One time when me and my friends were playing online with others. Me and my friends were talking in a call while we talked with the others in the chat. I was playing as Green and suddenly Yellow just said “It’s green” and they have NO explanation. I tried to convince my friends that it wasn’t me, but they were like ” Nah, Let’s just vote her” And it wasn’t even yellow!

One game I was crewmate in Skeld. I did download in the cafeteria, then went into weapons to do asteroids (visual tasks were on btw) but there was a dead body. Obviously, I reported it and then I got voted out for 'reporting a body too quickly'. God, I hate when you join a bad or toxic lobby.

It happens in premades too. I was in a full party of 10 once. Lights went out and four of us grouped up to move towards it. One died, I reported it immediately and clearly said that one of the imposters is 100% one of the remaining three of us. Myself and the other one of those three who was crew both got killed the next phase and imposters won. Goldfish-like memory on everyone else: he was never suspected again for the rest of the game.

Public lobbies rarely have players with IQ above 6. Dont waste your time playing with them
A tip: there common tasks in among us that either every crewmate or no crewmate has. If you see somebody doing a common task when it's not on your list (like admin swipe for The Skeld) they're probably the imposter. So imposters, if you have a common task while others don't, don't do it and vice versa

If you want to know if a word is spelled with "or" or "er" at the end, find out if it's a suffix or not. since "impost" isn't a word an "imposter" isn't described as "someone who imposts" like run -> runner receive -> receptor MOST of the time. I don't have the entire dictionary memorized and there are exceptions to every rule in English.

I think it depends on people's experience. I once joined a room where people would say they have visual tasks and most of us would come to watch them. We take note who is innocent and easily find who the impostor is. Don't give up hope, my dude. Since Among Us got popular, you have to expect newbies. Every game can be good or bad. Remember that if you are a host, you can kick anyone you want.

Another decent idea is while you are an impostor, keep track of who used their emergency buttons and prioritize killing those who still have some left while leaving those who used them up alive as they will need to find a body to do anything. Plus if they are the only people in the late game, you can guarantee victory sooner.

It's true that you're not guaranteed to be safe, particularly when only one other person has seen you do it. Still, it's best to try and get several people to see you do a visual task, which could be a challenge in PUGs.

The part where you said "if you see someone at a task and the taskbar doesnt go up, theyre a faker" isnt actually 100% correct. A lot of the tasks like the cafeteria garbage ones have multiple parts to them, and the taskbar wont go up until all of them are completed.

Best kill I have ever seen: I was in my very first round and playing with some friends at lunch. I was having trouble with card swip and one of my friends came in to "show me how to do it" he killed me on the spot and left. My other friend came in to show me and did it without reporting. Apparently, my body was positioned in just the right way so no one could see me. And the next meeting he just said, "wait, you're dead?" It was hilarious!

The “progress bar didn’t go up” thing can sometimes make innocents look sus because multi-part tasks (wires) don’t make the bar go up until the last part is done
Also when mat was explaining the fake tasks part with the trash as an example which is also a multi task makes it a bad example

Hopefully this rises in the comments because most players don't actually know this and cause the game to go poorly for getting their suspicions wrong. A better way to explain this is to know what multi part tasks have a definite ending and follow that player through to the end of it. You will then know if they are to be trusted.

also heres another tip for impostors if you are an impostor and you see a person accuse an innocent player then kill the accuser and the blame will go to the accused player

My rule for Among Us is to not vote without any evidence. If there was no one nearby when you found the body, its not exactly a good idea to vote,because you have no good evidence. Also, always pay attention to the tasks you have because imposters dont know what tasks the crewmates have. Always travel in a group of 3 or more, because it not really likely that both your partners are imposters, because its inefficient for 2 imposters to travel together. Dont always vote out a person who defended the imposter, because its likely they were unknowing. Make sure someone knows where you are so that you have a good alibi, this ties in with staying in groups. Make sure that you give a detailed story of what your doing so that its less likely tor people to think that you are the imposter. If you want to kill someone in a 1 entrance/exit, make sure that there is no one around so that no one will be able to say you were in the room when you killed them. I hoped this helped, and I cant really fit any more advice into this comment.

The problem is that when playing with randoms everyone is impatient and easily convinced. If someone declares that it must be you then you’re getting kicked out regardless of evidence and they will do it before you have a chance to type your defence.

hey matpat when you are imposter, ALWAYS THROW YOU PARTNER OUT! let me explain. see sometimes you get in....those lobbies where they vote at random. so when you are in among us (after you kill someone) say the other imposter, because if a crewmate says "I saw red go into med bay with orange" and orange was dead, say you "saw it on cams" that way your partner can't blame you. as a movie says "you got to look out for number one"
Ok, this helped me out so much. I killed every clear player in a game and made everyone sus each other. My other imposter killed someone infront of somebody else and he got voted first meeting. Because of your guide of was able to win the game. Just one more tactic I would like to add is that you should make a diversion. When I kill in admin I like to sabotage reactor. When I kill in reactor I sabotage o2. Also when sabotage is on cool down I like to lock all the doors so I can wait till sabotage is refreshed.

There's also what I call the "Over-Eager Voting Tactic." If someone votes early, you can try to call them out on it. Sometimes being the first to vote doesn't mean you're good either.

