MinerCraft110 Gaming The gameplay itself was enjoyable and tense, but it really had nothing beyond that. For people like me who are not concerned with rising in the competitive ranks, it really doesn't have that much to offer. tl, dr; not my cup of tea
Been bugging the shit out of me, but the team is just called "Rainbow". The term "Rainbow Six" is referring to the commanding officer (John Clark, I believe). The commanding officer of a unit is often called the "six". In the first few games, the player sort of takes that roll independently of Clark, as you are responsible for hand picking the team and their gear, as well as planning each mission. During the mission you have direct command over the movement and actions of the team(s) you deployed.
Finally else who reqd the books. I'm not hating on theeinute guys but anytime someone tries to act all smart and bring up siege saying "yeah I wish I was a member of Rainbow Six, they have *this* and *that* and their tactics are cool. etc.", i get, as everyone on the internet says, " triggered". It annoys me a lot and I want to explain to them how wrong they are thinking they know everything just from one game

I loved that part of the book. For those who don't know, the team destroyed their facilities, took their clothes, and left them in the middle of the Amazon. I suggest you read it!

+Dalton Uber It kinda did as in the intro video when starting the game, six says that the team has been reactivated to fight a growing terrorist group named "The White Masks". That's the story for the game mode 'Terrorist Hunt' at least, not sure about the PvP though.
I don't think you should take the multiplayer part as canonical in some games. In most cases, only the single player mode adds some story while the multiplayer just a situation so the game may begin. Look at TF2 or Overwatch, for example. They have a story but the game itself it's just about a team fighting their twins on the other team.
From reading the books, Siege's multiplayer is a simulation done using some 2030-ish tech in their heads, explaining the CTU-VS-CTU gameplay, and Terrorrist Hunt is "Real Life"
Vtiger FTW i had personally figured that the multiplayer was just the normal training that team rainbow does and that as you said the terrorist hunt was real life
Siege has amazing realistic multiplayer mechanics but they failed in not making a champaign mode where you actually get in depth with the characters and build off the lore
This...actually made more story sense than all the other games featured in the 3 minute series...
How about an update video that can last like 10 seconds: in 2015 rainbow six is reactivated to against some white mask guys who were responsible for the terrorist attack at the barlett university using biochemical weapon
... and killed them all, defused the biochemical bombs, decontaminated the area, and now going to hunt that organization down

The team is just called "Rainbow". The "Six" man (commander) is John Clark, played by Willem Dafoe in the film "Clear and Present Danger". The book "Rainbow Six" is about the formation of the team and about John Clark specifically. The first game is loosely based on the events of that book.
and then the story was dropped to a single cutscene explaining that a new terrorist group has been reported, and the encounters are just multiplayer battles. and you thought Call of Duty's story was getting worse every year, here they outright dropped it.

OMG @ 0:35 : the second I realized that the music playing in the background was the original R6 game's theme, the memories :-) Back when R6 was for adults who wanted to combine planning and fast-paced action, before it was watered down for the masses.

In 2015, a group of militaristic terrorist organization called the White Masks emerged with an unknown background and goals. This forces Six to reactivate Rainbow and encountering the group, with the first assignment to handle a chemical-weapon attack in a university. As the threat being handled, the team trains intensively with a virtual reality program which pits the attack-oriented Rainbow team against defense-oriented Rainbow team to further prepare them of all incoming situation involving the White Masks.
Is that lore released by Ubisoft or what you gathered from the very limited story?

As a long-time fan of the series, I'm disgusted by the two grave errors in this video. 1) The team is called Rainbow, or Team Rainbow. Rainbow Six is the codename of John Clark, the head of Rainbow, which brings me to my second point.. 2) John BRIGHTLING is NOT the head of Rainbow. He and his associates are killed at biodome in the rainforest in the game. (In the book, Brightling and his associates are left to die in the rainforest.) Whoever wrote the script needs to be shot by.. well.. Rainbow. Yes it's hard to compress the lore in 3min (you left out Rogue Spear and Raven Shield stories) but please do not cut corners and insult fans of the series with this cheap summary.

Oh so Brightling wasn’t the head. I read the book and I was about to say I don’t remember reading that. I thought Clark was the head. And it’s unclear if the members died in the forest or not. It’s likely, but not for sure. I red the book years ago, and I feel like I remember that Chavez said that there was a village or something only tens of miles away, so maybe that happened.

the "story" of this series died after athena sword. it just stopped making sense, and the entire gameplay focus of the game shifted to action FPS, rather than a slower, thoughtful tactics game like the SWAT series

Well siege is a revival of rainbow six so since rainbow got reactivated, there really no big story going on as of now. Rn rainbow consists of the worlds finest working against a single terrorism group. That's practically it for story. I don't mind it. It's cool. We don't need a big story for now. This is all manifested into terrorist hunt.
