Sometimes an update comes along that just makes you love a thing you already loved just a little bit more. Fire is by FAR the update I have most been looking forward to and here we are with the fire only run already!! But an important reminder is that this is still in the alpha testing branch so numbers, functionality and everything else is liable to change before full release.. including any bugs we may happen to find.

Huge fan here, thank you lathrix for all the year's of wonderful content. I've been watching you for almost 9 years now since I was in the 5th year of school to now into my second semester of college. I rember the first video of me watching was your "From The Depths[S2 part 21] Harpoon Science" after that I couldn't get enough of your content. From Depths is my favorite of your games you play but I also love youre Terrtech, Reassembly, and much of what you create. You're creativity put into you're videos helped foster my own creativity throughout my youth, I do wonder now tho what my 5 grade teacher was thinking when she was reading her students paper where an Atlas was battling 2 Tuberculosis and an a Ecoli. Recently was able to get a laptop so I can finally play FTD after watching you for so long. Playing is definitely different than watching thats for sure. Very vast customizable game, its a lot to take in but I'm up for the challenge. I've loved your long form adventure mode campaigns and I know those are most suitable for content creation. but I do miss some of you're other playthroughs like Neter/ashes of the empire. However whatever content you choose to make for your subscribers is bound to be loved by them. I'm truly forever thankful for everything you have done for your subscribers and myself. You have kept your content friendly and enjoyable for many ages of viewers for myself from 11 to 20 years old. This game looks so fun but it's so complicated when you actually play it
its mostly complex when it comes to getting all the systems to work together to make a good craft. But the systems on their own aren't that complex, you will just need to learn a bit at first.
I was gonna say "It's not that complicated!" Then I had flashbacks to being in middle school and early high school spending countless hours just trying to do the most basic stuff in this game and slowly learning. It's still rough honestly, but I have most of the basics down after about 10 years 👍
honestly once you understand how things work its more so tedious than complicated.
Like almost all vehicle builders, the "learning curve" is a sheer cliff.

I have been waiting to see this since these weapons were announced. LET IT BURN! I cant wait to see the anti-submarine flame weapons.
god, I made some experimental fire torpedoes for a flame battle cruiser and they were surprisingly effective, they had equal fuel and oxidizer so no damage was wasted and it just opened up holes straight through the armoured hull of whatever i launched the torps at. and it really messes up the weight distribution of things and lets my low caliber HE shells tear apart even metal.

As soon as I saw a new weapon I knew there was going to be an only flamethrower play through😂
I don't know if it would end up all that different from a rule-free run, but I think it'd be fun to see an Adventure run where you go out of your way to have as many different types of weapons active as possible. Just cram in small to medium examples of each weapon and fire the everything once in range. It was a nice surprise to see this video land while I was at work, so thank you very much for making an excruciatingly dull day more enjoyable with the judicious application of fire.
This is why you don't add fire physics to a Lathland Favorite game. He burns everything :D

I hated playing this game, but love watching you play it! If you want a suggestion for the next run, can we get a "space hulk" run where you build as little as possible, and just smush whatever you can pull off captured vehicles as complete sections on to your base vessel with minimum repairs. It would be interesting to see what kind of hulking monstrosity you end up with by the end :D
Except he can build weapons onto it. Weapons are typically destroyed before you are able to capture it
@@adaelion3772 He's captured some pretty much intact twin guard torso's before on the land campaign (I'd be fine with it being a land campaign rather than a sea one). That was what gave me the idea of that being a sight to see. I mean imagine a floating misshapen blob of 5-6 lashed together twin guard torso's lumbering about 😂
been looking forward to the next playthrough! next idea should be a varriation on the 'drone only' run, you create drones, that fire out and either release a payload, or IS the payload, you're a carrier for BIG weapons
I’ve come to realize that this game is something for me to watch and not play. I’m just too impatient and scatterbrained to put it all together in a way that works and looks nice. Maybe I should work on that. In the mean time, I’ll be watching your videos. Can’t wait for more of this fire. Also, don’t feel like you’re cheating by going and inspecting the damage you’ve dealt to the enemy. That’s part of the game, and part of the satisfaction. People really wanna see those close ups of just how brutal your weapons are. Basically, always take a second to stop and enjoy the carnage.

