever) Ever
(We never will part, oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, (Together) together
(That's how it must be to live without you)
(Would only mean heartbreak for me)
Nobody but me
(Forever) Forever, (Ever) ever
(You'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, (Ever) ever
(We never will part, oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, (together) together
(That's how it must be to live without you)
(Would only mean heartbreak for me)
My darling, believe me (Believe me)
For me, there is no one but you
Please love me too
I'm in love with you (Answer my prayer)
Answer my prayer, baby (Answer my prayer)
Say you'll love me too (Answer my prayer)
Answer my prayer, baby (Answer my prayer)
And (Forever) Forever, (And ever) ever
(You'll stay in my heart and I will love you) Ever
(Forever) Forever, (And ever) ever
(We never will part, oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, (Together) together
(That's how it must be to live without you)
(Would only mean heartbreak for me)
For nobody but me
My darling, believe me (Believe me)
For me, there is no one but you
Please love me too
This is my prayer (Answer my prayer, baby)
Answer my prayer now, baby (Answer my prayer, baby)
This is my prayer (Answer my prayer, baby)
Answer it right now, baby (Answer my prayer, baby)
Say you'll love me too (Answer my prayer, baby)
This is my prayer, baby (Answer my prayer, baby)
I'm in love with you (Answer my prayer)

An icon of 20th and 21st century music, the voice of the civil rights movement, and the undisputed Queen of Soul-there is only one Aretha Franklin. In her incredible six-decade career, Aretha evolved from teenage gospel star to reigning pop and R&B diva, recording classics like “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Chain Of Fools”, “Think” (lyrics by Aretha Franklin), definitive versions of the songs “Respect” and “I Say a Little Prayer”, and global hits like “Freeway Of Love,” “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)”, and “A Rose Is Still A Rose.”
Altogether, 112 of her singles reached the charts, with 20 No. 1 R&B singles, the most ever by a female artist. She won 18 Grammy Awards (including the first eight trophies for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance) and, out of recognition for her for indelible contribution to American music and culture, received both the Presidential Medal Of Freedom and a Pulitzer Prize.

Someone listenin' this greatness in 2024?
Yooooo!!!
Not the first but here I am ❤😊
Yes Sir!
yep!
Yeeeehh
An angel she was and is for all eternity.
When my wife listened to this song she smiled and sang along. It was the last time I saw her really happy. A couple of days ago she suddenly died. We were together for 36 years. This song will always remind me of her last smile.
She’s still around you! Live the life she wants you to live, to the fullest! For her.💕
Sincere condolences for you 🙏🏽🌟💫she is with you in spirit now ❤️
My heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family! God bless all of you and may God give you all strength. Thirty-six years is full of beautiful memories and I hope you relive all of them over and over again.
I´m sorry for the loss of your wife that must be very hard. Music can definitely help you heal though.
Hugs 🤗🤗 to you
My song for him when we dated. When we married. When he passed away...40 years later. When, 10 years on, he remains lovingly remembered. 💕💕💕
So beautiful.
@Alexej Svirid can't get your hours up by knocking on doors so you harass grieving people in the comments sections?
@Alexej Svirid can’t you not just listen to the bloody song rather than preach, if Jesus will solve all our problems why has my nan got dementia and looking after her is killing my gran the same gran who has had breast cancer stage 3, who worked for many years in a weary physical job with poly myagria rheumatica, arthritis, 2 knee replacements one of which is bodged. I don’t see the power of prayer easing her pain or Jesus. I still see her (the strongest person I know) break down in tears. My exact words to the Jehovah that came to my door when my papa died, fuck off I’ve got no time for slimy wee gits who push their religion onto others and who think power of prayer cures cancer and pays bills and stops mass muerderes from murdering and politicians from fucking us over.

