A fascinating fact of lightweight division in the ufc: The fight between Khabib and Tony is *cursed*
Nayem Rahman imagine they both didn’t get injured had long camp perfect build up and Mother Nature comes in and gives every one pneumonia wild
@@Probablyafed I can't imagine it sadly because it sounds to perfect for it to happen even an unprepared fight between them.
The fight got cancelled twice on april fools... if that's not a sign this fight is cursed idk what it is
Khabib is a coward, he belongs in welterweight or middleweight. he is not a natural lightweight like the others in the division. he walks around at 195.

It’s crazy that the division was on a hiatus because there was no interest in it & now it’s the most popular division in the UFC
George John Jr it’s between lightweight and welterweight tbh
The division has been the most packed and competitive in UFC for a while. Its very hard to get a title shot there. People like Khabib needed 9 fights before he got his and Tony hasn't even had his yet!

Yuki Nakai didn't tell anyone about losing the sight in his right eye due to Gerard Gordeau gouging it, till over a decade later as he wished to preserve the reputation of his beloved sport. What an absolute legend.
Thank you Yuichi Watanabe for being a pioneer and giving us this video of MMA's first ever lightweight championship win. The lightweight div has always been one of my favorites and by sharing this you have given us fans a piece of history. Much respect champ. And thank you Jason for giving us these videos and going deep to get this to us. You're the best brother.
The amount of effort that went into this must be under-appreciated. You guys are fantastic!
Nah. Their fans know what's going on. Newer fans don't even know about the amazing work they used to put out.

I’m pretty sure the khabib vs tony fight is so cursed that even saying their names in the same sentence something will go wrong
They've fought on the same card before :'(
if it got cancelled 6th time i think i am gonna tell my kids about those years of bad emotions, disappointment and hope like i was in a vietnow or something
Honestly this fight should happen no matter what .. This two is considered a rival funny that they didnt even fought once. lol

yea i feel the same. some things should just remain as they were. like an anthem. dont need to change whats already a goal to achive for any fighter. symbol of highest achievement + it looked more aesthetic if you ask me
Those were from the tournament era. . Dan Severn's got three of them! And ironically Royce Gracie was never given a belt!

The best division in the history of the UFC
Light heavyweight
@raihan abmny i think he meant in the history of the ufc
Back in the day the light heavyweight division was stacked. Forest Griffin, Rampage, Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell, Rashad Evan's, Jon Jones and many more top level fighters.
Lightweight was always the most talent stacked, followed by welterweight. Lightheavyweight was just the most popular, mainly because of Chuck. Most popular doesn't mean most talent rich.
Ivan Martinez it’s not even the best division rn, 135 is way better
The best division in MMA
casual complaints Which division is better? Lightweight is stacked.
@casual complaints Its common knowledge the LW division has been the most packed and competitive in UFC for a while. Its very hard to get a title shot there. People like Khabib needed 9 fights before he got his and Tony hasn't even had his yet! See 11:00
casual complaints So just because those other divisions don’t have a champion that’s as dominate as Khabib means they’re better divisions? Before Max got beat he had mostly cleaned out the division. And after Adesanya fights Costa then what...? A rematch with Whittaker or Gastelum?
@casual complaints Middleweight isn't stacked. Agree the lightweight isn't necessarily the best, in my opinion its equal to welterweight
@@soonerborn7603 In featherweight only Max was cleaning the division. In lightweight you have Tony and Khabib and the other fighters are beasts, too. Khabib and Tony are just too good so people think that the other fighters are bad. I mean the last fight for example of Khabib. How can you say that Dustin is a bad fighter? That dude is a BJJ black belt and a really good fighter.
Love the work ethic you guys go above and beyond I never miss a vid💯
Jason my dude come back once in awhile. You started this and are my favorite mma channel on you tube
thank you guys on MMA on Point so much for making and uploading this video. Still watching it, but I want to share something that I feel many of us relate. It is over one month in quarantine here in my country - emotions begin to emerge and isolation hits us all. This long video proves to be really helpful. Best MMA channel, thank you again !
This was possibly the most interesting video I've seen from this channel. Great work! It was really cool hearing some of the history of the sport. It's crazy seeing how the first champ was using modern striking with grappling/wrestling way back then in Japan. I wonder what he thinks of contemporary fighters - it looks like he had the fundamentals of today's fighters down decades ago
Incredibly thorough channel, awesome content
I just wanna say this was amazingly edited and made. Great job guys keeping us entertained through this quarantine.

This is your best video so far. Love all the work my friend.
Why didn't the UFC just make Tony the undisputed champ since he had the interim belt and Conor was on hiatus?
That’s what should of happened
To be the best u gotta beat the best
TL;DR: the UFC really wanted McGregor to come back and held off on stripping him because they thought they could make a deal. Long Story: That was sort of the intention, but rather than hurry to promote him from interim to undisputed, the UFC and McGregor were in talks for McGregor to come back to fight Tony, finally, but McGregor apparently wanted more than money, he wanted a monetary stake in the company itself because of his role as the biggest draw at the time. That ultimately fell through, and Tony was set to fight Khabib for undisputed status. Tony then trips over a cable and tears his ACL so he was out of the fight, so featherweight champ Max Holloway steps in to fight Khabib for a chance at being a double champ…. Then Holloway pulls out because of complications with his weight cut, so the UFC searches through the light weigh roster for the next best thing, ultimately settling on Iaquinta who took Khabib to a 5th round decision (no joke, massive props to Iaquinta for that. No one else has lasted five whole rounds with Khabib before or since). Khabib becomes champ after the win, McGregor has a long established beef with Khabib, and is more willing to fight him than Tony because of it. Conor still doesn’t get a stake in the company, but his Proper 12 Whiskey gets promoted by the UFC, and he agrees to the fight after two years away from the sport. Khabib dominates Conor. Everyone saw it coming. Bottom line, Khabib and Tony still haven’t fought and probably never will. Bummer.
Can we get another "Every Champion of a UFC Division Ranking" Would like to see Flyweight and Welterweight 😁👍🏻❤

khabib 3/4 but really think tony would've been the only one to give him some stress in the octagon bc of his insane stamina. dustin is a close second imo.

“Masked Shooter” lol
I love Conor, but he really fucked up that division by holding it up for so long, I’m glad khabib is a relatively active champ
Exactly. Khabib needed 9 fights to get a title shot and Tony was immediately stripped of his interim belt because of a knee injury while McGregor always got a title shot in lightweight and was allowed to have his title for like 2 years and not being stripped. He was only stripped when the fight of Khabib and Iaquinta began. And now UFC249 got cancelled. Dana stays the problem and is to blame.
Zero Chance yeah I understand Conor getting the fight at 229 since he was the lineal champ, but it should’ve been tony immediately after, not Dustin
I hate to say it, but having Khabib as champ feels almost as bad as Conor lol
Pickle Wickle I agree tbh idk khabib really fucked up the division by getting suspended for so long too
