I learnt to do all that in 1969 darling when I was 17 setting up profiles.wall lines on nails and setting up lines.a lot of work.why you not use concrete blocks below ground.or concrete what you can up to a few courses below damp.doing all that work below ground is all unesesarry waste of space.time consuming you could easily shutter most of that and concrete it solid.bison block and beam floors laid on concrete blocks laid flat start your face work on the blocks built your internal block work on the beams.like most new builds are done these days.doing all that bricklaying in footing we did that in the seventys and timber joist floors no good for modern tiled floors.and under floor heating.using dirty old flettons below ground is a no no if you must do that why you not use engineering bricks.and yes I am city guilds qualified.i worked for animal around london for over 35 years

Seconds , there are no cheap bricks anymore, it’s my own choice I can’t be arsed lifting blocks and it gives the big G to have a run in without doing any damage, from my side it’s win win , cheers for watching 👍👍👊
@@BuildingwithBudd Them trench blocks look ok in that situation but I've never seen one or layed one just don't get them in my area. We just mass pour to 5 or 6 course below DPC depending on insulation.I couldn't be doing all that trench foot stuff these days reminds me of the 70s 😁
I’ve got to say they are an instant footing, and if someone pays me to use and lay them I do, but I won’t use them on my own house, I did a job a few years ago. An extension to a property, when pulled the footings out the existing foundation we’re trench blocks and they were wet , when you rubbed them they just crumbled in your hand. Just don’t sit right with me, cheers for watching 👍🧱
@@BuildingwithBudd Totally agree, I've always had my doubts with lightweight blocks below DPC now you have confirmed it 👍👍
I don’t think we are the only ones , but that’s how building is now everything quick, cheers 👍👍
Sorry, I don't get it. Are these the foundation of a house? Some bricks, 0.5 meter in the soil? That's it? Nevertheless, great art.
What don’t you get ?
@@BuildingwithBudd What I'm trying to figure out is, where are the foundations? It appears that the house "rests" on the ground. Doesn't it have foundations in the form of concrete stilts that penetrate the ground, or any other elements? How are these houses built? That's what interests me. I am from Israel, and here every structure must have some kind foundations. Thank you for your time.
@@michaelsteinmann529 all those bricks are laid on concrete. Probably 600mm or more depending on the ground its in I guess.
Michael, the brickwork is built, on a footing which is made of concrete which in turn is, 600mm wide by 750mm in depth, you don’t always have to that deep it depends on the soil conditions, hope this helps many thanks for watching 👍👍
Quick question bud ?? How come you use London bricks below dpc we always have to use engineering bricks below damp ? As I said just a question I’m not knocking anything you do your work is awesome if only every bricklayer had the same standards as you 👍👍
David I’ve been using all types of bricks up to damp all my life, but very rarely used engineering bricks, just how I’ve always been taught, if you go on the big sites it’s all trench blocks, if someone pays me to use those I will, but never on my own projects, appreciate you watching 👍👍👍👊
Thanks for the reply bud I’ve never done site work doesn’t interest me I couldn’t spend £600 a day😂 I’m going to have a word with the architect next extension we do , engineering bricks are a pain if the weather isn’t just so , I’m going to tell him if it’s good for bud it’s good for me 👍👍
I’ve never ever in 40 years been told to use engineering bricks up to DPC, been told to do manholes and for padstones, maybe it’s different parts of the country, this is old Norfolk 👍👍
It must be bud 32 years on the trowel always had to use the bloody things!!! I’m moving to Norfolk 👍👍😂😂😂
I've always been taught either concrete or engineering bricks below dpc because they transfer less damp
A cure for insomnia
Glad it’s good for something 😊😊👍
London bricks out the deck hmmmm?? Like digestive biscuits mate
Never in 40 years have I ever used London bricks below dpc, always been engineering, once I even had BC stipulate use engineering brick, instead of London brick which were specify..
Well I’m the opposite in 40 years never had to brick up to DPC in engineering bricks never, but it doesn’t mean I’m right or wrong, cheers for watching 👍👍
What you building now budd
Double garage boss , cheers for watching 👍👍
👍👍👍many thanks for reply budd
No problem 👍
here again i found it hard to let go of old traditions of old school skills glad i am out of it now..plymouth
Cheers for your comments boss 👍👍
Engineering below ground level !!
Sod that.! Trench blocks all day.! Each to their own I suppose 🤷what do you do internally seeing you don’t like laying concrete block.???
