Baldur's Gate 3 | Secret scene with Shadowheart if you play as Lae'zel
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#baldursgate3 #bg3
Shadowheart so racist she found a way to say "Gith" with a hard G
Welcome to Faerun racism is VERY normal. Unlike in the real world we where there's only one intelligent race (man) who attempts to sub divide it's ethnic groups these are actually different races of beings. Do you know much about Gith? I love them as a player but if you lived in a world with them you too would be racist against Gith, Orcs, Goblins, Trolls, and Ogre's; not to mention a bunch of other races like Drow and Giants. Don't get me wrong they aren't all bad, there are outliers but unlike in the real world where we are all humans and are basically cut from the same cloth. Drow are biologically incapable of understanding someone as their equal, you're inferior or above them. Likewise Githyanki are inherently violent as a race, yes there will always be outliers but usually that's because you're or someone else (a player) is playing them. I'm personally incredibly racist against elves of Faerun do to their wide spread general racism, they see most other races as inferior. Humans, Gnomes, and Halflings are the most "decent" and kind folk generally so them I like. But yeah, racism is fine it's D&D we're not talking about people who are different ethnic groups with minor visible differences, their very nature is different.
@@AngryAmericanWizardlol i feel like making the distinction of speciesism vs racism is pretty important so you don't wind up typing phrases like "racism is fine," even in context that's uhhhhh
@@AngryAmericanWizard what about tieflings?
@@AngryAmericanWizard You can see this very strongly in the Drizzt novels too.
@@liquidanimations3397 Lorewise I think tieflings were formerly humans that pissed off Asmodeus so he backhanded a bloodline of humans so hard they permanently turned into devilish forms people would inherently fear and distrust. ....Then just to troll them even harder made their genetics so dominant that anything that interbreeds with a tiefling only ever produces tieflings. No half-tiefs, no dwarf-tiefs, Asmodeus literally made this poor bloodline actively a species-purge against any community that accepts them longterm JUST to make people triple-down on hating these particular former-humans. The moral of the story is don't piss off Hell. They'll weaponize everyone's racism against you and your children for the memes.
I like how every single option was the complete opposite of what Bae'zel would have said
They needed to make her nicer as origin otherwise you'd end up with no party at all and dead by vlaakiths hands 💀
@@croissant2882 I think it's funny how you can't play completely like Lae'zel because she'd end up dead if you did 😂
@@croissant2882 Absolutely. The original Laezel is not meant as leader of the party, is not capable of. But I also would argue, that some gamers that boast about killing this or that companion on first sight are ALSO normally not.
I mean, 90% of the time Laezel's pro murder everyone in her path, with a bit of a torture fetish, she's like Dark Urge but all dark and less urge. The Githyanki in the game are like space fascists during what is best described as a peaceful era for them given they're largely instigating every conflict they're a part of, unless you free Orpheus.
@@nm2358 The Gith are a race that is very militant with strong fascistic tendencies. Which stems partly from their past and partly from their queen. I don't want to spoiler, but when you got to know that queen, you understand. This becomes particularly clear inside the creche. But: Laezel is not like the Dark Urge, in no way. She rejects killing that makes no sense or has no purpose. Of course from her upbringing she has a lot of fixed ideas about honor and how a soldier must be -- but she has also a great character arc particularly when you play a good character and have high approval with her. She really changes a lot during such a journey. But of course if you only play murder hobo or let her embrace her queen, don't expect her to change.
She says this stuff if you're a githyanki Tav too
I never got this scene as a Gith Durge.
@@nataliemolnar9280 You have to not rescue her from the pod in the Nautiloid (you monster), then either not talk to her or just fail to recruit her until you get to the Grove.
Shadowheart and Lae'zel -Racist -Worship a god that... Isn't that good -Get told their god isn't good -Get told they aren't good again -Find another one to follow Edit: Ok, Vlaakith isn't technically a god but like they still worship her and treat her as one, you (should) get the point.
Truly a match made in heaven
Except Lae’zel god isn’t a god
@@Eugine1888 No, but the gith treat her as one.
@@Eugine1888 I mean, arguable? In 2018 wotc gave her stats (it's still on their website as DRA19_LichQueen.pdf) and at the end wrote "...[vlaakith] will eventually achieve godhood by capturing the divine spark of the One in the Void. From that point forward, githyanki may become clerics of Vlaakith." So considering there are now clerics of Vlaakith...maybe?
