How To Remove & Install Mercury Out Drive / bell housing ( Replace Bellows )
Removing and Installation MerCruiser ,
Customer had shift cable Bellow Crack so would take on water in the boat. so removal and install of new bellows and seals.
Order of process, Tool List, and Applicators list, All listed below ⬇️
Oder of operations
- remove prop
- push throttle all the way forward-
- unbolt 6 nuts from stern drive
- unpl
Tool List:
● 9/16" Spark plug socket OR Specialty Tool
● 1/2" Hex Socket OR Hinge Pin Tool
● 1/4" drive Rachet
● 3/8" dr Rachet
● 3/8" dr extension
● 1/4" dr extension
● 7mm socket deep and shallow
● Couple diff size - Flathead screwdrivers
● Phillip screwdriver 🪛
● Mallet
● Needle Nose Pliers
● Reg Pliers
● 5/8" Socket
● 13/16" Socket
● 7mm Socket Deep & Shallow
● Zip ties 50lb or whatever you'd like to use
● Bellow Tool helps abit
● Adjustable ( crescent ) wrenc
● Knife
Applicators:
● 2-4-C Marine Grease w/PTFE
● 270 Loctite
● Bellows adhesive # 92-86166Q 1
● "Perfect seal" Permatex Form a gasket

Thank you. Total hrs was probably about 10-11hrs realisticly maybe a little more. Some are easier than others, it definitely was a pain trying to seat that last Bellow.
