Paddle Battle With Italo Ferreira (First Wave) - Uluwatu

2022 ж. 16 Мам.
174 230 Рет қаралды

It's standard procedure for multiple surfers to paddle for the same wave at crowded Uluwatu - as was the case on the first wave in this video.
But when one of those surfers is 2019 World Champ, Italo Ferreira, you'd better bring your 'A-Game', because he doesn't miss too many waves that he paddles for.
Italo was in fine form during this session at the Racetrack. Surfing with a lot of speed and sticking almost everything he went for.

  • ( Speed € Power £ Flow ¥ Grace ₩ ) Italo Ferreira. I can only imagine what it's like to see him barrelling down the line at you in the water. What a session that'd be. It'd be so easy to score his surfing from any angle, you just drop nothing less than a 9 everytime

      @Simon.the.Likeable@Simon.the.Likeable2 жыл бұрын
    • I thought someone was going to say flow is grace and that'd be a fair statement, but after seeing Italo in his element I thought grace should added to the score card criteria when calculating scores on his surfing because his flow goes beyond flow into somthing else intirly, then he takes it to the air.

      @sunchaser9726@sunchaser97262 жыл бұрын
    • @@sunchaser9726 Isn't his element around Praia da Pipa? Brazilians don't know about flow. They surf at disjointed right angles and pop disconnected airs. Unfortunately, they missed out on the whole soul surfing era. Flow and grace never became part of their thing. It was only contest results for them. That's why you'll never see a Brazilian Machado, Rastovich or Frankreiter.

      @Simon.the.Likeable@Simon.the.Likeable2 жыл бұрын
    • But it takes a cooking wave like J Bay for the Brazilian 🇧🇷 surfers to truly display their soul expression abilities. Do you think you can roll up there with Rasta, and Rob Mach on twinies against Ferreria,Toledo, Madina in peeling 8 to 10 J Bay Glass. A very tantalising match up I can almost see it .I m feeling sleepy 🥱 once upon a time, on a wave far far and away 😴 💤

That is only my opinion of course and I am not an expert,, but just looking at this in very slow motion and pausing it, I noticed that knowing exactly what the wave is doing and when to start paddling seems to also be a difference in addition to paddling power.