The pyromaniac in me is very happy watching this, you gave fire a good name here I’ve said it before but a “dense” challenge run could be fun. Very high cost with very low volume. Definitely a challenge given your preference for lots of armor

I've made this suggestion a few times now, but here's hoping this is the time you notice it 😂 I'd love to see a run where you use exactly one of each type of weapon. Maybe start with one of your choice, then add a new one with each portal you enter so that you can't focus on making one or two uber-powerful and neglecting the others. In the later levels you'd have to use your best judgement to maintain balance between all the weapons, but I think it could still be really interesting. Another idea that I came up with while watching one of your recent videos: A one shot wonder-craft. You often limit how many resources you gather in order to not become overpowered early on. I'd like to see a run where you lean into the OP potential and design a craft that has only alpha strike weapons, no rapid fire, no long barrages, the challenge is to kill every vessel you encounter with just one volley. You could pick whatever weapons you want to use and no limit on how many, but whatever you come up with has to fire slow enough that you can't fire more than one broadside per minute. That also means no point defense, or rather, only a very ineffective point defense because it will only fire one shot. Obviously the game can be a bit unpredictable, so I'd rule that if you cut an enemy in half and/or knock out its combat ability with one hit, but it is technically still online, you can count that as a kill for the purposes of the challenge.

Something that could be cool is a run that heavily used shields since you usually don’t use them much. Kinda force yourself to use and learn how to use them effectively
Man Fire builds really bring out the builder in you this is one of the best looking crafts you have ever made. Simple but just so nice and the little lines and designs in the armor is just so nice. I have been watching since mid way through season 2 of your ftd and just saying you are my favorite ftd youtuber and always manage to just make the designs I want too see a lot. Keep it up lath thanks for making all your series as well cause I can just sit back and have a great time. Every time I see you upload a series I really love it just makes my day each time.

Id like the next adventure run to be: use all weapon type once but! They need to be goofy/weird/funny not just your standard aps,cram,missle,etc use them in a unusual way. I think we and lath will have so much fun with this idea! Carnage, laughter and weirdness😂❤
Haven't watched the full video yet, but i would be very intrigued by the concept of an aircraft that just dumps tons of fire and fire bombs into enemies below. Like a fire waterfall. Like the opposite of those aircraft that put out first fires.
I think a “one weapon” play through would be cool. To design your entire boat around making one weapon as effective as possible seems like a fun challenge.
I really love the design you went for at the 14 minute mark.

Honestly personally I don’t care about following the challenge as closely as possible as much as doing whatever it takes to make the point of the challenge more effective. So like with a railgun for example I think it’s better to build it however it will make the fire aspect better even if it isn’t the option with the lowest kinetic damage
Yeah, like api rounds would make the point of digging into crafts and starting internal fires way easier. I'd love to see him work with a railgun that really digs deep so that we don't even see the fire from the outside, just blocks dying and smoke >:)

That was super fun! Do you like suggestions for challenges? How about a run where you *have* to go fast? I noticed you tend to go big slow battleship towards the end of each run, what if you set yourself a minimum speed? Maybe also say you can't fly but you can "jump"? Obviously interpret those challenges in whatever way seems most fun to you. Love all your stuff, thanks a lot for the videos!

I could see some shenanigans with the incendiary weapons similar to a combo I've seen in another game, Forts - using an incendiary weapon to weaken the enemy's armor at a specific spot, and then hitting that same spot with a powerful alpha strike weapon that can already easily punch through the armor *while it's weakened by the fire damage*

To answer your shield question: the UI for shield projectors says that they have a minimum and maximum deflection chance, depending on the angle the shell comes in. Steeper angles make for a higher deflection chance, with a max chance of 40% for a strength 10 shield. Fewer stronger shields are better than multiple weaker/smaller shields, as the game only calculates for the shield with the best deflection chance for shells and damage reduction for lasers and plasma. Bonus fact: I hate shields and I'm simultaneously glad they're not compulsory and annoyed they're not more useful. Devs can't please everybody. XD Great video! Excellent showcasing of fire's strengths and weaknesses. Looks like it's definitely not replacing APHE railguns anytime as an end-game weapon. 👍
