Tiny Baby Deer Asks People to Rescue Her | The Dodo Wild Hearts
A tiny baby deer walked right up to people, crying for help. When it became clear that she lost her mom, they brought her to Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary in Ontario. Watch her grow up and run back to the wild with her best friend!
Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary is a volunteer-based charity and is not government funded, they rely on donations from the public to help wildlife in need. You can support them here: thedo.do/woodlands.

This happened to me and my wife in Michigan. We were driving along a woodsy highway and we saw a dead deer at the roadside ahead, and we saw something dart across the grass into the trees. We stopped, and it was a freshly killed doe. And the fawn was hiding in the deep brush at the edge of the woods. We raised that fawn for a month before we could arrange for it to be adopted to a deer farm. That little fawn followed my wife everywhere in and around the house, even up and down stairs.
Nice story! Respect to you and your wife. 😊
Are you aware of what a deer farm is for? Unless you meant deer sanctuary, you sold your pet to be killed.

I am a sucker for animal rescue stories yours is right up there sir.
If I came across a fawn crying like that, there's no doubt I'd become an instant foster for it, too. When it wobbled back for help while crying, geez louise, I wanted to pick it up to rescue it.
The doe will leave the fawn while she forages,so leave it alone
I think most herbivores keep their young beside them........this explains the separation anxiety. lol
@@TheSoulCrisis" Healthy baby fawns are daily left alone by their mothers while the mothers forage for food. Unfortunately, many times a lone fawn is picked up by people who mistakenly think the fawn has been abandoned." A quick google search from multiple sources wildlife and reputable university sites all say that
@@BTA1991 Mother seals, too, leave their babies alone while they forage. Well-meaning people come along and "rescue" the "orphan" pups. How many fawns and seal pups were needlessly separated from their mothers...
I'd feel for the fawn. But unless it's in immediate danger I'd leave it alone. But I'd worry & fret over it until mom came back. I'd just keep watch over the baby until they're reunited. Or until it's clear she isn't coming back for whatever reason. Then, preferably under the instructions of a wildlife center,I'd get the fawn warm & calmed down while transferring the baby to them. A lot of animals should really be left alone that were rescued. I sort of rescued a mourning dove because my mom's coworkers found it & thought it's poor flying ability meant it needed to be rescued. So she immediately brought it to me. I googled how to give it some food & water. Then I turned to the wonderful invention Google & found out it was a fledgling the parents were still caring for. Even though it wasn't staying in the nest. I also found out it was illegal to keep. Not that I would have anyway. But rather than contacting a rehabber I checked to if it could fly enough to get away from predators. Then I had my mom return it to near where it was found & it's parents. Hopefully the little one survived to have a very long life.

I found a baby fawn on the railroad tracks one time! I wouldn't have bothered it BUT it wasn't on the side of the tracks, near the tracks.. it was in between the tracks!! So if a train came it would had been hit! So we put her on the 4wheeler and took her home. We blocked her in my dog house with blankets and hot water bottles. I made a few phone calls and found a lady 30 minutes from my house who would take her because she rehabilitated dear!! Well I checked back about 8 months later and they decided to keep her because she wouldn't leave. She comes in the house and sleeps on the porch sometimes! Typically a fawn that is not abandoned by it’s mother will not approach humans. They are usually left hidden in brush or bushes and will instinctively stay put until mom returns. When they wander like poor little Ivy did, especially into water, the chance of them being orphaned increases. It’s really great that the humans gave mom an opportunity to reclaim her baby. But because Ivy didn’t stay put means she was becoming desperate. Only sharing what I’ve learned after a lot of experience because too many fawns are found and mistakenly thought to be abandoned when they aren’t. Assessment of the situation is critical for mom and fawn. Don’t interfere unless you must! Always do everything you can to reunite when possible 😉♥️

Dustin 2112 Exactly right! One of the big killers of animals on farm lands are combine tractors. They suspected that this is what happened to her mother. Then raised domestically, that deer was more like a dog. They named her Buddy. And she loved being around people. But they always left their barn door open to give Buddy the chance to return to nature any time she wanted to. And eventually she did. But she still stops by a few times per week to say hi to the family who raised her, my aunt and uncle, even years later. They tied a blue ribbon around her neck to identify her as someone’s pet so that hopefully a hunter will never shoot her. The local hunters all know not to shoot the deer with the blue ribbon around her neck.
still here It’s not like everyone lives in Los Angeles! Some people actually do live out in the country.
Sooo sweet! I doubt there's anything cuter than a baby deer 🥺
la lumière - possibly a baby elephant...😉
@@ithinkthonkthunk5333 Or a baby hummingbird. I love elephants too though. It's funny, I don't understand why people use elephants or pigs to insult people. They're cute as anything! Nah, the people who like to bully others shouldn't use cute animals cuz that's a compliment. Usually those people who bully, especially online, don't even have a picture of themselves up (gee, wonder why)😉
The baby ducks and chickens i hand raised and gave a good life ♡ im even going to take my ducks out to the river to go swimming! Take them on adventures
Lion and tiger cubs, otter pups, bear cubs, and wolf pups.
@@OAwesomeO All very adorable! I guess all baby animals are equally as cute lol
The strong have a moral obligation to protect and care for the weak. God bless you people.
Many of you hear it before, but those who help animals deserve more than respect, I salute all of those heroes around the world👍
Poor lil angel was starving 😭 bless those who give aid to those that need it but cant ask for it
And now there's a baby bobcat starving because it couldn't eat the abandoned fawn.
Helping animals has noting to do with being blessed by God. Knowing and living for Jesus Christ does.
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv Imagine thinking people who devote their lives to helping and rehabilitating orphaned babies are somehow less deserving of blessings than people who have arbitrarily pledged allegiance to an invisible person
@@Visualeaf Yes, he is invisible to us now. Who is doing the blessing? are you a god? if there is no god then what does it matter to make up fake comments about blessing and then you go to the grave. Either way you make no sense. You lose.
@@Visualeaf I hope you do not celebrate Christ mas or Easter or Thanksgiving. You would be a very big hypocrite. Celebrate Buddha or Allah. they are dead in the ground. My Jesus is alive. 😀
Everyone please support your local Wildlife Sanctuary so these people can keep this up.
THANK YOU THANK YOU FAR BEING SO CARING FOR THESE FAWNS THAT DESERVE LOVE NOT MEANNESS LIKE HUNTERS DO TO ANIMALS THANK YOU
So precious 😍
2:26 "They slept very close together." *showing 2 fawn practicing social distancing.
yeh people sometimes get overly sentimental or optimistic, bit cringey
That's close for deer though. 💁
Yeah there's definitely a difference between deer and say cats and dogs. Of the latter two we are talking about pack predators. They have tools and mechanisms (claws, fangs, and team hunting instincts) that protect them from threats. Their numbers and natural weapons are enough to ensure their safety so they sleep in piles often (Cats far less often). Deer only really have sharp senses and speed to protect them. So if they are moving together for some reason they might sleep clustered but far enough apart to escape should a predator attack any one of them. Kind of a like soldiers taking tactical spacing. Do they depend on each other and want to protect each other? Yes. But do they want to eat the same IED or grenade as their buddy? No.
Well duh social distance
