I’m a HUGE animal lover....our fur babies (kitties) are a part of our family. After saying that, even human family members have rules around the baby - wash your hands, don’t turn your back on him/her when they’re one the changing table, in the tub, etc. As a RN w. ED experience, I’ve seen too many babies with horrible cat scratches, dog bites, and the parents are both shocked & heartbroken “I don’t know what happened He/She (dog/cat/bird......yes bird) has never bitten, scratched anyone before....” It’s heartbreaking for the animal as well because they are reacting on instinct & don’t know why all of a sudden Animal Control is taking them away from their home. These pets are loving, kind, and no one would even begin to think they’d cause injury to a flea, let alone a vulnerable baby. Dog’s mouths, cat’s either, are NOT cleaner than a human’s mouth. Babies’ immune systems are still very immature. Dog/cat saliva contains Campylobacter- bacteria, like E.Coli, that can cause life-threatening diarrhea, abdominal pain & IF enters the blood stream can cause death. Streptococcus A - causes Strept Throat - can take up residence in the back of a dogs throat & yes, can transfer it to humans through....licking. Remember where your dog’s/cat’s whole face goes when licking/ cleaning itself - bacteria can be on the face, up the nose, etc on it. Cat scratches can cause ....yep....Cat Scratch Fever or Cat Scratch Disease. Just keep in mind that there are hundreds of zoonotic diseases - most are not harmful to humans. Most pet lovers will keep their pets vaccinated, dewormed & take the utmost care of their fur baby. But please, don’t let the precious fur baby around his brother/sister as a small newborn or allow it to just sit & lick your baby in the face. Birds have been known to accidentally peck babies in their eye, or scratch them with their beaks/feet. Be safe everyone and LOVE ALL OF OUR BABIES SAFELY - EVEN OUR FUR BABIES!!!!!

No. My friend had the sweetest dog. When it was sleeping their child cuddled it round the neck. Dogs reaction was to bite the child. It was startled as it was asleep. It wasn't a bite that broke the skin. The parents took their child to hospital to check all was ok, and the hospital informed the dog warden, who promptly put this poor dog down. Through no fault of its own. Owners should teach their children not to grab dogs.

Dogs can bite for many reasons. Fear is just one of them. They can also bite because the baby is lower ranked in his mind. They can also bite because the baby gets too close to his food. Dogs can also get very annoyed when a baby is crying and kill it while it's in a crib and you take a shower. Dogs are dogs.

My roommates pure bred German Shepherd is very protective of her people. My one buddy who drives dedicated, long haul over the road semi truck, brought his infant son over. We told mindy(the German Shepherd) to guard little Brian. She did and wouldn’t leave his side. She is very good with kids.
The puppy loves her baby and taking wonderful care to the little one.

The baby gripping the dogs tail is awesome, when my son was 1 month old we brought him for check up, the Dr was ahead of his time, he sat my son on the table and put his thumbs in my son's palms and rubbed them a little, then quickly raised his hands and my son hung on and he actually swung him back and forth , I was shocked at how a 1 month old baby had instinctive reactions and held on easily, just thought of that day 40 years ago. My grandma had a huge white poodle-doll when I was little. I used to ride it like a horse and I remember it was so huge! We got him back a few years after immigrating and I grew up since so now it looks tiny and it took me years to get over the fact that it’s not that I remembered it to be huge, but that I was just tiny back then. The Labrador with the baby brought on that memory.

Like I said before,I worked for 2 plastic surgeons and our #1 was children getting bit by a dog!! You never know when the dog is going to snap. They literally tear the scin!! Just be very careful and never leave the children alone with your pet!!

They have no minds….the dog in the thumbnail could swallow the baby whole after smothering it with gross bits of faeces and dog bugs! Too many cases of dog attacks happening and I think it is down to videos like this which glorify dogs doing this with innocents, when they should warn about the dangers instead and lead by example! Once your baby is dead, your lives will be never be joyful again..ever, and your baby was robbed of this lifetime. All risks taken for videos…should be banned and criminalised in my opinion.

I'm not saying that all animals or pitbulls are bad but there has to be supervision at all times and even then if something flipped in their brain or made them mad or they were hurting it would take one bite that child would be gone