@@Eugine1888Godhood in dnd is a matter of followers. The more people believe in you the more powerful you become. Celebrities would be Gods here. So the Gith made her a god, so she is a god. Of course, im simplifying it but basically kinda like 40k orcs. If enough believe you're a God, you're a god
Im not gonna lie that last "Gith" felt a bit too racist
I'd be racist of Gith too. They're xenophobic raiders and pillagers who seek to conquer Faerun. Not even in the first few hours and we already see examples of githyanki patrols slaughtering innocents. Anyone with half a wit would be wary of them.
It’s amazing how easily Western audiences notice racism everywhere, but completely fail to notice how at the same time they dehumanize entire peoples, for example Russians
“I’ve seen how your kind operates” Bold words from the Sharran, Cotton, let’s see how this plays out
Cotton?
@@LecherousLizardits a reference to a film called dodgeball
@@LuisGonzalez-hy6mz Oh. I'm not good with names, especially of side characters like that.
@@LecherousLizard I mean the Gith are a genocidal race and it’s heavily implied that Lazel has done her fair share. Shadowheart is nothing but a joke to the Sharrans, she’s just manipulated by them as a scared little girl.
We don't cotton to freaks 'round these parts, scram!
This happens for any Gith player character, not just Laezel
Baezel and shadowheat romance is wild
Gets insulted by a Shadowheart and there's a dialog option : Attack 😂😂😂😂
What a romantic couple…
I’ve read it in drow courtesan voice
I love Shadowheart, but Shar is a bad god. Imagine running a secret society and having your clerics run around with your name on their chest.
She was kidnapped this is the reason that she is at religion
@@pablosoto6325 I'm not disputing that, her personal journey is tragic; she is my best girl. I'm saying that Shar and the Clergy of Shar use intelligence as their dump stat. They're shunned and treated as criminals for following their god, and also wear her holy symbol on their chest while on a top secret mission.
THE BOX. YOU OPENED IT. I CAME.
I snicker at people calling Shadowheart racist. Never mind Lae'zel despises being called humanoid because she thinks Gith are far superior to humans. Or Voss demands them to "interrogate, kill, and then move on" at the bridge. 😂😂
Okay? That doesn’t mean that Shart isn’t racist.
Shadowheart and Lae'zel were both raised in xenophobic cultures/groups, they both carry a lot of that bigoted mindset, and, when they start actually engaging with the people they're bigoted against, they both very quickly realize that they were wrong.
Never mind the fact that Gith are all assholes even too each other, f there’s a race I’d dislike it’d be the Gith.
So Shadowheart can be racist bc others are too? Besides Voss is undercover as a Vlakith follower when he says those orders, and is actually chastising a fellow for having too much sadistic fun.
Lae'zel is more ignorant, Shadowhart is hostile, bc she knows she is antagonizing Gith for just having the relic. They don't have much self awareness, still Shadowheart's racism in these early scenes make her very unlikable bc the "hate what you fear" racism is much more dangerous than the kind Lae'zel has. Tho they both get better and kinder with character development.
Proof that without a player these two probably would have killed each other on the first day.
It's the red and green gobbler thing again
I got this scene just playing a Gith.
without Tav and durge these two would end up killing each other, this scene confirms it. Lae'zel would act so different
We need a cutscene where Lae'zel wipes the floor with shadowheart. She's real slick and loose with that tongue..
She really was like "GUH-ITH"
Shadowheart is not racist. She watched all her team and friends being slaughtered by the githyanki when they were sent for the artifact, just like that tiefling Zorru who's afraid of Lae'zel and calls her monster. Githyanki are cruel and arrogant (most of them at least)
She is a emo brat that is very judgemental and follows an evil deity. Redeemed she is tolarable though.
Those that aren't just "rare", they are basically unicorns.
I don't get why people call her racist when she's being careful around githyanki because she has their artifact. Outside that, she isn't very racist aside from goblins (then again, no one likes goblins just as no one likes the githyanki) The actual racist is Astarion. He reaaaally dislike gnomes and halflings. The man whines (and disapproves) when you agree to help the deep gnomes or even symphatize with them, and he approves when you kill the halfling in the hidden tunnels in the druid grove. Heck, when asking what he feeds on, he put gnomes and halflings in the same category as wild animals (he adds kobolds to the bunch too). Sure, he kind of grows out of it by the end but it's still amazing how people accuse Shadowheart being "racist" when Astarion's is way more blatant.
