The official lyric video for "Time Of The Season" by The Zombies off the album "Odessey and Oracle."
LYRICS:
It’s the time of the season
When loves run high
In this time, give it to me easy
And let me try with pleasured hands
To take you in the sun to promised lands
To show you every one
It’s the time of the season for living
What’s your name?
Who’s your daddy?
Is he rich like me?
Has he taken any time
To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly
Tell you why
I really want to know
It’s the time of the season for loving
What’s your name?
Who’s your daddy?
Is he rich like me?
Has he taken any time
To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly
Tell you why
I really want to know
It’s the time of the season for loving

  • You ever get a feeling of an old memory as you listen to a song like this that you loved? A sensation of being there? In 66 I was 8 years old. I'm 65 now. I dearly love this song. I'm taken back to a warm summer day in my early teens in the car with a warm summer breeze blowing in the window. A feeling I rarely repeated. Some songs turned into treasures because of that feeling. At 65 I just sat here and listened to this song for the first time in years, and I went right back to that place. Suddenly I was 15 again. It brings back a warm summer day with sunshine and a warm breeze. Incredible music ahead 🎶 of its time.

    • I am mere 35 years old yet listening to this song now reminded me of my teenage years when I was discovering 60s and 70s music. I can certainly relate to the early memories triggered by other songs. The organ music in Walk of Life by Dire Straits is something I heard as a child in the car but I didn't realise it was that song until many years later.

    • People that didn't go through that period of time just don't know how screwed up the 60s really were, We about caused the end of the world with the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, saw President Kennedy get his brains splattered Live then 2 days later they silenced Oswald again Live, then Martin Luther king Jr, Civil rights abused, Bobby Kennedy shot in the head Live again. Woodstock was a drop in the bucket for some kids while we were getting our draft notices. I really think towards the end our music helped us raise awareness that our voices could make a change.

  • There were the Beatles and the Stones, but the Zombies laid down a couple mind-bogglingly important tracks for the 60s. Wow. I've never heard anyone pull that trick in the verse either. Rim shot and human breath as a ryhthm effect - WOW! This is how you create an amazing groove the sparse way, lots of instruments, sparely applied in a perfect fashion. Then throw on a insanely good melody. I bet they were pissed they didn't get the notoriety. These guys are up there with the Byrds or the Animals as far as I'm concerned.

    • This seems like an objectively cooler time to grow up than when I grew up. I can only go off of the idealism in the films and music from that era, and by the scene created by newer pieces like Almost Famous and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But this era really seems like a zenith of American/Western artistic relevance, before creativity had to pass board review. Maybe more importantly, it seemed like an era where the public-at-large dared to dream with that idealism that is so central to the teenage experience. I personally spent my teenage years idealizing the spirit of these times, and I am jealous of you sir for growing up when good music was popular and and popular music was good.

Hearing it takes me right back to Saturday afternoons riding a tandem bike through Golden Gate Park (San Francisco) with my dad, watching the Hippies dance and frolic in the rare sunshine in the park near Kezar Stadium. We would hear this song, plus ones from Cream, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Beatles, and so many others playing on transistor radios in the distance. 🏵🌻🌈🌎💞

  • This was written during the age of dreams, Martin Luther King's, John F. Kennedy and an group of people that had time energy and resources to grow into a diversified and rich culture. Today's middle class does not have that luxury to support the arts like it did in the 60's and 70's and as a result we have become much more fractured. IMHO, the arts inspire creativity and that reason to do more than we thing we can both individually and as a society and hence the phenomenal outpouring of todays enduring classic rock.
