  • Every time I watch a documentary including wild lions, I just think about how well and healthy Kevin’s lions look-particularly the males. I completely understand that life in captivity is nothing to glorify-as this pandemic should’ve taught us-but despite the unfortunate circumstances having led these lovely creatures to captivity, Kevin tends to them so well and gives them the amazing quality of life ❤️

    • He is my standard for how captive animals should be treated. He gives them as wild a life as possible, and gives them so much love, so much time, good food, thought, medical care everything. Amy's passing hurt me, I cried, and to see Meg still happy and ready to go walk with Kev just show's how well he treats them. We all know how hard it is to lose a loved one, and it's not different in the animal kingdom, yet Kev has managed to help Meggie through it and he is a role model for all people, as are his lions for captive animals.

    • @@Omgbbqhaxlolol I cried my eyes out also when Amy passed away. I still miss her. I was very attached to her personality. I finally got to see a Lion in person at a big zoo in September 2019. People who went to that same zoo in the summer told me that there were 2 Lions, but one passed away at the end of summer. When the zoo was closing, my friend and I walked back to see the Lion again. It's a natural looking habitat. So my pictures look like it was in the wild. This time it got up and was walking, then was Roaring. It was a thrill of a lifetime!

  • 16 years ago in Portugal I got to know a family who had lions in a ten by ten meter cage. I only saw them one time and the impression it left on me lingers on to this day. They were heavily over weight and aggressive. Just a pure display token of their wealth and narcissism. Mr Richardson and the people he works with to provide a safe haven for these animals restores my faith in people somewhat. Thank you for that dude!

  • As a herdsman/farmer it is interesting to watch your vocal and body communication with the animals. I've always been very vocal with my cows, but always made sure that my sounds correlate with my body language and the cows are actually really quick to pick up on it. Once you learn their way of "talking" everything just becomes so much easier and relationships. Any animal will tell you anything and be very precise about it, they never lie. Might try to trick you though ;-) But that is something else and usually revolves around getting acces to something they want. Anyway. Kevin thank you very much for your passion with these marvelous animals and for sharing your life with them! Best regards from Denmark :-)

    • Early 1990's movie, ripping off Zen Archery, for a Snipper movie, " Match your breathing to the breathing of your target, make you breathing as one, feel and count your heart beats and release your killing shot between the beats of your heart." As a country boy I grew up around hunting dogs and will dogs along with bob cats. I learn to match my breath to theirs. Do to my Zen mix martial arts training I learn to reshape my breath control. But in all honestly, I breath like a dog and I have police dogs come up to me all the time. Reason, the dogs .. hear .. my breathing and it is different from all the other humans around them. I am what is different in their environment. I could control my scent of intent. And as a teenager I got into trouble a few times cause I .. moo .. like a cow in heat a bit too well.

  • I have a domestic cat, and compared to a dog I already think that the level of respect you get from a cat.. i mean, you have to level up the relation, since they are so independent and self centered. I cannot imagine what it takes for a human to get respect from not only one, but a bunch of lions. So, for that, and for doing what he does at the sanctuary, Kevin has my utmost respect.

    @marcelofelice3255@marcelofelice32553 жыл бұрын
    • One of the interesting things about Lions is that they’re the only social cat. There’s far more to work with in terms of social behaviors and psychology than there would be with say, a leopard...or a house cat. People can get frustrated with their pet cats because they want them to be more affectionate and social, but they’re fundamentally not social animals. Imo it’s much more interesting to study Lion behavior for that reason than other cats.

She calmed down an angry captive black leopard, and changed his name. You probably know her already? Maybe she can help figuring out, why grumpy Vayetse is so irritated. Maybe it is something that can be solved easily. Of course, you are not crazy, you know your lions. But maybe SHE wants to help you? Just a link to Anna: kzhead.info/sun/p85-mNGQbmZ6bHk/bejne.html

    • @THISIS THEGIRL you must be a nasty person attacking me like you did. I live in the USA. Osama bin Laden had our country attacked and killed thousands of our people. It was a terrible tragedy. So it's painful to have to see his picture and that name, let alone on such a positive, uplifting site about Lions. You must have been living under a rock for the last 20 years to not realize how painful this situation still is to the American people. Maybe you are related to him or was a fan of that evil 😈 one. Your remarks tell who you are.

  • Seeing how wide those mouths are and the power they have, so close to you, could so easily kill you, but they would never. You display a real mastery over Lion psychology and I'm pretty sure your lions would never betray you. You don't see this with others that interact with hand raised Lions. The wild underlying instincts are seemingly never posing a risk to you. You treat these particular ones so well and they look amazing.

  • I love the closeness of your bond with all your animals Kev. I would love to be so close to these guy. I realise that this takes years to establish and even if I went in with you they would see me as prey. I'm glad your looking into his issue if he has one. I know from having house cats all my life (59years) they can hide illness very well and even until it's too late for medical interventions. Your AWESOME Kev xxx

    • Of course, I never saw those Lions in person. But if any pass away, I am crying my eyes out. I lost it when Kevin found Ishka had serious cancer and had to put her down. I think that was over 2 years ago. Then when Amy passed, it terribly upset me. When Kevin brings us in with these videos, I feel like I get to know the different animals. I grow attached to them.

  • I'm concerned about Vayetse. He's been a sweet lion his whole life. I remember when his brother died, he mourned so much that Kevin got Livy & Jinny as companions for him. After the initial awkwardness, which last only a few days, the three of them have lived together contentedly. Vayetse has always been an even-tempered cat. I noticed right away that his chest looked thicker than usual when he first appeared on screen, even before Kev said anything. It is noticeable. I was thinking heart disease, which can result in fluid retention. I think Kevin's correct, and it is advisable to continue searching for a physical reason for the change in behavior. Kevin truly loves the creatures under his care, and if he says there's a problem I trust his judgement. Kevin: please keep us posted! 💕🦁💕
