Playing tall as a vassal of the Byzantines as the king of Hellas is the most op start I’ve seen so far. Passive 100 income with full men at arms, 12k troops compared to HRE having 13k! So much fun
Whatever you do, aim to get baghdad as soon as you can, the house of wisdom is the most bonkers building in the game: +2 learning per level of fame, 15% cultural fascination progress and 15% to whatever lifestyle you picked. It's amazing. If you're Christian you can divert the first crusade there and give it to an old family member, so you inherit it when they die.
@@altromonte15 ya but you really dont need the city of bagdad... and you will get into alot of easy wars! Stonhenge is also an okay building for this. egypten do also have som nice learning building. but you really dont need them, as the game will be to easy

Who would have thought the winning strategy in life was being tall and having chad like features.
I used the create your own ruler to make a Norse ruler and played tall in Iceland, I made the kingdom of the Viking island and took the two other islands below along with the isle of man and just played that the whole game I got like 20k troops while Britain had 15k, I just burned everywhere raiding and kidnapping people, executed the pope 6 times and ate him once.
This is the way
Nice!
@@mgjamesfin7011 you have spoken.
That’s a resistant Pope if you had to execute him 6 times. Truly has the power of God
Now that is a true viking! Sköl!

10:36 "I'll have you killed, or worse, I'll seduce you!" is such a Crusader Kings thing to say
Holy shit is that story about how Welshmen earned the trope as sheep shaggers real!? Also, we need a build-tall playthrough as some country in West Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, or India!
100% true. It mostly happened because some Welsh courts were hostile to English landowners, so they would let Welshmen off with lighter sentences for a ridiculous crime.
India is basically playing tall area

So if I remember correctly just after the Northern Lords DLC was released I was playing as a vassal of the ERE and decided to conqueror Jerusalem (I went though a phase of playing vassals of the ERE conquering random places like Alhambra for some reason). After taking all the de jure land I 100% focused on development growth, money and fortifying the shit out of the kingdom, little did I know at the time this playstyle had a name, I just thought I was a bit strange for not wanting to conqueror everything because thats pretty much all you saw people do on youtube and the various forums. Anyway I remained a vassal of the ERE with a really good contract so I had coinage rights, guaranteed council position and title revocation protection, hell it even got to the point where I had so much power in the empire I was in complete control of who was emperor and if they pissed me off I would... give them an early retirement. Bear in mind I never went down intrigue, always stewardship, I just paid half the empire to join the scheme and always had a really good spymaster or if there was a- I mean when there was a faction against the emperor (we are talking about the ERE after all, there is always a faction) whichever side I chose won because I was sitting on 10k troops and WAY more gold than anybody else. By the 4th generation I had strengthened and consecrated the bloodline, created every holding in the kingdom and got everything as maxed as I could (all level 4 buildings), made all the counties Orthodox and Greek, successfuly defended against a jihad and the county of Jerusalem itself had become the most developed county in the world. After I created the kingdom of Jerusalem I gave all my other titles away and didn't hold any titles outside of the kingdom for the rest of the playthrough, this just shows you the power of playing tall. P.S. I'm really not trying to toot my own horn here, I fuck up just as much as anybody else and there are people out there WAY better than me but this run was one of my all time favourites and I just wanted to share it.
As long as you own a gold mine playing tall is OP. If you can own Cagliari, Rome and Palermo with their special buildings fully upgraded, you will never run out of money.
Imagine when merchant republics get implemented
@@elpsykoongro5379 you will literally be unstoppable. Doing what I described the main thing I noticed is I ran out of stuff to spend money on and ended up with like 50k that I had nothing to do with. I ended up just sending it to random people to prop their kingdoms up or using it to beat up the byzzies with mercenary spam but if you had merchant Republic stuff to spend it on that'd be maad

Some of the most fun games of CK2 I played was shit like starting as a norwegian peasant sailing off to the british isles and after many years of struggle taking the Isle of Mann. The trick is to either enjoy being methodical on these details, or roleplay to a heavy degree. Neither are particularly common traits even amongst most gamers.

If you play tall, it’s always best to do so as the Isle of Man. That city is just glorious when you fill it all out.
Bohemia is ridiculous too
@@zSwift42 I love playing as Bohemia too. Especially since you can just become a vassal of anyone too large comes along since you’re a 1 duchy kingdom.
@@purpledevilr7463 I started my 1st Royal Court Bohemia run yesterday and it's so good. It's just fun building up your realm first and Bohemia is so potent with the mine in Ćaslav and many Farmlands. Later you can go for uniting the slavs/west slavs or take over the Hre (I like it more to be a vassal to the Hre but it's an option).
@@zSwift42 I don’t like building massive empires as much as a consolidating an area in a secure/logical way with some exceptions. The best aspect is that there are absolutely no pre-made buildings and only 1 city barony in the earlier start-date. So you can completely make it to your design. Making a religion with lay clergy as well is brilliant since you can also hold the church baronies.
