It's likely due to digital branding and response psychology stuff. I think the difference is "oh, Ryan Reynolds!" which is a specific reason some of us willingly click an ad, compared to "hey, what's this thing?" which is universal curiosity no matter if someone likes or dislikes Ryan, without any expectations going into the ad. Nice scenery, etc. appeals to all audiences and all demographics. That's my take on why the non-Ryan ad performed so well compared to the one that has him. No niche audience. Expectations and connotations that surround a word or image or person can set-up what someone bases their choice on. And in the case of a person or organization appearing, it looks much like an endorsement by said person type of thing or "this person does this thing" sort of thing, rather than just a promo of the thing itself. Same effect as people buying all things by an author just because it's that author, rather than any specific book title or storyline, or more home to this, seeing all Ryan Reynolds films because he is in them, rather than because they look like a good movie with or without him or because they are great (whether they are or not isn't relevant to probabilities and the promo psychology, as we are only talking about pre-viewing and attention-grabbing here).
