I'm starting to think Cinderella is the real 'tale as old as time' with them remaking it every 5 years

@@kathleencheek9668 I think it's the Cinderella Story sequels to blame that really made a Cinderella adaptations tiresome for people since they're really the same plot to a movie that did a twist on the tale. I would love to see one based on the original myself. (The sisters had to cut their heel and toes to slip into a golden slipper with the lumber jack father belong them out with a axe and knife.) That can work in a horrid way OR an extremely dark comedy like Evil Dead where it's unironically funny for how gruesome the situation is. Even some of the best adaptation never capture the themes or scenes from the book. I dream to making a Beauty and the Beast but the story is set today and in America but still captures the plot, tone and magic of the story while still updating it for people who are outgrown the Disney one or wants a modern day retelling that will get people to read the story.

This is so forced, why call it Cinderella when this a whole new character with a different personality and way of thinking. You the base of the original Cinderella and formed it into something that doesn’t even relate to the original story anymore, changed the characters, why would you remove and replace key characters in the story, and the message is so forced out. “Be yourself” or “you don’t need a man”. I get it, the message isn’t a bad one but it’s so forced, doesn’t feel right at all, implying so much feminist ideals into a story that kids would read or watch, might as well make this a new princess and not related to Cinderella at all.

I think the reason is that Hollywood is too scared of taking a chance with new ideas, so they take existing intellectual properties then attach these new concepts to it. @@allysonestes Honestly just looking at the trailer reveals at least two endings. The writers went for, one, the Tiana approach. Where she marries the prince and keeps her dreams of being a designer and a businesswoman. Then taking over the industry proves all the 1700s incels wrong, the end. Or she doesn't marry the prince and stets out on her own path, he becomes heartbroken, marries another end of the story. Maybe throwing some drama in there about her regret, I don't know. We can go really out on a limb and say he chases after her, throwing away his princely status to become a commoner and support the love of his life to become a top-class designer. (I realize that's the same ending I wrote the first time, I just....switched.) However, knowing how these Cinderalla stories work (and if the writers stick the concept) she'll be with her Prince Charming, one way or another. Wow. I'm bored.

I feel like not enough people know that Disney doesn’t actually *own* Cinderella (or any of the princesses, except Elsa and Anna) so literally *anybody* can make a Cinderella movie, a Little Mermaid movie, a Snow White movie if they wanted to. It's always kind of startling to me to see that there are people out there who genuinely believe Disney somehow invented Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel etc. No, they didn't, those are folk tales of which many versions exist and to some degree, these variations even stretch across cultures. Disney has never and will never own these story as such, only their version of it.

So to love someone, have a need to be with somebody special it's a old dasty thing nowadays. I'm so glad in my childhood we watched another movies and believed we'll meet our special one. I got married to the wonderful men who supports my career. You can raise children and have career (I have 3 children). No need to choose. Really.. Too bad for our children. They think it's impossible.

I think Disney just hires college age people, 20 somethings and they think they're trying to take what we grew up with and make it so different with the times and still seem like the original Disney movies.. The original is better and always will be. If younger people like the newer Disney versions, they should see the original first.

Some of us still love the original Disney movies and unfortunately, the Disney company wants to always change their original movies to keep up with a new generation. I will always love the original Disney movies but I've grew up near Disneyland since I was a kid back in.... well nevermind. Lol.. but let's just say I'm always a Disney fan. My husband took to Disneyland on our first date, 28 years ago. We still go every year. We're kids at heart! 😉
@@JMarieGonz This film is made by Amazon. Pretty sure Disney had nothing to do with it. (Not to mention that I didn't claim to know whether the people behind this film are actually middle-aged. I was just describing that that's the vibe I got from the trailer.) And the originals are traditional folktales from Europe (or China in Mulan's case). The animated Disney films are just Americanised retellings. (I'm sure you're well aware of that but I just wanted to emphasise that the Disney films are not the originals). Some of them have their own charms but the way in which Americans tend to think the Disney films are the definitive versions of these stories is... well, it's understandable considering that's what they/you grew up with but I can't help but find it a little sad. Especially when modern-day retellings such as this one then go and ape the Disney version instead of drawing from the actual source material.

Wow, so much hate. It is a movie people. Lighten up. It is a refreshing remake of an old classic with modern music, contemporary talent, and an interesting twist to the original story. I loved it. If you haven't seen it yet ignore all of the negativity flowing through these comments and give it a chance. You may find it enjoyable, even fun to watch!

Strange. Then did it become #2 on IMDB and #1 on Amazon Prime...if no-one is watching? 🤔 Apparently many people ARE watching and many enjoyed it too. Judging by how popular the soundtrack is as well.
I kinda liked that Cinderella represented a hidden strength meaning that she was quiet and reserved but she had loads of patience and kindness towards those who deserved it rather than the usual bold and sassy hero that every feminist character has to have. It's very limited and stereotypical when ur female characters are all the same. Idk how to explain but this movie doesn't seem to have what I always liked about Cinderella. Cinderella is strong just not in the conventional way.
There are 100 versions of that Cinderella that you can watch to your heart's content. Some of us are over the meek/passive bullshit. But do you!
