Authorities really just be like "the victim was found tied up with multiple defensive wounds, a man's DNA was found all over the crime scene, we have clear CCTV footage of the entire event and a written confession was sent to the police station. This was obviously a suicide..."

Police and Judges get straight up paid to lie about evidence and even incriminate people the pigs and judges are nothing more than a criminal organization in most parts of the US.
We would all like to believe we are better than that, but I think most people, when actually faced with a bribe of say, $5,000,000 to cover up a murder, we would take it. Rebecca was killed, none of this was a mystery. Also they definitely killed her because the man’s son was in her care when he died. Despite the fact that the boy more than likely was just rambunctious and ended up injuring himself which unfortunately led him to his death. I hate that this is being called a mystery. We all know he did it.

While Civil Court do have different standards than Criminal Court have, it’s not a walk in the park to get someone convicted as being liable of someone else’s death - so why did the jury at the wrongful death lawsuit find the brother responsible for her death if there was nothing suggesting that he was? Had LEO done their job correctly, there would have been far more technical evidence, and add to this, the facts that she had mud on ONE of her feet, should have succeeded in gagging herself with the double knoted sleeves of a long sleeved shirt that were also wrapped around her head, tie a complicated knot that requires knowledge about knots around both feet and hands, she had residue from tape on her legs - how should she have received FOUR head traumas during her fall/"jump" from the balcony, why was the message on her phone deleted, why did someone access her PC, what about the neighbor who had recordings of someone crying for help?
What strikes me as odd in the Theo Hayez case is that the bouncer took his photo before he left the bar. That, coupled with the fact that he was kicked out for no apparent reason according to witnesses, looks extremely suspicious imo. I would take a closer look at the bar and it's employees. There may be way more going on there than meets the eye. I think Theo may have been purposely targeted from the beginning.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Like maybe he went into the woods to evade someone. That still doesn't explain why he kept texting his friends like nothing was wrong though. Very sad case, but fascinating.
I think he met someone on the sports field...for sex...and they went down to the beach. He was then murdered by them and his body taken away.
I think he probably drowned.
To be fair security are sometimes instructed to get your ID information or a profile photo if there is a problem when they do not scan on entrance. I think he went somewhere after the club and there was trouble

My issue with the cops going off of Theo's Google location data is that I walk to and from work every day and my app always asks me "How did you enjoy the City Park?" when I didn't go anywhere near the City Park. I wouldn't trust Google location for anything.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. According to Google maps, I live like half a kilometer away from my actual home. That’s a pretty big difference when you’re trying to establish the exact path a missing person took.

I just noticed how wrong mine was last night, it thinks I live at a park like 4 blocks from my building and I visit my building daily apparently but it doesn’t know how I get there daily bc obviously I wake up here… I never go to that park nor even that direction in fact I only go the opposite way like exclusively except for maybe once a week when I get a ride, so definitely not reliable at all
It feels like 9 out of 10 unsolved mysteries includes a variation of the phrase "police had a mountain of evidence, but for some reason none of it was utilized. They then concluded that the victim killed themselves."

Like that “forensic odontologist” (Dr Michael West) who was taking casts of teeth then using the mold to clamp the skin of the victim to “prove” it matched. He even said to a defense attorney who sent her PI as a “suspect “ and he said it was a perfect match. Of the PI who hadn’t been in the state . But there was a serial killer targeting little kids and they refused to acknowledge that they were connected . Instead saying one of the child’s mothers bf killed the kid and the” bites” on the body were a “perfect match”. Turns out, they weren’t even human bites.. it was crawfish bites. Super sad. The president of the forensic odontological association actually sent out bite mark evidence and found that if he sent a case to multiple other dentists they couldn’t even agree if the bite marks were human. He resigned and started to re-examine cases and has found a lot of people sent to jail solely on misconstrued bite mark evidence. And that’s just one field. Arson investigators, even fingerprints, aren’t as cut and dry as they are made out to be.
I guess she magically tied herself up in BDSM gear and then magically put a noose around her neck and the magically hung herself to death... Where did this magic come from... "Don't know".

the case of Rebecca Zahau haunts me. why wasn't there any security camera footage from that night? filthy rich people always have security cameras, at the very least on the outdoor spaces on the property, including courtyard areas. i'm sure Rebecca felt a little guilty about what happened to Max, even though it was a freak accident, but not to the point where she would kill herself in such an elaborate and humiliating way.
My theory is the Billionaire husband had a personal enemy and was trying to destroy him fully; Tried to kill the little boy and make it look like Rebecca was responsible (one coriner thought the boy was suffocated BEFORE the "fall") - but Rebecca managed to get help for the boy before he died. So the killer returned and set Rebecca up in that way, thus the writing - "She saved him" (Rebecca saved the boy) "can you save her?" The brother being in town would have been the perfect cover for the real killer. Anyone could have googled the bondage porn on the brothers computer, and the deleted voice mail might have had details about the actual killer.
Sounds like someone tricked her into a bondage scene and then tossed her over.