@@shaktosh524 Astarion is also the most sensible member of the group on top of it.
the sharrans literally stole a relic from the githyanki you really think they're gonna let them get away with that? no one is saying the githyanki are good, but shadowheart is still in the wrong for being ignorant just like how lae'zel is wrong for being ignorant too. y'all just find shadowheart hot.
My first playthough is as Lae'zel. But I see there are a bunch of cutscenes I missed just because I freed her on the Nautiloid. Heck, when we arrived at the grove she already was head over heels for me.
Shadowheart was shown off as the hot goth half elf gf, but soon became the hot racist goth half elf gf Still would
Playing as Lae'zel is my favorite
hmmhmmm is there any unique endings?
If you know the backstory of Shart more than you understand, why she seems to be so "racist" (btw. I think she is not really that racist -- maybe a small bit)
How did she manage to say Gith with a hard R?
Half-elf master race!
Think I would trigger her massively if she heard what I said about Shar
XD That aint Lae Zel. That is Nice Zel. Too nice.
Githyanki society has tried as hard as possible to make themselves out as villains. And that's ignoring the Lich queen.
You also get this scene if you miss her at the beach ;)
If you were successful at Persuasion when you did the Charisma check, what would she have said?
Shadowheart is alright 😅
This is what she says to any Gith surely?
I like the idea of playing one of the main characters but how can people let go of the amazing voice acting and settling with texts? I can never play with the characters with voice actors. Throughout the game, you are lacking without their amazing voice.
Does this play even if you rescue her from the pod? Or is that not possible as laezel?
Not quite so strongly, but yeah if you're gith then Shadowheart makes her displeasure known either way
To be fair, every other Githyanki other than Voss and Orpheus is very racist to anyone who isnt Gith.
What about Youth Varrl?
@@magister343 the guy that refuses to fight in the creche? He soes not live long enough
@@marbleherogaming735He is the only one alive in the Creche in my current playthrough. I knocked him out, healed him, talked with him about Orpheus, and then went on a murder spree. He got upset with me for being as bad at the Sarth when I killed everyone else there, but never turned hostile so I let him live.
I like how the two most racist characters are beefing with each other. Like Ike Turner calling Chris Brown a wife beater.
It's Interesting. How do you get the artifact if you don't join forces?
There's videos on what happens when you ignore Shadowheart throughout Act 1. The gist of it is: Shadowheart will come to you and wants to join you, you have to accept or you cannot continue.
One time I tried to sneak to the goblin camp solo, even though I recruited Shadowheart. And then the artifact just decided to appear in my inventory to protect me from the voice of absolute. So it's a railroad mcguffin regardless. And yes, it got then stuck in my inventory without the option to move it back to Shadowheart.
how do you get Lae'zel to meet Shart for the first time in, what looks like, the Hollows?
When on the Nautiloid, don't save Shadowheart from the pod. Walk on by. Then don't recruit her when she is trying to get into the ruins. Go forth. Get everyone else if you want. Do the fight before entering the Grove. She should be sitting next to the Oxs. Talk to her there.
WHAT IS HER PROBLEM???????? I'm on my third playthrough of the game right now and I still can't tell why she's like this towards the Gith.
They're racist space facists who kill anyone in their way, and Shadowheart stole one of their relics. Naturally, she's not happy to see them.
I didnt get this scene, but I think I know why. Shart is only at the grove if you do save her but dont wake her up at the beach. Playing as laezel, i saved her and woke her up at the beach.
She’s also there if you initially refuse to let her team up with you in general.
Betazael
Damn this must be the most beta choice of dialogue i’ve ever seen
I mean, her points about the gith aren’t wrong. They’re weird goblin elves that raid and kill not gith like they’re larping as the Imperium of Man. They kinda are larping as the imperium of man.
Imperium of Man has reasons though. Gith essentially kill for the lulz now.
If you save her, she is the one that offers to go with you, just like any normal gameplay if you save her.
Yes thought it was odds she say no as she yes most time.
