Shark Attack - breathtaking highlight of my recent Red Sea diving safari.

Shark shows burning interest in my buddy's yellow fins.
Although no deadly attacks on divers have been documented so far, the oceanic whitetip shark counts to the four most dangerous shark species.
Shark Attack -Atemberaubendes Hai -Light meiner jüngsten Rotmeeer Tauchsafari.

    • @@serenitysmith352 It is now clear for professionals that hit the shark on it's nose is not safe, If you hit it the shark may assume you are a prey defending yourself. Best option is to stay upright position, don't put the fins in front, always watching the shark eyes, and if the shark is approaching to close just push it away with your hand.

    • @@serenitysmith352 Thanks for your comment. Indeed, in many videos you will see divers hitting the shark on the snout, there they have the ampullae of Lorenzini, which is their sensory organ. But the sharks use that instrument to check what is in front of them, and if that being defends itself, it is very likely that the shark thinks it is a prey. Here I show you a video that I recorded myself, it is a tiger shark, one male, he comes closer to me to look and brings his nose closer to me to use his detectors, ampullae of Lorenzini, I just stood up, and I did not stop looking at him, he approached, looked and he left. It is VERY important to always look at them to their eyes. Enjoy: kzhead.info/sun/hNiPj895ZJhml40/bejne.html

    • @@serenitysmith352 Thanks to you again for your comment. Yes, tiger sharks are famous for their bite power, their teeth are the most special of all, they can split turtles into two pieces. But the truth is that their behavior is similar to other sharks, as I told you is it very important that they can see you, it is very dangerous to dive/swim with sharks in dirty water (foam from the waves, or at night, or in rivers), it is not good idea to carry shiny things because they can look like shiny fish, and don't swim away because they can see you as a prey. I know this is much easier said than done, and you are right, if the shark had changed his mind it would have been a difficult situation for me, otherwise shark are under their instinct, they think first in his security, they do not realise how powerful they are, and, most important, they don't know you and they scared of you.

    • . We can do without the name calling...it definitely is curious about something. Being in the open ocean, I would think it probably IS hungry, and like any predator, is doing a "risk assessment" of the potential food source. Not sure if the shark is blind in one eye or that's the protective sheathing their eyes seem to have when they bite/probe.

    • @@The_Endless_Summer You're stupid guy, it is obvious you don't know anything about sharks, and of course about Carcharhinus Longimanus. That shark was curious about what was floating in the water, the diver's behavior was incorrect, first of all he shouldn't stay on the surface, then he shouldn't put his fins in front, he must to stay upright, and if the shark approaches too much it is enough to push it away with your hand. If you hit it the shark may assume it is a prey defending itself.

This one approached maybe because of the fluorescent stripes (never to wear!) and could have made him think of fish who got that design. When approaching, he was calm and would not have attacked the diver. The longimanus is peaceful and curious . He just came to see what it was and re-cognize it. • These oceanic white tipped beasts that live in the deep pelagic zone, live in what is in effect a "food desert",so they're in a permanent state of semi starvation. Anything that moves (or floats) could be edible, so they will have an exploratory bite of it. This is what makes them so dangerously aggressive. The same principles apply to the equally dangerous polar bear. At least if you meet a great white, its liable to have chomped on something pretty lately, so the chances are they'd leave you be, but if you meet these devils with no escape or defence, your numbers up.

I still remember Jacques Cousteau who told about his son filming sharks in a cage (they were feeding on the carcass of a spermwhale) and suddenly all disappeared..then came a huge specimen of oceanic white tip and tried to break the cable of the cage biting it. Supposedly more aggressive toward humans than any other shark species. They don’t look as deadly as a Great White but they terrify me. I heard a man who was retired from the Navy, tell a story of his diving partner being attacked by these sharks. They were doing some kind of work and had dove back down to their dive site when two Oceanic Whitetips showed up. He watched his friend being shredded to pieces by them as he held onto him tightly! They drug both men deep into the ocean. His friend died. It was a harrowing story. The man who survived is a hero in my eyes. He never left his friend even with the sharks ripping at them and his oxygen tank critically low. He fought like hell. Edit: And I would never swim with these sharks.

You state yourself in one of the comments "he was just curious and wanted to play". The alleged aggressiveness of White Tips is vastly exaggerated. Every day dozens of divers visit Elphinstone Reef in the Red Sea to encounter them and there are hardly ever any incidents, not to speak of actual attacks. Pay them respect and learn how to behave in their presence and you'll have one of the great experiences in a diver's career.

    • You are right, the video's title is a joke. I apologize that people who could not follow my German undertitle did not realize this. Of course he was just curious and wanted to play. You just have to take an upright position, continuously face the shark, keep calm, and do not move your fins. Especially if you have yellow ones! And make sure you have a film in your camera!°

      @imranh5395@imranh53952 жыл бұрын
    • @@imranh5395 Probably, you're the blind one. Both eyes of the shark are intact. You can see the pupil in both eyes. And you see a few times how the shark protects its eye. Some shark species have what is called a nictitating membrane. This fine membrane can be slid over the eye. Other shark species can roll their eye inwards to protect it... like the great white shark. The caudal fin is also intact. Nothing is missing as far as I can see. The shark seems to have had an healed injury on the dorsal fin, like the scars, probably a remnant of a mating. The shark is a lady, because the male sex organs, the claspers, are missing. And during mating, sharks are rough, the males bite into the fins of the females in order to fertilise them with their claspers. You really don't seem to know anything about sharks.

    • I wouldn’t include hundreds of people stranded in the middle of the ocean as more often or multiple ‘attacks on humans.’ More like, anything out there would be seen as food to any meat eating creature. &once there’s blood from one, it’s not over until it’s over. Bull sharks however, will swim right up beside you in 2 feet of water, eat &kill you talking to your friend in a freshwater stream. That’s an attack. &that’s scary.