I live in the center of a big city in Germany. Almost every weekend at late hours I hear screams, especially from women, then I get concerned and look out of the window to see whether someone is in danger. All I see are drunk people screaming and sometimes even shouting “help” just for fun, then giggling. They do it for attention for some reason. I’m always worried that one day, someone might really need help and nobody will take them seriously because it is “normal” that drunk people scream at nights.

Yeah.....we all know what happened to the girl in the second case, right? Not gonna say anything about what happened to the little boy, but we all know what happened to the woman. The brother murdered her and slipped the right people the right amounts. The fact that the investigation was half-assed coupled with the MULTITUDE of evidence that it was a homicide being completely overlooked....we all know. Prosecutors put more effort into proving how she could have tied herself up than they put into solving her murder. "Well, she was stripped, bound, and had a t-shirt shoved into her mouth to keep her quiet! Must have been--oh, the dude comes from a billionaire family? Suicide it is! Very tragic!"
What I don't get is how come the brother didn't remove everything (ropes, t-shirt) when he cut her down? It would have made the story more plausible.

Only thing I can't figure out is, if they wanted it to look like a suicide then why leave a note that obviously wasn't from her?
One possibility is Theo was killed in the sporting field and the killer went to the beach to dispose of the phone. This would explain why his phone was in the field for 7 minutes, then didn't stop moving until it reached the beach, where the killer probably left it there to cause confusion, then came back and decided to throw it into the ocean

I can't believe Rebecca's story didn't end with: "And that's when the Chief of Police was forced into retirement, the lead investigator was fired, and several other detectives were either fired, fined or demoted." - Seriously?! The police find a pair of women's underwear in the guest room of the last guy to see Rebecca alive, AND who found the body.....NAKED, and they don't test to check for her DNA on them?! Did they check her underwear drawer for matching pairs? Ask her sister if she recognized them as her sister's? Did they wonder why a grown man who just flew into town has women's underwear? Where did they come from? - So many questions.

You've got to be careful while on vacation. Most people don't think about how dangerous it is to be in a new place especially if your out of your home country and don't know what the local scene is really like. In some areas the "touristy" areas are night and day to the real city or town. Be careful out there, don't be an idiot, and don't ever be rude to the locals!

I was in Byron a month after Theo disappeared, and it's a bit chilling for me that I was in and got kicked out of Cheeky monkeys in similar fashion (kicked out for no apparent reason). I remember finding my way back to my hostel using Google maps just fine. It's near impossible that he got lost trying to go back to his hostel...and I felt a pretty weird vibe from the place by some of the locals when I was there. Unfortunately I think he ended up running into the wrong hippie addict locals when trying to walk towards the beach.
I mean it's pretty obvious if you ask me. He met Someone at that park who offered to show him a way to the lighthouse (no way he just navigated through the brush on his own) and then once they got there, well thats the only real mystery.

i remember when theo went missing, it was all over the news down here. it's just gone 3 years since he went missing and apparently there are new credible leads and another inquest into the disappearance is being held this month. i truly hope something comes of it and his family get closure

I would like to note that on the Rebecca Zahau case, it was mentioned he was looking up "Asian Bondage" videos before her murder. One common color for rope for shibari is red, the same color rope Rebecca was bound with.
also it's a form of soft supple rope that doesn't scratch your skin. As thick as it is, of course it's pretty strong, but it's designed to be comfortable first.

I would like to know in the Theo disappearance why not even one friend walked home with him. He gets thrown out for basically no reason and his friends just say, oh well to bad see you later. They all should have left with him.

I live in the same city where the Rebecca case happened. EVERYONE knows it was a murder. There isn't a single person who thinks it was anything else. From the police investigation, to the media coverage, it was so half-assed and painted her as a suicidal, depressed person. Rebecca's murder investigation was embarrassingly bad and very open-close in a very quick manner. A similar case where police have done practically nothing to investigate further, is in the case of another missing Asian woman. She actually disappeared in my aunt's neighborhood. Her name is Maya Millete. Everyone knows her husband killed her. Yet police have done almost nothing. After more than a year, they barely arrested her husband even when they had a plethora of evidence pointing the murder to him. Many assume her dead.
I feel sorry for these women.. they are not getting the justice they deserve.. being a woman it hurts to see these crimes against women and not getting justice😢

