  • The 532 is becoming more fashionable again Brentford, Juve, Atletico, Brighton would change from a 442 to 532 dropping the winger into the defensive line of 4 into a 5 as it allows teams to defend the ball area with more numbers and defend width simultaneously. The downside of this setup is that the team in possession can overload the ball side to shift the midfield 3 all the way across to the ball side. Opening the half space on the opposite side.

  • But still the pundits say Maguire and others are playing well when they are scared of playing at the halfway line and retreat to their box as soon as the ball is turned over. As said here you need to be in the opposition half of the field to compress the play and stop them getting out. Maguire, Lindelof and Evans can not do this and if they are playing well it just means crosses are coming into your box and you are under a bit of pressure.
