Doctor Vandana Das stabbed to death by man in Kerala hospital | Dr Pal
A 22-year-old lady doctor was stabbed to death today at a hospital in Kottarakkara, allegedly by a man who was brought there by police after being involved in a fight with his family members. According to an officer of Kottarakkara police station, while a wound on the man's leg was being dressed by the doctor, he suddenly got provoked and attacked everyone standing there using a scissor and scalpel. How can this happen? Doctors assault, no security for doctors is a never ending problem. Government should sign "do not harm doctors" policy and take all steps needed urgently.

He was not under police custody dr, he himself called police for protection ( he had hallucinations that someone is going to kill him) Still not sure how he got those injuries, may he he did it himself. You’ve the info wrong. The accused was injured when he tried to jump into a well shouting that somebody was trying to kill him. Neighbors called police who took him to hospital for wound cleaning. He turned violent when he saw a relative and again started shouting that people will kill him. He attacked that relative and four police officers. The victim girl came out of a room and she was also attacked. She was not suturing when he stabbed her. It’s a sad incident and I feel bad for the girl’s family. Just wanted to highlight the sequence of events.

There are so many things happening to MBBS students and house surgency students in India, many of it is not even coming to light. Medicos are silently suffering. That’s the main reason , students are leaving India for higher studies.

I found some people commenting on other videos relating to the incident. Can't she defend herself? What medical staff doing with an alcoholic? Military people lose lives protecting us, they dont mourn like this. Oh my God, seriously. Yes, we are not trained to defend ourselves like military personnels. Yes, we are not trained to expect an unexpected attack. But yes we are trained to be compassionate with patient and relatives. Yes, we are trained to smile even in stressful situations so that patient gets relieved of tension. Yes, we are trained to do Night shifts with full awakeness.

Yes I too heard this horrible news from my state. Apparently the patient ran after different people attacking them. This poor doctor fell while running and he used that as an opportunity to stab her to death. So sad 😢

I'm sure any sane good unbiased doctor reading this news would definitely agree with that at some stage of their life everybody would definitely have faced at least one or two verbal or even physical abuses.. It is very saddening that none of the accused ever feel sad or bothered about it. None of the politician be it from any party or even the police will ever come in your favor to talk because you are not a vote bank.. also IMA suggestions itself donot make any visible difference with regard to the attitude of lawmakers and protectors... A suggestion to dear doctors, remember one thing, If at all any time if you feel somebody assaults you physically, It is not wrong to take the drastic step to protect yourself in self-defense (You know decent of anatomy and surgery that you can teach somebody even if you are not physically too great).. When criminals can get away with it even after horrendous crime.. in self-defense we definitely can. Times have changed, moments have changed,protect yourself first.. and never forget to at the end of the day, love your work, smile and be extremely happy, leave all the stress at work itself,do not get them home, no matter what smile and enjoy.. Now it is a professional hazard.. and take it light and shamelessly, else you never heal , and most important be strong,be brave.. ( From somebody who has faced it, and come.out strong by Shri Krishna's grace)

Let me also say, other than the doctor, there were policemen, his own relative, a home guard and a social worker who were also stabbed. All of them got stabbed prior to the doctor. That way all should be given protection, yeah?
