North Fork of the Coeur D'Alene River | Coeur D'Alene National Forest, Idaho

It was Jordan's first backpacking trip! He's gone out on plenty of day trips but it's his first overnight with us and his first night in a hammock!
This trip was designed to be fairly easy. We didn't want Jordan to have to go a long distance on his first trip and at this time of year we can only go to so many places. So it was back to the North Fork!
This is truly a special place! Come along with us as we explore the North Fork of the Coeur D'Alene River!
Thanks to Ashley for the custom dominos! They are one of a kind!

  • Beautiful...brings back a lot of nice memories. Lived in the area way back in the 70s and 80s. I love Coeur d' Alene! Thanks for the video

    • The North Fork is a special place to me! It really is the gem of North Idaho!

    • @Mountain Wanderer I agree. But really ,there are so many gems in North Idaho. I used to live in Cougar Gulch, and I have a uncle up in Harrison. I wonder if it's changed much? I suppose it has...

  • I like what you said about the peaceful sound of the river washing away worries. Nature is awesome like that.

    @SaraB1686@SaraB1686 Жыл бұрын
    • So true! Sometimes that water that washes away worries isn't flowing sideways along a river, sometimes it comes straight down from the sky.. almost the whole trip... but it still has the same affect.😉

  • Your photography is outstanding. Of course the landscape helps. Music pretty cool as well. Any RV camping nearby?

    • Thank you! RV camping is something I don't know much about. There are campgrounds all of the way up the North Fork. They get more primitive the farther north you go.

  • Terrific video, Travis. You really know how to capture the essence of being out hiking/camping. Good job on the editing too. It's noticed! Sometimes the best trips out are the ones like you did, A short hike in, set up camp and take a zero (or two) and just enjoy "what is". I remember being Jason's age and my dad would take me out....I'd have this melancholy look on my face all the time, just appear to be going through the motions....then we'd get home and I'd get on the phone and tell all my friends what an awesome time I had out in the woods with the old man. My dad would walk by and just shake his head. Perplexing on the critter. Racoons will sneak off with bags of food and bowls etc but the chewed up jacket doesn't line up. Mice got in, started chewing, racoon heard the commotion and took over??? I've had 'coons literally open coolers and steal food, while we were still up sitting around the fire. Brazen little bastards. Thanks for posting and take care! Tom

  • Looks like a fun trip. Love that drone shot during the fishing attempt. Sometimes they're biting, sometimes not! Damn, whatever got at your jacket sure went to town on it! Little bastards!

    • The river was pretty high with all of the snow melt, and there are restrictions on what you can use in the river. Still fun though! We're still trying to figure out what got into my gear... killed that jacket though..😞

  • That was fun. Good drone shots. How you telekineticaly made the dice come back into your hand was epic. Good to see a teenager out there in the wood rather than in front of an Xbox or Iphone.Those custom dominoes are bad ass.

  • June 29th up on Salmo Wilderness Area the Salmo Basin trail still has 2-5 ft of snow on the trail. Salmo Divide is the same. Tons of blowdown so if you attempt it in the next 30 days, GOOD LUCK. Good to you neighbor. Love to do a hike with you sometime 💪

  • I see you have three of the 10 essentials for backpacking: Pretzels, beef jerky, and whiskey. That sucks to have your gear destroyed and Timber's food eaten but at least it happened at the end. I had a longer trip ruined due to racoons on the Oly peninsula. As someone just said...bastards!
