Lee Strobel, a former atheist turned Christian who wrote the book The Case for Christ, shares how he went from skeptic to believer. This 16-minute explanation explores the truth he uncovered about the resurrection, the gospel accounts, and the controversies he had to overcome to support the evidence for Christ and make a case for the foundational belief in Christianity.

    • I am glad you saw this truth I am very glad. If you knew how much I desire that the house of Isra'el gets to know the truth of their saviour, that it was Yehoshua whom they had crucified with their own hands. If indeed they know this truth, and accept it, the blood of the saviour which indeed they claimed to be upon them, will really be upon them, but this time not unto judgement/condemnation, but unto salvation and redemption; which indeed Yehoshua came for. I imagined most of the time as the Apostle Paul wrote, that if the downfall of the Jews brought about the salvation of the Gentiles, how much more will their rising be? Indeed it will be even as potent as the resurrection of the dead. I long for the days of the rising and the recognition of the house of Isra'el unto their saviour and our saviour Yehoshua ha Mashiyach. Shalom. 🤍

    • I’m Jewish as well with modern orthodox leanings and I find it to be interesting that in Torah in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 24:16 it teaches that a man may not be put to death for the sin of another man so how can Mashiach be a human sacrifice sin offering dying for sinful humanity? Not only that but repeatedly in the servant songs in Yeshayahu (Isaiah) chapters 41 to 55 HaShem calls Israel his servant so how can Isaiah 53 be about Mashiach when Israel is the servant of HaShem and it’s about the suffering servant? In the Hebrew it even says in Isaiah 53 ‘’nega lamo’’ meaning ‘’a blow to us’’

  • The part I find very interesting was the suffering of the witnesses. Today we have people wondering why God would allow suffering in the world if He is so loving, and yet if these people didnt suffer for God we would not have this solid historic foundation for Jesus resurrection. God works through pain, and not all pain is bad. This is hard to understand for those who think only pleasure can be good. Pain can make us grow strong and in God’s hand it can be a blessing. It’s not all about us personally, we must think of how our trials can benefit others. Love God above all else and our neighbor as ourselves.

    @pepethunder@pepethunder4 ай бұрын
    • You say not all pain is bad. And that god works through pain. Nobody thank god for cancer otherwise we wouldnt have cancer research. Nobody says thank god for racism otherwise we wouldnt have had MLK. Nobody says thank god for hitler otherwise we wouldn’t know totalitarian governments dont work well. Nobody says thank god for all the hundreds of millions of people who have died because of war, mostly in the name of god ofc, otherwise we wouldn’t have peace. Nobody says thank god for illness, disease, and sickness otherwise we wouldn’t have doctors. Nobody says thank god for depression otherwise we wouldn’t have therapy. Nobody says thank god for rapists, murderers, and thieves otherwise we wouldn’t have prisons. Nobody says thank god for the killing of thousands of native Americans through manifest destiny otherwise we wouldn’t have 50 states in the US. Im not saying these things to bash you, Im sure you have good intentions. However if you were in Palestine right now and your kids died because of war due to human greed, you would have a very different opinion about god buddy. Your god allows so much suffering in this world for no reason, and its up to us, as good humans to clean up after the suffering that the so called “all loving and all powerful god” allows to happen in this world.

    • And there it is. The most obvious point of them all. We fear death and would love the idea that it is not the end. No I would never do such thing, infact, if i was at a childrens cancer ward i would tell them that they will go to heaven and be happy in paradise. Because i would rather lie and have them be happy in their last moments than be sad. But Im telling yall this because I would hope, presumably that yall are adults, that you can take a hit of reality better than a 6 year old child with cancer. So I have chosen my words not only carefully, but also towards an appropriate audience. And I say all of this with nothing but love in my heart for people, because we all deserve truth and we deserve to truly appreciate every living moment that we have.

    • Many unbelievers were once believers. I was one of them, although never a fervent evangelical. If you dig down through all of the hyperbole of Strobel here, there is not much that really stands up to proper investigation. The thing that never ceases to amaze me are the huge doctrinal and theological differences between various Christians, many extremely contradictory. It's sometimes difficult to define exactly what Christians actually believe. The one thing they all have in common is that they all think that they are right and the others are wrong. Interesting that Strobel states that there is no such thing as a mass hallucination. Why has he never heard of the Miracle of Fatima from 1917, and a number of other examples. Whatever, your opinion on what these groups of people actually saw, it certainly does not support Strobel's assertions. Interesting that the psychologist that he consulted about group hallucinations, first gives a supposedly professional opinion, and in the next breath is preaching about Paul's claim that 500 saw the risen Jesus. The odour of a rodent doth tickle mine nostrils, methinks.

If I were to ask you to demonstrate the authenticity of these verses in a real time real life situation, could you do it? The dread of not believing shakes me to my core, like something deep down is insisting that I'm mistaken. Even when it comes to discrediting the existence of Apostle Paul, it's something I find hard to reconcile. There's just an abundance of evidence supporting the fact that this guy lived and became a Christian. Numerous non-biblical sources vouch for him. If you can entertain doubts about Jesus, questioning Paul becomes nearly impossible. I mean, the guy is backed by a wealth of non-biblical information, and it's just too challenging to dismiss the overwhelming evidence. It might be hard to believe, but Jesus is real. If you discredit Him, you'd have to dismiss the entire history of His apostles and all non-biblical accounts related to each one of them, which is utterly impossible.

