This opening sequence was what made me think this movie was scary as a kid...
One of the best music openings ever...
Agreed
It’s almost dying for a Hip-Hop remix.
One of My oldest memories are linked to this intro. I love it
You have to appreciate the background paintings of the Jungle as the credits are rolling!
2:08 Love how they show the water.
2:08 I like how they also reused most of this background for The Rescuers.
I think that they only used one of the backgrounds
Even if this is not failtful to the books outside of the names the music is excellent and fits the books imo. That being said this is an excellent animated movie with hand draw animation that no computor can make.
sighhh fond memories…
Upon The Jungle Book's release on October 18th, 1967, it became a blockbuster hit and praising Phil Harris, Louie Prima and Sterling Holloway's performances of Baloo the Bear, King Louie and Kaa the Snake, respectively

Friday 2nd February 2024. I love The Jungle Book and Mowgli and Baloo are my favourite characters. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Bless you and best of luck. From Virginia Clark.?! ;) ;( :) 🥲❤️🐺🐻🐯
This was the first movie I ever saw.
In October 1967, when the movie was released in theatres, people would've been excited and sad at the same time. They would've said: Man, Walt Disney died last year and he never saw the film ever premiere. Bummer"
this is so nostalgic it hurts
Nostalgia 😭😭😭😭😭😭
It’s sad Walt Disney won’t see the release and successful of his final masterpiece made by his own hands
He kind of did. The afterlife is more real than any reality. He’s aware.

The jungle book isn’t that much of my favorite movie, but this sounds pretty good
Magnificent main titles theme.
It is superb! I can remember sitting in a movie theater in 1967 and being enthralled at this opening.
Has anyone else realized that they didn’t use stop motion to open the book?
How did they do it?
Back then they use Storybook openings
Good-bye, "L" in "Jungle Book." See you in "Black Cauldron."

Just out of curiosity, did the animators base the paintings of the temples (shown at 1:57) on Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia?
Last Disney movie with Walt's involvement. He died the year this was released. Im surprised there was no "In memory of Walt Disney" or anything in the credits. Normally when anyone who had special involvement in movies dies during production the movie is dedicated in their memories. Beauty and the Beast for example was dedicated in Howard Ashmen's memory. He wrote the songs in that movie as well as The Little Mermaid.
I think sher Kahn would be a perfect pet for Cecil Gus and Reginald from night at the museum And I should know the fight between Larry and the three old man are very similar to baloo and sher Kahn

As a child, this was one of my favourite. But now in my 20s, I’m starting to open my eyes to what it really is: A racist interpretation of imperialism and colonialism
The original book was written by Rudyard Kipling, so that goes without saying
Whoa!
Who actually made this music??