Matpat specifically mentions when they are voting the imposter out. Not the regural vote. If you are an imposter you will never vote the other imposter first. That's why the first person to vote for imposter will be considered safe and the last will be sus
1 thing I do whenever I am in a game: Make a person look sus slowly, and dont pinpoint them out immediately unless you're a crewmate. This makes others slowly start to trust you more than the so-called "sus" crewmate. Dont kill them so they look more sus than anyone else.

I got voted out earlier today because one person was in the same match as two separate players. And it has to be one of his that I killed first.
When I'm playing with one of my siblings, we play in differnt rooms so this dosent happen. And if we accidentally play in the same room, we won't tell each other our roles, will turn our volume off so we can't hear each other killing or doing a task, and we won't tell each other if we get killed :> Also, It's even worse when some one says 'guys, it's green, they killed my friend, were on discord' or when they call green lime or cyan/teal blue pwp

This is just something I think but it's best not to kill someone who sussed you, it'll only make you look more sus. I let at least one round go by and then try to kill them. I mean, admit it, if you see purple call blue sus, then purple is killed, blue is a prime suspect. But this is also a good way to frame someone. Like if orange calls Yellow sus, maybe kill orange and then remind the crew that Yellow was sussed by orange, who is now dead. *Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.*

okay i have no idea what you're talking about but both tasks he showed there, download and the first part of trash, don't fill up the bar regardless
Exactly. Wires, download, trash, and divert all of multiple steps therefore not filling up the task bar until all the steps are done. Yet people want to act like that’s not the case at all. (That’s probably not all the multi step tasks but I can’t fully remember) Edit: I forgot about inspect specimen in medbay and the other tasks that have you wait a certain amount of time then come back.

As he said in the previous video, at different skill levels differnt tactics can work. Noob tactics can beat those at higher levels as they know them so well that they think no one would actually use them. The opposite is unfortunately also true. People can be too dumb for tactics to work.

Tip on lava map: ask everyone which slot their key was in. Their key slot is the same as the slot they’re in the game. Top left play has top right key, top left player has top left key etc. Imps who don’t know about this will either stay quiet or get it wrong.
About the task bar thing: long tasks (which require 2 or 3 parts like the first and second wire) don't fill up the bar, but filling them all up does. So try to ask them "how many wire tasks do you have left" before immediately voting them off. I've lost like this once and even if you feel extremely vindicated at the end it's not worth it.

Doing any visual task isnt confirming your innocence. The person that may have seen your visual task may still believe that you are still very sus.

The thing about me when I play among us is that naturally I’m not a very devious person, yet I still win as impostor more than 50% of the time, but if I find a way to get past my weakness I could become a much better player. It’s like the saying you’re only using a bit of your brain power.

I've played with many randoms before and when you're TOO smart, you're sus. Even when you've been "supposedly" cleared...you're sus. Worse is that if you're a crewmate and you've used deduction and logic to single out the impostor, and try to explain all of this to other players, you're TOO SMART and you'll get kicked. Unless of course...you have that one dude who tries to add his own evidence that backs you up, but, when does that happen? I've also played the role of impostor and kindness gets you places. Someone used that move on me several times during the many games I've played and all I had to do was say something like, "I mean that's actually pretty smart but-" and then insert an alibi. Most of the time this got the dude off my back. I did have another person see me kill and four emergency meetings later, I was still getting away with it despite his accusations (also the risk of randoms lol). I killed in electric but when he called the meeting I was in O2 or nav (forgot which one), and when others asked him where the body was, he ignored the question and accused me, to which I said I was in O2. He freaking 2,000 IQ'd EVERYONE and said, "What were you doing in the same room as the body?" I was voted off because all I could say in my defense (he had already been cleared so I couldn't deflect it onto him) was that I didn't see a body in the room. But hey...I had a good run.

As for who to kill, something my friend did once is kill someone who suspected me(Who was not the killer) to make it SEEM like I was the killer taking them out to stop any sources of suspicion. You said it yourself, don't kill the suspicous ones. kill the ones who declare suspicion on someone.

For the meter, there is one *critical* detail: Partial tasks *do not* increment the meter, only a fully completed task. For example, the first two wire panels performed by a crewmate don't increment the meter, but the third one will.

Something I like to do when I fake tasks, is that I sabotage Comms immediately beforehand. Then nobody can be sure whether I actually did the task or not because the taskbar won't move up at all.

Toast is actually really good detective, even if he isn't genius imposter (his strategy usually rely on using his reputation to deflect suspicion). Plus it all depend with who you play, as many tactic simply don't work with really experienced players as his opponents.

Yes!! It's because of this that I always aks them which task they think the person faked. Cause half the time it ends up being downloading data. Then two innocent people get kicked out cause everyone thinks the first person was lying.

One tactic I used as impostor was to camp at Comms while I sabotaged, and made it look like I was doing a download. When a crew mate came by I killed and ran before anyone else came along, and impostors won. Next round, I was crewmate, and the person I killed tried that exact same tactic! My exact words when I reported them for it in a meeting and they tried to bluff it: “I did that to you last round, and I ain’t falling for my own horsesh*t!!!”

rule of thumb, don't be first, but don't be last
Voting *too* quickly is a thing too; like if you vote right when the voting had begun without discussing with anyone else, you can see why that's a little sus
I wait for the mass of votes to scome in right after discussing. Try to fit in with the group as much as possible.
It applies besides for the first vote.
Matpat did specify that voting early for the impostor means you're more likely to be innocent, because impostors are less likely to vote out their partners unless it's clear that everyone else is onto them. If you are the first to vote out somebody that isn't the impostor, than you are just as likely to be the impostor as anybody else.