People do not know gith wer villain in these game for long time like neverever winter 1 and 2 gith are slaughter village and ect
Blame it on Larian bad writing. Unless you explore the Creche 100%, you won't know they basically killed everybody in the area for the lulz and, except for that, I don't think there's one clue pointing out that Githyanki are literally, unironically, worse than Hitler. Mind flayers are basically pests in comparison.
this is not a secret scene
Kind of reminds me of Ashley in Mass Effect. Incredibly Xenophobic at the beginning due to indoctrination
Should you be watermarking things you don't own? All you did was put about 30 minutes of time into getting to that point.
This is done so that people at least make the video themselves, and not just re-upload mine.
Not really a secret. Just uncommon
Never got Lae'zel..i found her dead near the bridge....WTF did i do wrong
If you don't save them in the prologue, they'll end up dead at the beach or whatever. You can just use resurrection scroll. Heck, you can even kill Astarion from stealth for the lulz, then revive him and he'll have a special interaction.
@@LecherousLizard thank you for info. I saved her in the prologue, i thought maybe took to long to get to the bridge. Ill go resurrect her thanks again.
@awhellnah__ They didn't. The closer to the beginning of the game you are, the more of such little nods you find. They are almost completely absent before you even complete Act 1. Hell, the fact you can only resurrect potential teammates at the very start of the game (like aforementioned Astarian, but not, say, Minthara), is a huge change from DnD, because in DnD you can resurrect anybody willing, depending on how long ago they died and if they are willing (which would be almost anybody really). And if they aren't willing you got at least half a dozen ways to convince them.
I think you progressed to the grove too soon, before encountering er in the cage a little bit north west of where you find gale. In my second playthrough I missed Lae'zel until after saving the grove. I found her fighting along with some other Gith against the death shepherds and other undead, but she died almost as soon as I saw her. I was able to use a scroll of revivification on her, much to my surprise as it normally does not work with characters who are not currently in your party. I knew it did not work on Minthara when I killed her by mistake, and it doesn't work on any NPCs. My team was injured enough in that battle that I had to take a long rest, which triggered the Tiefling party. Reviving Lae'zel got me a big approval boost with her, so she propositioned me for sex immediately
@@magister343 Interesting, I didn't realize it was possible for Lae'zel to get to the Mountain Pass without joining your party. I heard she always died at the bridge from her interaction with Voss. I guess you can avoid that if you go to the Mountain Pass through the Goblin Camp. Also I just realized you said she's fighting along with other Gith in the Mountain Pass! That's interesting because I always find those other Gith dead by the time I get to that fight. So cool how Larian has all these deviations depending on the smallest choices.
When 2 tsundere’s meet
My racist queen
not racistheart! 💀
Shadowheart is so incredibly racist... She truly is the most perfect and flawless character of all times
Dunno if it’s racism exactly for the sake of it or the fact that that she stole from the Githyanki and knows they’ll want that artefact back. Plus they must’ve killed the rest of the Sharran infiltration team she was apart of.
@@waimarieheap5608 She's a 1/2 elf, they're kinda known for being racist. Not to mention Githyanki if you know about them, are known to be violent murderous thugs. if you got to Act 2 you'd see my point (don't wanna say more). There was ONE good Githyanki in the entire game and unless you save his life he ends up dead fast poor dumb kid didn't wanna kill his Cretchmates.
Tbf, Gith deserves every bit of hate. They hunt down the mindflayers better than anyone, saving countless planes, but they also often kills on sight "lesser races".
@@deadworld953 what are you yapping about? I’m just saying Shadowheart’s “racism” and weariness toward githyanki is based on her recent experiences with them - the death of her Sharran brothers and sisters, and her carrying an item she stole from them. It does not come from irrational prejudice.
@@waimarieheap5608 Very true. Whether people want to admit it or not, Githyanki are dangerous zealots brainwashed by an evil queen and will kill you without a second thought. It's not racism if what you say is true about someone.
When a Republican meets literally anyone else.
Soyjacks in the comments: nooooo shadowheart is racist!!1! Meanwhile Lae'zel and every single gith on the plane: I S T I K
I'd like the video but the watermark kills me. Funny scene. You do realize anyone could play this scene exactly the same and make it, not to mention AI can easily remove watermarks in images and video now? I mean I use it all the time to remove the patreon watermarks from the people I "support" for maps just so it's cleaner. I do also always tell my players where I got the art because the artist deserves credit.
The poster explained to someone else they did the watermark so anyone wanting to upload this scene will at least do it themselves instead of copy/pasting their footage.
I can't stand Lae'zel. 🤢🤮
