Very cool! I always wanted to hang glide. I'm now 58 and my landing gear could never take the beating ha ha. I'm a 15 year flex wing trike pilot and just love these amazing wings!

Great memories!! I and a friend came there and took lessons back in, like, 1983-ish. Had a blast! Stayed at a house in Nags Head with a man who had lived there when the Wrights flew. Bought a Wills Wing Alpha and thoroughly enjoyed it for a few years.

at 4:30 - I´ve never seen at hat used as drag-chute before. Nice video, and what a great place for basic training.

Looks like a blast. I trained in a Seagull, or Seahawk, or something like that about a hundred years ago. Still a lot of fun.
Ah memories! I was the road rep for WillsWing in '81. sat there for ten days in a hurricane waiting for the wind to ease up so we could fly. it finely dropped down to 45 mph and I got one flight in before I had leave.

Oh l love, l love these gliders.. am from kenya, africa, and l have been dreaming of 1 day flying these gliders... l know they are rare to find in kenya... but is possible to build my own glider, or its a must l buy the factory build ones.? How much does a 2nd hand glider cost? Thanks
Raw Videos you could totally build one on your own! Lots of fabric and cord, if you make one you must post videos!
it's impossible to a new pilot to build a modern glider. 45 years ago, many of us learned to fly on simple Rogallo type wings that we built ourselves but it was very dangerous with many fatalities. you can find dealers at www.willswing.com/hang-glider-dealers/. Used glider cost as little as a few hundred dollars, new gliders start at about 4000.
I want to learn!! This looks like so much fun. Even if i never left this hill here in the video. I would be out doing this everyday it was nice.. who do i call to learn how??

Must be an amazing feeling flying so low and fighting to not get grounded.lol
When you are learning , you get grounded a lot . These folks are far better than the average Student Flyer. Been there , done that did a lot of face plants.

hi, what fabric do you use for hang gliding
Often several different types on a single wing. The gliders with more billow are typically 3.8 to 5 oz Dacron. Higher performance wings may use laminate sailcloth for the lower stretch required. But although the construction looks simple, designing flex wings like this is not an easy task. For those wanting to fly, it will be a lot simpler and cheaper to buy a used glider than to design your own. For those wanting to build, rigid wings, where the wings don't fold up, are easier to design, build and fly safely. Search for GOAT and airchair for relatively easy to build and fly gliders.
