Welcome to a new Liminal Spaces game called POOLS.
One could say POOLS is like an art gallery where you look around and listen to the sounds. There are very few things to solve, practically a few mazes. Sometimes the game can challenge your navigation skills. But mostly you're just... there.

The fact that there's no blood or body parts everywhere as you progress further surrounded by pristine white shiny tiles makes it even more creepy kinda like a insane asylum look.

Even the slightest sound in such a silent space (the first splash stepping into the water) feels like a neon sign pointing you out. Makes one feel watched

These games should have an option to speak in realtime into the mic and generate an appropriately echoed sound based on your given location. Imagine being able to shout anything from “hello? is anybody there?” to ripping a loud beer chug burp or wet pool fart that reverberates through the halls and chambers.

Man this is one of the non horror games that's creeped me out the most... the place is like a dream, but then in many moments it turns into a nightmare. This is the best game about liminal spaces for me, by far. Very eerie vibe, and very well done.

This reminded me of how depression felt, to me at least. Eventually becomes familiar and you become cozy with the emptiness it brings upon everyday, but when you’re out it’s so much better and you realize there are glimpse of light in the rooms because there is an outside. Gives time to introspect but also time to get lost and find your way only to come to understand your brokenness… sometimes nothing can be done than just accept we live “here”and there seems to be no exit, loosing yourself along the way trying to find the way out. So sometimes one just ends up being, it is what it is, it will be what is. If I die in here then I die, if I survive then I will know what light is behind such windows I pass by everyday. One can become accustomed to living in such “liminal spaces”. Glad to be out nonetheless. Becoming familiar with the outside and its natural light and darkness without seeing my surroundings all still and dormant like these “liminal spaces”.

i love the slightest detail the developers put in the game of when you come out of the water your footsteps are wet and squeaky and slowly go back to normal steps.
To make it more realistic they should have you just being able to fart like this really just rip ass. like after I get a 20 piece from White Castle and I just blow it out he need to put those kind of physics in the game. And then you start coughing cuz you're like. What the hell did I just eat? I once had some bacon fries I farted so hard. I thought I was going to shoot my pants off. That's an impact on. What a day.

@@degenr8 What I was saying was you know when you get that 20 piece from White Castle and you're just blowing out the toilet. They should put those kind of physics in the game like I should just be able to blowout the toilet if there was a toilet in the game.
@@Eric-jk3oi I feel you brother. So few games let you fart and even fewer (if any?) have pooping mechanics. They put lots of effort into making realistic games, but you will often see toilets with no way to use them. How realistic is that? It just doesn't make sense especially since it wouldn't take much work to implement. What would be even cooler is if they took it to the next level. Imagine (using your 20 white castles scenario) you drop a big one with a weight of, say, ~4 Courics. You try to flush, but uh oh! It won't go down! Now you have to try to find a poop knife, or at least a plunger or a stick, and cut/mash it down to size so that it will flush. Also it would be nice to have the option to leave an upper-decker if you so desire. Then when you flush the toilet, of course, the bowl fills with brown water. There are so many possibilities and we haven't even talked about peeing yet! Pee in toilets, pools, walls, floors, NPCs, etc. If you pee in a toilet but don't flush it for a while, the toilet bowl begins taking on a yellow tinge. If you pee on the floor and don't clean it up, the floor makes a sticky sound when walking through it. I could go on and on.
Light off gives a more natural but still crystal clear look
Prefer it way more. cozy atmosphere so i can watch it while i sleep
The fingers on the underwater ladder were a perfect scare. Not a jumpscare, per the promise, but definitely enough to make you go “oh hell no.”

I used to have dreams that my parents house would have secret rooms in it and they would be exactly like how this game is. Thats what gives that extra layer of uneasiness to it for me

Its like the backrooms. Your stuck in a endlessly looping area that never ends and once your in it your lost forever. There's no monsters chasing you because the endless void of nothing everywhere is enough to drive some people crazy. I think id loose it if I was alone on a large sinking ship with thousands of rooms and all you hear is creaking sounds and things exploding as the ship sinks.
The low light is fine with me. Also, blue light glasses are a godsend, and with you being in front of screens so much, you’ll probably get a lot of relief!

The low lighting is wayyy better! Sometimes you’re playing a dark horror game and you’re lit up like a Christmas tree and it can be very distracting & difficult to get immersed in the game!
“Hypercomfortable games” would be my name for it. What can make it unsettling at times is that as a person you are adjusted to a certain amount of chaos around you. Your environment is so comfortable in these games your mind tells you something must be off.

