Mississippi State head football coach Mike Leach met with the media for his weekly press conference Monday. The Bulldogs' are coming off of a Senior Day blowout win over East Tennessee State. Leach and MSU now prepare for the annual Battle for the Golden Egg, Thanksgiving Night. Kickoff is set for 6PM on ESPN.
Coach Leach was also asked about his relationship with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, and Leach answered about how far he and Lane go back. Leach and Kiffin would cross paths often even before their days in the Magnolia State began. Check out the Pirate's answer here.

Rebel fan of 50 years here. Losing the Egg Bowl rips my guts out. But if I'm going to have my guts ripped out I'd rather Mike Leach do it than any MSU coach of my lifetime. I almost cannot root against this man.

@Jake Mitchell As a lifelong State fan, I agree with everything you wrote. Additionally, I consider myself a fan of Lane Kiffen. It's fun being part of the most hate-filled rivalry in the US, but in real life I'm glad Kiffen stuck with the Rebs and I'm glad he's building a program ya'll can be proud of. With both teams having big personality coaches, this rivalry is more interesting than it has been in years and I hope it stays that way.

As a Texas fan, I relate to this so much. Texas fan respected Leach more than most Texas Tech fans and alum did until he was no longer in Lubbock to scheme those inferior teams into knocking the bullies down a leg or two. And right when he turned them into something they’d never been, he gets the boot because the talentless son of a privileged ESPN commentator didn’t like being treated like some other talentless walk-on. Even if they lost 53-39 and never punted while going 0-9 on fourth downs, it was damn fine entertainment watching those odd offensive line splits allow some no name QB chunk it for 785 yards and 5 TDs.

Ever since Coach was run out of Texas Tech because of the butt hurt ESPN announcer and the spineless Tech admin, I have made it a point to follow any team Leach coaches.

Brian Kelly pretty much killed a student while at ND by having practice with high winds and sent a student up on one of those genie lift things which fell over due to the wind. Maybe that’s what Your thinking about

This one hurts to watch. People who have recently had pneumonia are like 6x more likely to have a heart attack. Oddly enough, my dad passed from the same thing a year ago yesterday. You just never know. Rest In Peace, Coach.

While he was at WSU, Leach stole Oregon's soul. He beat Oregon FOUR times in a ROW. If my memory serves me right, he actually nearly beat them SIX times in a row. He nearly beat them even when they had Mariota. It took a terrible call by the referees to save Oregon from defeat. After that game, he beat them four times in a row, then he lost a very close one. Leach flat out had Oregon's number. Oregon has access to unlimited wealth, facilities, and recruiting talent compared to WSU, yet Leach out-coached them year after year after year. Oregon even used money to poach Leach's assistant coaches away, but it still didn't matter. Oregon's BIGGEST MISTAKE was not hiring Leach as their head coach. With the kind of talent that Oregon money can buy, Leach would have won a national championship had he coached at Oregon. Big mistake by Oregon for not hiring him.

Texas A&M played against Coach Leach for many many years prior to joining the SEC. No matter what, Aggies respected and feared him, but always loved this guy. No matter what.

@@ZacTexC not with the way they constantly fire coaches they're not. They got to understand that success isn't always instant. Often it takes many years to build up the program, get the right recruits in and give it some time. Auburn is not Alabama.

Kiffin is overrated as a HC he’s the CFB Josh McDaniels let him be an OC for a strong HC remove all his responsibilities aside from manufacturing yards and points.
Doesn’t it raise some eyebrows though that the head coach of MSU who has obviously had health issues all season. Heart attacks can be easily prevented if treated and a man with wealth and a university with plenty of medical experts by his side. Must be more to it. But regardless his family and friends and the cfb fans have loss a great man with a one of a kind personality.