I think he met a local vagrant at that field who offered to have drinks or a joint with him at the beach/lighthouse. Then stole his phone and pushed him off the rocks or something. Probably switched the phone off sleep mode to see if it had a password, then turned it off again realizing they didn’t know the pin code, without attempting to unlock it. Would explain why there was no sign of distress from Theo on his weird route out to the rocks. He was just expecting a friendly hangout, and was looking up routes home for when they were done chilling.
As for the first kid in Australia.. I got a feeling the bar had something to do with it & he was kidnapped. Either that or he stumbled across the wrong shady people near the homeless area & was chased then killed. Although it's unlikely that's the case as it's quite rare NOT to find any signs of a struggle or find a body making me lean heavily on him being abducted.
Generally the homeless have to be more worried about housies than housies have to be about the homeless. Most the homeless are very cautious about others and mean no harm to others, I was homeless for years.

I lived in Coronado at the time of that incident. I would take Ocean Avenue, the street where Spreckle’s mansion sits, on my route to work sometimes. I remember driving by in the days following the deaths of Rebecca and Max and it was absolutely swarmed with police and news cameras. So much is so weird about this case. It still doesn’t sit right with me.

Byron's coldest night would be an uncomfortable chill fall evening for a Belgian. Not pleasant by any means, but highly unlikely to kill a drunk 18 year old on its own. Not to say it could be some other kind of natural element that killed him, but it was most likely not the cold.
I had a friend that lived on Coronado some years ago. I had the impression that the police were there for the convenience of the inhabitants, not to maintain law and order.
Coronado has practically no Crime. It's a Military Island. The Police there are inept and have very little experience with anything outside of a traffic stop. Paying off Cops isn't as easy as people think, especially considering you also have to deal with Body Cam footage and such now. She likely was killed, in revenge for killing the child, but I highly doubt they paid off the cops.
Rebecca’s case is very creepy and sad. If nothing else, I’m quite glad that her family received compensation.

This bothered me, too. Even when in one's hometown, let alone abroad, it's always wise to walk back with others - or offer to walk with them. Again, this is even if you've a clear head, let alone when someone is compromised in some fashion (which Theo didn't seem to be).

This is the first thing I thought as well. If you go to a bar or club with people, and one of them gets thrown out for being “too drunk“, leave with that person. It doesn’t matter if the person says it’s OK. leave with him/her. You can always go drinking another night or just walk with that person to another bar down the street. Why Bribe Cops when they are inexperienced Cops that have never dealt with anything beyond a DUI? Coronado is pretty well known through San Diego as having practically Zero Crime. The bouncer for sure needs to be questioned. It seems like he was chosen to be robbed/killed for some reason and taken out of the bar so whoever was going to grab him could do so. Then he was sat in that field and interrogated and then probably strapped to some sort of bike and taken to that lighthouse while his captives texted back and forth on his phone to avoid suspicion for as long as possible.
Rebecca was the victim of a feud between Jonah and his brother. There is absolutely no way it could’ve been anything else. Even if we want to be EXTREMELY generous and say she beat herself over the head, gagged herself, bound herself and then hung herself, why would she write “she saved him, can you save her” as her last words? why would she talk about herself in the third person, and why would she challenge Jonah about saving her if they’d just started dating and she assumedly had nothing against him? If she blamed herself for his son’s injury enough to kill herself, why would she make a point about “saving” him (i assume in reference to her giving him CPR) and why would she make such a huge display of it instead of doing it in a lowkey way to avoid bringing more pain to the family? Her body was put on display, her death was to make a point to Jonah. No way she killed herself out of guilt

You should have added the 911 call from Adam Shacknai in the Rebecca Zahau case. He cut her down before making the 911 call because on the call he says he is doing chest compressions. So that would mean that he had cut her down, noticed her ankles bound, her hands bound behind her back(because he wouldn't be able to lay her in the proper position for CPR due to this) and still decided to claim she hung herself. Think it's worth nothing that Adam also was asked if Rebecca was alive by the 911 operator to which he responded by asking Rebecca's lifeless body "are you alive?". He knew Rebecca. May have been friends with her. She trusted him enough to go back to the house with him so it does not seem normal to say such a thing after you find your friend who apparently hung herself. Is this case a mystery? The only mystery is how this guy got away with his crimes. Police negligence is very obviously a common thing.

Theo's case seems like a case of looking for drugs (probably only weed) online, ending up in a sketch park and following the wrong people. He was probably mugged and murdered, and likely isn't the only one to have gone that way in Byron. Stuff like that happens all over the world, they prey on visitors.