Today April 22, 2024... Im listening to this great song sung by the Queen of Soul: Aretha Franklin... May she rest in peace. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Top fav female African American singer. 2. Dionne Warwick 3. Dianna Ross.
Who is still loving and singing this beautiful song in 2024 🙏🕊️❤️🙌
I absolutely love her version of this song.
I’m leaving this comment here because this song has transformed my life. 🙏🙏And every time someone likes this comment I’m reminded I’m not alone and one more life has been transformed. MY GOD THANK YOU FOR YOUR LIMITLESS GRACE AND MERCY!
"How pure, how sweet, the love Aretha that you would pray for him" is a reference to this masterpiece 😭
With all due respect to Dionne Warwick who recorded the original in 1964, Aretha OWNS this song. While Warwick's version was pure light pop (which was terrific, mind you), Aretha's version put solid unadulterated muscle and soul to the tune, elevating it from a mere popular tune to an unforgettable soul classic.
Hasn't the World brought us some Amazing People.

Most men these day will never experience love like this, I`m lucky, I`ve been married for forty years. God bless you Aretha!
Most men today can't give love like this. Sad times.

Bullshit Love is always, it depends on us to see.
Why do you claim this?
@@ritagrimanis6539 my parents were married for 65 years - right up until last august when our house burned down & we lost her. She was bedridden. i was on 2nd story & heard my dad outside calling out for help. This like other worldly anguished PRIMAL SCREAM was coming out of MY DAD. i still can’t think ab it. So i had to bust out a window to jump & my 86 YEAR OLD POP CAUGHT ME! .. sorry digressing. So before all this happened, my dad was my mom’s primary caregiver - per her request. After i taught him how to change an occupied bed he never looked back! Plus he ran the house! HE WORSHIPPED HER. He LITERALLY did everything humanly possible for her until he couldn’t. Ps NO ONE could get back in that house but he will never ever forgive himself for not being able to save her.💔 i am _positive_ that he is the last of his kind.😢 TY for allowing me to share - sorry. 🤟🏻🕊️
It reminds me of my late brother He killed himself when he was 28 I always pray that he may rest in peace

Every morning I take my wife her cup of coffee while she is still in bed. This morning she started singing this song while I gave her, her coffee kiss. I had not heard this song in many many years. I didn’t even know the words to it, but I did remember the tune because my mom played it on her console record player. I just told my DianaBaby, I got to learn that song. As soon as I left the bedroom, I looked it up, listen to it, read the lyrics and some of the comments and it touched my whole being. So here I am now, All I could think of was of how much I love her and everything that “Little Prayer” has done to my life. My love for you is the greatest Love of All, and i will also say A “Littel Prayer” for you, Dear God, let us continue to love one another For Ever and Ever. Amen
I appreciate you every single day. The smallest of details never go unnoticed. My BB there's no one else for me. Forever and ever, again and again only with you. This is my prayer 🙏❤️🙏😍😘
bless you both!!!

Aretha's voice is the most beautiful I've ever heard. Listening to her is better than any anti-depressant money could ever buy. I remember the day she left this world, I said to myself she'll never be dead as long as I can hear her voice. You're gonna live forever Aretha. God bless her memory forever.
Amen to that Bro. That spiritual voice will forever live on. Love You Aretha.

Aretha doesn't even try to top the original. She simply makes it her own. What a gift!
That's a good thing...because the original CANNOT be topped!
@macbravery I heard Bacharach interviewed from sometime in the 2000's. When asked about I Say a Little Prayer and the two recordings, he said, "we made a very good record with Dionne, but Aretha's was better ". Agree with him or not, I call it a tie.
I prefer Dionne Warwick's humble version, but Aretha does her thing, nonetheless 2-21-23 listener

My mother passed one month and two days ago. Very suddenly at the end of her fifties. As a child she always played this song for me and sang along with it, especially in the car to school or for outings. She was incredible. I am sorry that you also know this pain. She was also the love of my life and I of hers, and she always made sure to tell me that. When Hal David wrote this amazing song, it was meant to represent the thoughts of an American woman who's man was away fighting in Vietnam. Makes perfect sense when I look at it this way. What a tribute.
Knowing that gives this song a different meaning, and also gives a different perspective of what people went through here in the states during the war. The same with the Glen Campbell song "Galveston".
Last train to clarksville. By the monkeys is also a veitnam song , who's meaning is revealed , when you know that. Its not obvious.

When I was in college, playing sports, no extra money, I had my gear, my music, my books, my faith, my hustle-bility, and a big black leather Bible my Grandmother gave me. I discovered this song (and a few others), which helped me get through the rough patches all those years ago.