We don’t many situations where we use concrete blocks, it’s either footings, sometimes load baring walls, or I have built pig sty’s out of them, but if I have a choice I let someone else do it, don’t need them in my life any more, cheers for watching 👍👍👊
Why you not used blocks below ground bud
Don’t want to hump concrete blocks around, and if someone pays me I will lay trench blocks, but won’t use them on my own place, I’ve seen what happens to them after a few years in the ground, so I use bricks because it’s nice and comfortable to use, plus it gives big G a chance to lay a few without messing anything up , it’s that simple 👍👍
That’s definitely simple 👍
@@dciburnsidesniffsniff6119 do I detect a bit of sarcasm 😂
Garage cost more in footin than an house, haha
Nice work but it’s taken ya over 5 minutes to lay 1 brick ? Not trying to knock ya but how is anyone gunna earn money at that speed
It’s not about the money just trying to show how you do it, it’s my own place, that’s it I’m not trying to show how to lay 1000 bricks , done all that, cheers for watching, sniff sniff 👍
Cheers for the reply bud as I say weren’t out to knock ya Hands upon was wrong with my comment and want to apologise 👍 The point is I do watch ya channel have a good weekend 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣
No problem, many thanks for watching 👍👍
Delvin when I find ya I’m gunna do ya 👍
Surprised the local building inspector allows you to use brick below grade.
Been using them like this for 40 years, that’s how I was taught, I use trench blocks when someone puts them in front of me , 👍
@@BuildingwithBudd Things change, codes change and there is a reason for it.
I’ agree things move forward, I’ve never dug down on to an existing footing and found an LBC disintegrating but I have dug down and found trench block turning to mush, but that’s just my experience, I would never use trench blocks on my own place, but that’s just me , cheers 👍
Shouldn't be using LBC below ground!!
Yikes, londons in the ground
You would last 2 minutes on site with real bricklayers
I think this is a joke or just troll video.
All these builders sellers are making hundreds of thousands of dollars. And the poor bricklayer is working for free like a dog. Bricklayer should be getting $10 a brick. That is still way under priced. Absolutely pathetic
Ive been bricklaying for 32 years, i have never seen this tip tapping and faffing about. How do you make any jobs pay? You seem a nice bloke but wow.
Painful to watch
🐌 🐌 🐌
Dont watch it then! If your better or faster make a video for everyone to watch
He is doing a tutorial, bet you're fast as fuck but ya work looks shit like most line monkeys .
Very painful to watch as a master bricklayer this guy is doing everything the long way probably took him two hours to build that two course of brickwork
@@blackboyskillit You do realise it's a tutorial video don't you???
My god so slow 🐌
Why lay bricks as footing? Way to expensive and not very stable. No one does this in North America. and does not meet building code. Ever hear of 8 inch concrete block dowel and filled with concrete? Sorry Budd not for us! Why single width wall?
I learnt to do all that in 1969 darling when I was 17 setting up profiles.wall lines on nails and setting up lines.a lot of work.why you not use concrete blocks below ground.or concrete what you can up to a few courses below damp.doing all that work below ground is all unesesarry waste of space.time consuming you could easily shutter most of that and concrete it solid.bison block and beam floors laid on concrete blocks laid flat start your face work on the blocks built your internal block work on the beams.like most new builds are done these days.doing all that bricklaying in footing we did that in the seventys and timber joist floors no good for modern tiled floors.and under floor heating.using dirty old flettons below ground is a no no if you must do that why you not use engineering bricks.and yes I am city guilds qualified.i worked for animal around london for over 35 years
John Fully appreciate your comments, I’ve done it this way because it’s my own place and I want to show my boy the old school real way of working in footings, plus he wants to learn so it is an ideal situation to let him have ago without messing anything up , and make him appreciate how good he has it in his world of IT , I can’t disagree with what you say, but I’m doing it this way because I can, many thanks for watching 👍👍🧱
@@BuildingwithBudd sent your children to university.keep them away from building sites.they will end up like me with sun indused skin cancer.and spinal damage so I cant get out the bath and can't bend down to put my socks on.its even painfull driving a car.
I know how that feels, if you watch me trying to put a pair of socks on or a pair of wellie boots, it must be like watching some sort of comedy sketch, 👍👍
Get set sq ffs
London commons below ground , never ever, tip tap tip tap tip tap, and no ties, different!
