    • It's interesting that he did that in the tenth after playing possum in the ninth. I think he was just reading Joshua, then understood what he was going to do (try and bully Usyk) in the next round. Usyk was playing chess, Joshua was taking advantage of bait. Usyk's fight IQ is all time great in boxing.

  • I feel most people don't understand how phenomenal of a boxer usyk actually is, his footwork, cardio, work rate, adjustability, and his skills and IQ as a whole. He's a master boxer and while he lacks in size his skills make up for it I think people are underestimating him against fury I'm not saying it'll be easy but I can definitely see usyk beating fury

    • I think so too. A lot of the size and height advantages Fury has are not necessarily going to work against him. Once you have to literally lean a foot down to hit someone I imagine you have to compromise your punches a little. Hes not going to be able to just lean on Usyk, Usyk is much too slick. And despite his size Fury is not a huge puncher or known for his strength. Usyk has dealt handily with stronger men. Lastly in terms of actual technique, they are probably quite similar, the difference being that Fury's level seems better than it is because its being judged in relation to the fact hes a giant and men that big do not move as well. Usyk truly does have elite foot and head movement, not just for a heavyweight but for someone much smaller. If Usyk defeats Fury he should be considered one of the best pound for pound fighters ever. One thing for guys to go up 2, 3 classes when theyre small but doing going up from cruiserweight to heavy with this success is a whole other thing. Maybe would occupy a weird status where he would not be considered the greatest heavyweight or cruiserweight ever or anything but must be considered one of the best overall boxers in terms of accomplishments. This is one of those cases where if he was a Fury/Mayweather/McGregor type showman there would be no underrating him. With whats going on right now and the fact hes such a stand up guy from the Ukraine too, he'd be the biggest star in the world. He doesnt speak in english enough or get up to any antics to keep him in the news other than every time he destroys another elite boxer lol.

I would say even more so than Mayweather, simply because Usyk is doing this dangerous dance in front of men vastly bigger than himself. And his punching power is deceptive. Its not one punch knockout power but I the way he flicks his wrists and creates angles gives those strikes an added something that Im sure his opponents feel. Would you rather watch someone like Wilder stumble around throwing super-powered but completely artless haymakers? Serious question.

Because he wasn't a star until the WIlder fights where as AJ was always the more hyped and promoted boxer because he was simply more active and more fun to watch, it was the AJ/Wilder era until Fury beat Wilder. So if you started watching during the Fury vs Wilder feud then this makes sense. But I disagree about AJ being overhyped he's a specimen yes but he has legit boxing skills and besides the Ruiz fight which he made a mistake after knocking Ruiz down he tried finish it and got caught with an ear shot that took his equilibrium same thing Fury did to Wilder in 2nd fight. But he beat Ruiz handidly in rematch but lost twice to Usyk because Usyk is the best boxer in the world. So I rate AJ still as the 3rd best HW behind Fury and Usyk and still think AJ has the talent to beat Fury but it's unlikely he would.

  • I finally built-up the courage to watch this fight. Always knew Joshua (the bigger stronger STIFFER) fighter would be outclassed by the smaller quicker, FLUID Usyk - it was always going to be a problem. Frankly, AJ didn't do as badly as I feared - he can hold his head up high. His failing is where I know that Fury will succeed for sure - putting his weight on the little guy and making him carry the extra 260 pounds! Those legs will tire out quickly, and he will be there for the taking. I've literally seen Fury do it to a smaller guy before - some cruiser weight coming up to heavy who outboxed and outclassed Fury for like 4 rounds until the Gypsy King got tired of the dancing and just laid on the poor fella. It was over in 2 rounds after that. Poor geezer went back down to cruiserweight and was never heard from again.
