Alright, I did not see this one coming, but in the end, it all worked out just fine. It's always a great thing to get free bees from a swarm trap, but to have multiple heart palpitations while retrieving the bees is quite unexpected. I DID IT, I FINALLY DIIID ITT!! it's always like a spot the find (or spot the queen) but I seen her right off. It kinda shocked me when that whole blob of bees fell to the ground, and it was the coolest thing ever to watch the bee vac up close, I can't believe how amazing they are!

Had a wild swarm at least three times that size at my farm last year. My brother's father in law rushed over with big super. And they went in. I am happy to have them here.

Fascinating how they conga-string together and form a sort of fabric over the combs!
The word for that is "festooning" and it's how bees are able to build, and attach new comb in a hive. I really enjoyed that removal. My goodness those boys and girls were truly making it count. Sucking up with a vacuum way to go. I think I have only seen that once. Lovely, every creature happy. That's fine by me.🎉
I use a bee vac on almost all of my removals, it is the safest, fastest, and easiest way to remove bees. Plus, because the bee vac is specially designed not to harm bees due to it's low suction, it does no harm to the bees. You're having a positive effect on me. I used to freak out inside when a bee came anywhere near me. Even ran a couple of times. Today, a bee flew into the car when we were parked . I calmly watched as it buzzed on through and out the other window. Big step for me! I'm not at the point to be near a big ole pile of bees on the ground.😆

Aw I feel bad for the bees. They worked hard to make those 2 combs, they deserve to have them back.
I almost always give the bees the comb they build as they worked so hard for it, but in this case, I gave them 5 times the amount they had built so they could have a better start of things. Wow! That's a lot of great swarm footage! Thank you to Julio for the first part assist. Curious though... I find that my "Yankee" queens way up here in NE Minnesota will rarely cross a frame of honey and start laying on the other side. Was wondering if your experience is different. Of course, maybe it is so cold up here that the queens think they are trying to get across a glacier and turn back... :-) Thank you Jeff! God's Blessings! -Jeff and Diane

You should know how good it is, I pulled 8 of your traps off of it this year already, and there's no telling how many swarms you caught before I got rid of your traps. I knew I should not have shown you were it was located. See you soon brother. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr Ed seems to be "tidier" at working with swarms and rehoming the bees than a lot of other wranglers. 😊

I meant the way you handled that swarm and clearing the bees from the vac was a clean drop into the box. Others end up with bees everywhere.

It sounds bad when you say vacuum them up but it really is pretty gentle. I did love the close up showing the bees and how gentle it was. You havd twice the work but twice the results, though. Really enjoyed watching this.

That's what I was thinking. Two Queens in a hive like that...hmm.... Eventually, if ya play your cards right (So to speak), you can have TWICE the Honey that you wanted in the first place! Double the yum, and double the fun!

It was a swarm, and swarms are bees that are not as established hive. Often, swarms that happen later in the year have more than 1 queen in them as multiple queens hatch from swarm cells.