That, and the hands at 11:33. This game wasn’t that unsettling to me until that moment. Now at 26:02 and still not seated comfortably again.

I think this was a literal trip through a person’s mind/ brain… what greater personification of a liminal space than your mind? You dream there, think there, remember there, forget there, learn there, and so much more. From one moment to the next we can change, grow, and evolve. We can make of our mind a palace, a back room, a shack, or even a junk shop. Most of us have an amalgamation of all those things inside of us which makes our brains a truly liminal space.
I like this so much that I put up with his bad decisions when he games 😂. He looked at the map and didn’t know it was a map. He also kept saying that the game said that no one was there, but the game literally never says that. That’s how I know he’s a good person because he can’t game, but I love watching him.

@@gsgdavainetg903it literally never said no one was there. It only specified that there were no monsters chasing you and no jump scares. Not once did it mention that people would be there. Yes, I watched intro, I’ve watched it multiple time now to reassure myself.

this triggered my thalassophobia (fear of deep water) and fear of the unknown in so many ways yet could not stop watching, will definitely try (with company) amazing concept and graphics, love these types of odd games (like transference for instance) really enjoyed the video p.s. its like so many scenes are taken straight out of my uneasy dreams and nightmares

I have too much anxiety for this game. I could never go down that suspended slide for fear that the change would break, the slide would drop in the water, and suddenly I would have to swim my way down the rest of the way. Hello panic, my old friend.
your face being lit by the screen actually makes the video so much more immersive. feels like you're really there in the environment with dynamic ambient light.

Even if there was 100 people in there with me. I still would get a heart attack in there. Imagine if it was me alone. This game is soo beautiful, scary and calming. I can't even explain. But it triggers all emotions.
Don't know if you know this or not, but fun fact or creepy fact, the rubber ducks turn into the direction of which you are If you turn around or like walk into a different direction, the ducks will turn towards you and look at you constantly

There’s actually a hidden horror element to this game that Hollow unfortunately missed out on. Other KZhead channels have discovered the hidden horror element.

Another good recommendation thanks! The developers did a great job playing on primeval fears like having the water around the waist at the same time as being trapped in dark places.

1:22:30 After zooming in and seeing his daddy dom in the doorway, he realized he was screwed and decided to take a submissive and breed-able pose on the table so that the mannequins could have their way with him and so daddy would would have a good view of the action. It was the perfect ending to the perfect game. 10/10 would breed again.

This is the first video of yours I’ve ever watched but just wanted to say I totally agree that the cam is great without light because it’s actually so refreshing not having a super bright highly lit person on screen
Honestly, the quality of the channel and content is what rules! And j thought you did the cam on surprise for the game. I thought there was a candle in the background. But I did that ambience. It looks cool! I understand some games you want the full immersion with no cam but it is nice to see that commentary with some games.

I would say the low light is even better. It gives the room more of an atmosphere. Plus we get the interaction of the game you’re playing showing light difference when the game gets brighter and shines on your face. It makes the whole video more immersive. Keep up the good work sir.
So all of those “Chairs” you seen throughout are actually Intractable like the chairs in front of the Lamb. I am positive they are for an ambiance effect to help heighten the feel of the ambiance!
I actually think the low light looks WAY better. Especially with the lamp in the background. Warm, dim light makes the whole space look super relaxing and cozy. I say keep the light off.

on the note of indoor pools. We do here in Iceland have public indoor pools, kinda big on the public pool idea and so I grew up going to indoor pools, saunas, hot tubs, steam baths, infrared saunas, slides, sea water pools and other kinds of watery fun for nearly free. It shocks me that you haven't been to an indoor pool

They should do this with procedural map generation; it would be like an infinite space. And you could have mazes and puzzles interspersed throughout. A good couple of stories from other people who got lost where you find journals etc. And maybe a way of escaping at the end.

Lighting is fine! Honestly might even work better in the sense that it doesn't immediately draw focus away from the game, but you can't rid of the face cam entirely. The ambient light is good! This should be a huge relief though, no need to give yourself more headaches!
Having the light off is also just cozier and easier on the eyes for us too so if you want please keep the light off!

blue light computer glasses are your friend. i’ve been working in front of computers for 10 years and just got myself some this year, the relief i get from them is incredible. the low light looks great in the face cam! really settles into the horror aesthetic!
I hate to be that guy but blue light lenses have no evidence of relieving eyes based on multiple researches, so what youre feeling is probably placebo if im being real
