    • I recently just got rid of my alienware m15 r4 that I picked up last year. Dell's customer service actually sucks dude. They say its next day support however, they always have an excuse about shipping and receiving parts. They made me wait 90 days to replace the fans on the heatsink and those fans ended up dying out over a few months. Ontop of that, I had two of these models at one point and can confirm that the temperature of the gpu ON AVERAGE, would be around 90 something degrees c. I had to use throttlestop to lower the temps and the lowest they got during gaming was 76 degrees c. PLEASE save your money and just get a desktop. if a desktop isn't an option, go with anything else but dell/alienware.

    • @@scottspiegel9078 nope, my 2019 razer blade 15's battery slowly inflated until I saw it, disconnected it and stopped using it, otherwise it could have exploded in my hands. I had to send it for repair and waited a month to get anything back, the good news is, they were not capable of repairing it, was still under warranty amd they had no stock on the model, so I received a late 2021 model with brand new 11th gen intel processor, rtx 3070 instead of 2070, 360hz instead of 240hz, thunderbolt 4, advanced Optimus and 2 nvme ssd slots, so I decided not to complain much, it was quite the upgrade, but it's still not ok to have batteries that can easily explode, specially since the best explanation was overheating, that's a design flaw not a customer miss use.

  • We all have different aftersales experiences. As for me, I’ve bought an Alienware m15 from Dell US in 2019 before the pandemic hit. I had a BIOS issue with my unit and got stuck in Singapore but Dell gladly repaired my unit that came along with their global premium support warranty. It was the best aftersales service I got for a non-Apple consumer product and it made me really confident about Dell products that I’m considering to ship in an Alienware x17 from the US for my next laptop upgrade.

  • The support and funding behind these companies are really damned important. That's something I've learned the hard way after owning my Gigabyte Aero 15X for 4 years. When you need to send your computer in because it broke, it may have to go all the way back to HQ halfway around the world (I had to RMA my laptop 3 times in 1.5 months before they finally gave me a new device). They may not have the money to continue updating drivers like they should (Gigabyte hasn't released new BIOS drivers in 2 years, leading to stupid issues like sleep mode causing battery drain). These smaller companies seemingly cannot provide the experience you deserve when shelling out $2K+ for a computer. That's why my next computer is going to be from Asus. The experience of owning a laptop is more than just the performance numbers; be careful who you buy from.

They’ve only recently started carrying Gigabyte laptops at Best Buy (maybe within the last year). Regardless of their size, they just aren’t giving the service they should on a laptop I paid $2,241.56 for. I kinda wish apple would just get into the gaming scene, because, personally, I prefer macOS and Apple’s incredible service. I’d be more than okay shelling $3K for a MBP if it could game.

    • Gigabyte is small company? Dude the heck you talking about. They may not be a giant like asus and dell but they are big company. The reason you trouble happen is because they aren’t really active in mobile department. Gigabyte actually share the biggest pieces in computer parts. Specially in asia. Asian trust gigabyte from early 2000 more than msi, asus. Only shaken a bit after lately damage due to “psu problem”. I’m sorry to hear your story but it’s gigabyte false and there’s no excuse. Even Razer a small company doing razer taxes make it hard to sell can still provide some decent updates, even a smaller individual line up tongfeng can provide these little things. We needed the bare minimum service at least in 2-3 years for high end products. If you can’t fix it through online? Then send it back. I don’t accept the kind of answer “because we are small” from giant company. Rubbish. Ps: also i don’t think asus can provide better than other laptop conpany. But if you like asus then go for it, at least they don’t blame on being small. But if you need service fast for your company’s or work’s sake then the better i suggest is apple (you can bring to any apple store but will be charge premium for couple days), dell (help you out from online to offline, and even when you in company), acer hp vs lenovo (will trying to solve it out as temporary and will send technicians to check it out on schedule). But suggest put acer at the least of them all because acer kinda suck in their product line up. You can sum asus, msi and other company in one group (send to your dealer or head quarter)

I get so much information in 8:32 minutes. I am using X17 R1 (the old 11th gen Intel), I love your comparison and info you give here. The extended part makes Alienware a bit oversized and they are big. Alienware X14 is in an awkward position because it's supposed to be smol, but it is not. Above all else I'm hoping that this next generation of DTR's with the >55W S-BGA chips work on their combined power figures; 75W+175W is decent, but I feel they should be pushing for this in the X17 and GE77 for example, where as devices such as the GT77 and a potential Area 51M R3 would be pushing for something like 95W-105W+175W, and devices like the X15 and GE67 push for 55W+175W.

  • For the past two years for me: Asus vs. Lenovo These two companies are making the best gaming laptops for me. Razer would be the option if you want a "macbook" for gaming purposes which is thin and light and well build. Alienware is when one do not care about price, but for LEDs. Otherwise Lenovo Legion 5/7 and Asus ROG devices have the best cooling solutions, superb performance and exceptional displays.

  • I bought an Alienware in 2019 and it has served me well. My only real issue is that I bought it from Best Buy and I found out too late that I could have gotten the same system directly from Dell with a better screen for the same price. If I had it to do over, I would just take the money and build a nice new desktop instead. My thought when getting the laptop was portability, but it's barely left my desk.

  • If I had to choose between these two. I'd pick the Dell. Just because Razer has so many issues. Like with the power connection breaking, etc. But I'd rather get a mid-range laptop that meets my needs, as the money I save I can put towards an upgrade when the time comes.

  • Regarding support, although I have read really bad reviews, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dell support. Before I went to the dark side with Apple, I most recently had an Alienware X51 R2 which came with a mechanical hard drive (this was some years ago now). I wanted to replace it with an SSD I had bought (ssd's were relatively new to the market at this time, at least being widely available and not costing more than $1 per GB). There is a proprietary mount that was needed for the SSD in that small form factor computer. Dell not only sent me the mount and multiple sata cables free of charge, they sent me a windows usb stick free of charge and walked me through how to reinstall windows and all the drivers. And by the way, I had originally purchases the X51 1st gen from Dell's refurb store, but it came really scratched up. I called to complain about it and not only did Dell replace it for free but they also sent me a brand new, non-refurb X51 r2 right when that machine was released (it wasn't even out yet when i made my purchase). The whole experience was 10 out of 10 for sure.

    • with my XPS 15 it was crazy the support. The laptop did have to get the screen replaced 3 times under warranty but every time was really easy in person. Very different experience than what any other brand does.

  • I think the size angle doesn't really matter as much with the X14. It fits into my backpack just fine. And I was only ever going to get a 3060 model. The baked on 16gb of ram on the Blade 14 is a complete no go as it's not very future proof. One angle I think you should have considered is the amount of heat the better cooling on the Alienware removes from the system, and the result this has on temps on the keyboard and wrist rest, where you touch the system the most.

  • When you say, Alienware, you say "Dell". I had Lattitude E5400 back in 2008, had full body coverage, their service lead time and quality was so good those days only. Similar experience with Lenovo, their service is descent too. I own Acer Helios 300 3060 and i doubt i will get even a descent service when needed, my father didnt wanted me to buy Acer but suggested HP Omen due to service availability.

I never had problem with my old lenovo. I regret not buying Legion5Pro sometimes, spending some extra bucks can save some bucks later, like i have spend 40 usd in thermal paste and pads already, within 1 year warranty. I guess it is what it is, a difference between well tuned laptop (L5Pro) and just somehow assembled laptop (helios 300). The only good thing is that helios 300 is smaller and slimmer, easy to carry.
