GD built YGE to what it became. His writing for big bang, the success big bang and his solo work brought. Changing the industry with lighsticks, hair color change per comeback, and brand deals. Most importantly, he inspired the greats that came after. The moment burning sun happened and BI’s scandal to, the company began its downward spiral. Everything YGE artists were known for big hit and later hybe began to do and do better, with more consistency and better artist treatment. Just hope Winner and Treasure can escape unscathed when the dynasty falls for good.
Okay..calm your tits. YGE was already big before GD, YG himself was bigger than GD at his peak. And Prev YG artist before BIGBANG were also hit at their time. Sure GD and Bigbang made them more famous and no one can take away his influence on K-POP but don't overshadow YG by saying BIGBANG made YG. And BIGBANG was already disbanded as all members parted away and GD contract was also expired and he was only on special contract and that was in prev year June 6. He was probably on middle of leaving YG in this period. And if he is out of label, a label can't help him with the situation as he isn't their artist anymore. Yg might have been big in the 90s, but he wasn't an artist under his own company to rise it to the top. Big Bang did that because of GD. They gave that company the name they have today because of the change they brought to kpop And we can't really say that bts made Hybe if Big Bang can't get that same credit because the company had multiple groups before bts, was under Jype, had 2am, a Jype group under them and partnered with Source music before bts so they were already established, just not big. I think all idols from YG should not renew their contract after 7 years or after their breakthrough. YG is now a powerful company because of him.
He’s dedicated his teen years, and his entire adult life to YG, and in the end, all he got in return was YG distancing himself and the entire label from G-Dragon. All at a time when G-Dragon was being perceived by the Public as being a “drug user.” YG never defended G-Dragon, or his character. That speaks volumes when how someone you’ve known since you were 14 years old will let your public image get DESTROYED. I feel terrible for G-Dragon.

I think it's pretty clear. YG don't want to spend PR resources defending somebody that isn't 100% under their company. They were trying to use their help and potential resources in this case as leverage over other agencies to persuade G-Dragon to re-sign with them. "We can make a statement and quell all of the rumours surrounding your hot topic drug allegations, IF you sign with us again first" I think that's why G-Dragon didn't re-sign with YG and went with galaxy corp instead, because they were much quicker to jump to his defence and probably started doing so as a sign of good faith even before he officially signed with them. When he officially signed, the whole agency went into PR damage control mode to clear his name, which they did timely and efficiently. If YG had instead said in their statement even just one line "We firmly believe that our artist is innocent and we will be working diligently to prove his innocence and clear his name of this" then I think G-Dragon would have very likely re-signed his contract. The moment they released that intentionally ambiguous statement and weaponized these allegations to try to gain leverage is probably the moment he decided screw YG.

I think people underestimate the personal reasons for him leaving YG. I have worked at the same place for 4 years and already feel like I have outgrown it. I was a totally different person when I started and coworkers I’ve really loved have come and gone. I’ve started to just feel kinda sad working there. Now compare that to GD who was a child when he started working at YG and grew up with his Bigbang members. The rise they had together and the connection they had is something not many people will ever understand. They stuck together through so much hate and were a powerhouse in the industry. I am sure it was hard for GD when 2NE1 broke up and CL left, but the pain he must have felt when Seungri went to jail and Yang Hyun-Suk went into semi-hiding must have been devastating. Who knows how close the Bigbang members still are, even if they are still friends they obviously don’t see each other as much as they once did. Let’s also not forgot that when GD went into the military, he thought their career as a group would continue, but now it seems they totally disbanded and will never tour again. Or even if they do in the far future, probably not with Seungri. It felt like nobody really considered how devastating that must be for GD and all the members. There have also been those rumours that GD and TOP are not getting along. I think GD should have left YG as soon as he got out of the military but maybe felt some sense of duty to try and save the crumbling company he helped build. I hope he realised there’s nothing he can do that the people working there are responsible for YGs demise. I hope GD can move on to the next stage in his life and career.
It's mind boggling how a company (any company in the K-pop industry ESPECIALLY YG) would not support G-Dragon. How YG treated 2ne1 was already the start of their downfall. If they had any sane person left working there, they should have been on their knees begging to keep G-Dragon and protect him at all cost. Welp, I wouldn't mind seeing the fall of some companies and the rise of certain idols.

I have the impression that the YG label is going under with the departure of Ikon, Winner who is in military service, and the long wait for Blackpink to renew their contract, which has led to a fall in YG's share price. In addition, the creation of an OA label has led to the loss of shares, as well as other members not renewing their solo contracts with the company. Even if Blackpink came back and re-signed as a group the label lost a lot of money and I don't think they'll be able to afford to make music videos like they used to. Of course Blackpink are staying but they're making comebacks every 2 years which won't be enough to keep the ship afloat. As for their recent bands Treasure and Baby Monster, they have the worst management in the world. Baby Monster don't attend any music show you can't apply the same strategy to a new band as to Blackpink knowing that they don't have as many fans as Blackpink and they have to gain experience in front of an audience. What would happen if Blackpink had to leave the company completely bankrupt? So now YG should be questioning itself instead of applying the same strategy over and over again because people aren't fed up. What's more, it should change its genre, because the badass side of things is all well and good, but at some point you have to show some creativity.
I have wondered since the first drug scandal back in the GD & TOP era if YG had engineered it to get GD scared and make him sign a new contract. The difference in the situation over 10 years later? GD really didn’t do what he was accused of and finally saw YG for the parasite he truly is. I wish GD all the best in this new journey and cannot wait for the music and art he will create!
