I tried spring traps, battery zappers, etc, no luck. Then I found this. My rats were attracted to my bird feeders where I used black oil sunflower seeds. I set this up and set up my game camera to watch. I strung the string to a large nail and tied a small bag of seeds to the middle of the string. I put it on my concrete deck where I had watched them travel every night. I caught rats every night for six days. I found the big ones could drag the cover to the edge of the patio and escape. So. I tied a plastic drink bottle filled with water, to the top for additional weight and it worked perfectly. I had to euthenize the rat with my pellet rifle but that was easy. Simple, easy clean-up, worked every time. These were black rats with 9" tails, so I was not "mouse hunting". It would work for mice too but I would try a smaller nail that would pull easier. You want to balance the nail very carefully so it sill trip but a strong wind can blow it over if it is really a hard breeze. Good Hunting!

There is no use of it. how you throw away the rat ? you have to lift the fan guard, if you lift the fan guard, the rat escapes.. when a rat is trapped it has to remain the trap till such time it is thrown out side away from the house..... no use

This is very humane along with extending the life of the mouse in captivity. This is well done. At the video time of 3:19 minutes, the composer of this score had inserted an eerily sounding chord which denotes an atmosphere of anticipation as the mouse is about to be encaptured. If you want to be extra humane, try lifting the cover/trap, as this may give him time to extricate himself.

- Well... it would be detrimental to someone else's life if you release it outside. It might be morally ambiguous to even do that, and generally speaking most people wouldn't let a rat live.
