  • You may have noticed by now but the herbalist hut while an extraction building needs someone with survival skill :) Herbert the Herbalist is perfect!

  • Personally, I accept micro-management as part of the game. The herbalist hut is a good example, I change what they do at the start of every season which becomes second nature after a couple of years. Mushrooms in their season get turned into mushroom soup which most of the time gets sold 'cause I don't think my villagers are that keen on it. Collect a lot of berries in summer which when not consumed by me or in the later game when you have the Tavern being turned into berry juice and then berry wine, provide lots of compost. Winter time is spent making potions from all the other stuff the herbalist collects. If I don't use them myself, they get sold or collected up for sale for the other good late game money making thingy, the market stalls. But to each their own. Cheers.

    • I totally agree The first thing I do each season change is set the number of days for the following season, then set the gather items for the herbalist.

  • You could buy the rye from the farming merchant at the fishing village, Ostoya. She came in handy during my second year when I needed extra fertilizer and manure for my farms. Similarly the forest hamlet of Klonica has an herbalist and the mining town of Skauki has a cook, which may help in other quests. That's on top of the fish/wood/hunting/mining merchants that are apropo to each.

  • I think its def worth getting your herbalist to collect Parasol Mushrooms, Pine Mushrooms and Boletol (orhoweveritspelled) mushrooms - not the bitter ones, just the normal ones. They make a nice mushroom stew thing that also includes meat, and if for some reason, they don't use them, then they break down into rot so that's easy. :) BTW you def need to grow cabbage for fertiliser. I haven't bought fertiliser for ages. In fact, I've got the stuff coming out me ears! Berries also make for good rot and then fertiliser. I've got about 10 compost bins around the place - I store fertiliser in them after turning rot into fertiliser (and now of course I've got pigs and a donkey there's manure coming in.... ye gods!)

  • I love how well the name Herbert fits the job of Herbalist! It was meant to be lol A tip that might be useful for adding more villagers: under the diplomacy tab in the skill tree, you can upgrade the diplomat skill (if you haven’t already) and it increases the amount of dynasty reputation you gain from interactions. I’m not sure if it works as well for quests, but it may be worth looking at! I’m loving this series! I’ve been watching it daily since the first video and it has become part of my morning routine lol, keep up the great work!

  • I started watching this your channel with this series about 2 weeks ago after I finally bought Medieval Dynasty and was looking up gameplay tips. I'd had it on my watchlist for steam for a while before it came out, but waited until I could see user reviews. And after Oxbow came out, there was an overwhelming amount of positive reviews. So far, your gameplay has helped me a lot with my setup. Although I don't get as much time to play, so I'm still in the first year and only just got my first villager. As far as quests go, you've been lucky. My first couple trips to the quest board only had difficult quests, like hunt 10 foxes, or hunt 5 wolves. If I had to make any suggestions so far, it's listen to what the NPCs say in passing sometimes. The voice acting and script writing for them is really well done.

Struggling with anxiety at the moment so this helping me to focus on something else. Also one tip you can sleep in the town you start in just go back to the surgeons hospital i guess u call it and u can sleep in the bed you first wake up in. I also tend to make a campfire just outside a town if i just need sleep till the next day for a quest. Some of the quests are hilarious recommend looking for them.

  • You probably don't need so many flowers or the nightshade, and really only a little St. John's wort in case you get food poisoning. I concentrate mostly on berries when they are in season because you get a LOT, and you can compost them into rot for fertilizer. I also like to keep a healthy supply of plantain on hand for when hunting encounters with wolves or wisent go horribly wrong. Mushrooms would probably be good in the berry off season, but I don't have many recipes that use them. Still a fantastic series, thank you for all the work you put into it!

  • If you want a little boost in coins and aren't above stealing, there are several expensive gift-type items in Mirogod's house in Piastovia--it's the big fancy one. He's almost never in it, so no one will see you take them. You will have to travel to another town to sell them, but you can probably get around 2000 coins for them. It took me a while to figure this out, but you can assign the traveler NPCs you hire to any job related to a skill they have a 3 in and they will be happy. If they have 3 in both farming and survival, they will be happy doing either one. Sometimes you have to ask them about their skills 2 or 3 times, but they will eventually tell you they like both. This should help your search for villagers! As for the Herbalist hut, I usually accept changing it each season. I harvest up the broadleaf plantain and I think dandelion in spring and hoard it until winter for potion making, then split between berries and nightshade in summer. The berries can be used in porridge, but I usually put them in the compost bin for fertilizer. In fall I set it to the three kinds of mushrooms for mushroom soup, and then compost the rest. During winter I then set the herbalist to making healing potions and poisons so they aren't sitting idle.