    @crystalclearwindowcleaning3458@crystalclearwindowcleaning34585 ай бұрын
    • : Absolutely not. ! One can - and the early Christians did - believe in the resurrection without believing that Jesus is God in the flesh. Indeed, the first Cristians believed, not that Jesus was God incarnate, but that he was the promised messiah, the Christ, the Son of God. (Mat 16:16). Jesus and his disciples worshipped he God of israel, the God of the Bible. Jesus himself tells us that he has a God. The resurrected Jesus has a God. (JOhn 20 :17). The glorified Jesus in heaven itself, still has a God. (Re 3 :12). Hundreds of times in the NT Jesus is differentiated from God. . He is resurrected from the dead by God. (Acts 2 :24, 32). He is made both Lord and Christ by God. (Acts 2 : 36). He is given or granted all autority by God. (John 5 :27) The Son did not always p;ossess life in imself but it was gramted to him (John 5 :26) The evidence is overwhelming : The claim of the gospels is : Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. This claim makes him one other than God.

This is one of the core tenets of Christianity ( I’m not sure if you were aware of that) Jesus’disciples asked Him to show them the Father. He declared “ Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father “ - John 14:9 on another occasion Jesus said “ I and the Father are ONE “-John 10:30 . Yes, Jesus was both Full God and

    • And Fully Man( continued from previous post) , because of this He alone has the authority to be our Savior and to forgive our sins. Now go to the Gospel of John. . Chapter one verse one “ In the Beginning was the WORD, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS God . But who WAS the Word? Look at verse 14 of chapter one. Jesus was the WORD. (14) The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us . Verse one clearly tells us that the Word was God. We’ve established that Jesus was the Word so we can therefore correctly say “ Jesus IS God “ Now look at Joh 10:30 again “ I and my Father are one “ (verse 31) Then the Jews took stones again to stone Him.(32) and Jesus answered them ; “ I have shown you many great works and miracles from the Father, for which of these do you stone me .(33) we are not stoning you for any of these replied the Jews, But for Blasphemy, because you, a mere man , claim to be God “ did you get that? Let me ask you a question. What was the official charge against Jesus? Why did they want to kill him ? It was Blasphemy- claiming to be God , that was not only a serious sin( one of the worst if not THE worst sin for a Jew) and a crime punishable by death.. so yes Jesus did claim to be God . There are a lot of other verses that say Jesus referred to himself as God but for the sake of time I will have to post them later because I have to go now . Take care and God bless you .

    • @@danielfortonforton223 : The Trinity is a post-apostolic teaching that did not take its final form for hundreds of years. Many standard reference works freely admit this. The gospels claim that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. This actually makes him one other than God. Jesus is differentiated from God hundreds of times in the NT. John 14 :9 shoukld be understood in the context of the NT. Jesus claimed to be the Son of God. and is desribed as 'the image of God (Col 1 :15; Heb 1 :3). However, being the image of God or a reflection of God does not make him God, rather a representation. He is certainly NOT the Father in Trinitarian understanding. Likewise, he is 'One' with the father in exactly the same way as the disciples are (John 17 :21-23)

But don't just take my word for it go do some research on the statistics of prayer yourself. If you pray to the half empty milk carton in your fridge it remarkably answers prayers at the same statistical rate as God. Try it, test it yourself. Sometimes the milk carton appears to have answered your prayer Sometimes it's unclear And sometimes it doesn't. Half empty milk cartons work in mysterious ways, but if you have faith that the carton always knows what's best even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it at the time, you'll be just fine. We may not always agree with the milk carton answer but it has its reasons and you just can't see its master plan with your tiny human limited brain. Keep the faith in that carton, it'll all make sense, it'll all be explained one day. (when you're dead and brain no longer functions 😂)

When the Roman soldiers were tasked with guarding the tomb, they knew that if they fell asleep, or failed in their assignment in any way, the penalty was death. • Yes, there are no eyewitness accounts, nor are there any contemparenous accounts of Jesus. Apologists are just being disingenuous or ignorant. The earliest Christian document known to us is Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians, from around 50AD. He makes no reference to the details of the resurrection (tomb etc). Paul makes that spurious "500 witnesses" claim found nowhere else, and he doesn't say who any of these people were, or where they allegedly saw Jesus. But apologists misunderstand scripture. They think it deals with historical facts. It doesn't, especially the gospels and Paul's letters. They are preaching tools for early Christians. They deal with meaning more than fact. In fact, apologists belittle these works by literalising them, and alleging they are factual; the authors would not have meant them to be. It's not how ancient writers worked.

You're entire belief system is based on hearsay and stories,feel free to prove me wrong,maybe evidence from people who were there instead of what,t they were told 30 years sfter he died would help.

    • What are you even talking about? o.0 Tacitus never made the claim that Jesus was the son of God. Tacitus was a sceptic. But what he wrote about does corroborate that Jesus was executed by the Romans in the first century during the rule of Tiberius by order of Pontius Pilate.

    • The shroud is enough..Then ask the question:how did a bunch of low flung fishermen and other riff raff who went into hiding when their leader a carpenter's son turned cult leader was executed in the most humiliating manner ,suddenly appear ine crowded city during a major festival shouting out that "He is risen !" and would pay down their lives willingly to hold on to that belief ,travel at great risk troubles,, imprisonment torture exile and violent deaths over an improbable thing? Do sensible people do that? This Jesus has been proclaimed and propagated all through the world these 21centuries by millions of such people. How long can a lie triumph like that if it's lie?

  • What sources, outside the bible, can I read to get a better understanding of the "many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised" and "the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour"?. Your help will be much appreciated regarding the supernatural events that took place during the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Maybe the Chinese or Native Americans wrote about this darkness.