I literally came to the comments to say exactly this. He stood in that park seeing if anyone was holding, some sketchy guy says he needs to meet his hookup somewhere, so Theo follows him. That explains the fast walking pace because he was following this person. They get to the beach, guy says to wait there, so Theo texts his friends and watches a bit of his show. Sketchy guy comes back (maybe with a small group of other guys), robs and murders Theo, then throws his body in the ocean. It was cold, so the body may have sunk, then got caught in a riptide and pulled out to sea to be eaten by sharks or crabs or whatever else.

With the first one, Theo Hayez, I am surprised there is no theory about the bar he went to. It's weird that he got kicked out for "being too drunk" while others and footage dispute that and had his picture taken (probably to ban him from the establishment but also helps to send the picture to someone else). My theory would be that with a bar with a very bad reputation they might have ways to shake down tourists. And that Theo happened to be the mark, that someone who had been shown his picture approached him and took him somewhere private under the guise of showing him something cool. And maybe struggled to much and sadly got his life taken away from him. Although you would think he'd tell people if he was with someone or running for some reason. Lot of weird things. Wonder if Theo got taken earlier at the field, and someone went out to the beach while pretending to be him to get rid of the phone.

The videos show him walking and texting. Although I must agree that the bouncer at the bar seems kinda shady we can only make that determination based on the narrator's choice of words. Walking and texting in the dark through unfamiliar terrain makes an accidental injury/death extremely likely. Phone drops dislodging the battery phone goes off line someone finds it shuts it down as soon as it's fixed because it's worth a few dollars.

Very suspicious in Rebecca´s case is the fact that Adam cut the ropes and police found Rebecca on the ground. Why would he do that if he isn´t involved?

Adam was found guilty in civil suit a few years ago and ordered to pay the family millions for being responsible "for the wrongful death" of Rebecca Zahau - disgusting that he had no jail time, but it was a civil suit after all.
The burden of proof in civil cases is much lower, just because it finds you guilty doesn't mean a criminal case could prove it.

I've actually had my Google maps glitch out on me and send me very weird ways more than once. When I was going back home after driving 4 hours to see my then girlfriend, Google decided to take me down back roads (and by back roads i mean it literally took me down a gravel road next to a giant farm) instead of the interstate which i had come down on. I have a feeling that might have happened to Theo as well. His GPS took him down a very weird route to get back to the place he was staying, and from there he might have either met someone who killed him or he got lost and ended up dying that way.
Yes! Agreed...Google maps did that to me, my husband, his friend and his friend's daughter when we were just outside of Lake Charles, LA. It put us on a dirt road alongside a river - wtf?!! Thankfully, 1) there were four of us, and 2) we managed to download Waze, which pulled us right out. So scary though!

Is it possible that Theo had been kidnapped? Perhaps the bouncers at the bar who took his picture were involved in a trafficking ring, I wonder if they were questioned or not. Maybe during the 7 minutes theo stood in one place he’d been attacked, and the rest of the route and communications on his phone were done by someone else, and the route may have been a red herring or perhaps towards the den where his assailants operated from?
It scares me how close I ended up being a story like the first one on here. I got stabbed in the face on the way to my hostel in santa marta colombia. Still healing from that. Thankfully I fought them off and ran to my hostel leaving a 6 block long blood trail.

I had never heard of the case before that day and haven’t heard of it in a long time since and this video made me question my previous belief. Also we were getting information from a police department who has every reason to want us to confirm what they decided. The reasoning behind why she would’ve made it look like a murder just didn’t really add up to me. Like if you were going to commit suicide I don’t feel like familial religious shame would drive someone enough to try to cover it up like that but maybe I’m just thinking too rationally or can’t understand why religion would drive someone to do something like throw yourself off a balcony naked. One thing that made me think it was a suicide was the fact that there was no other foot prints on the balcony, so she wasn’t forced physically off of it. (there was a boot print that was confirmed as a first responder or police officer first on scene) she could’ve been forced with a gun off of the ledge I guess. this video claims there that there was another foot print that was unidentifed or something but I never remember seeing another foot print except the identified one and hers. Also the investigators never told us about the heights of the writing matching up with where the boyfriend would write on the wall.

I think Theo was led by someone else. Especially considering he was texting his family the whole time, in French. In Theo’s case, I really do believe his disappearance falls within theory 2. It makes the most sense that he met a local at the pub or after leaving the pub who showed him the route that he inevitably went missing on.
I mean, they say the park he was at was frequented by homeless people and drifters. One of them, or someone using their presence as a cover, could’ve attacked him. People warn against going to places like that at night for a reason after all.
It's also known that the area he was last seen in footy field before he walked towards the thick scrubland and onto the beach is a gay cruise/beat area.

In the case of Theo, some phones have an "auto sleep mode" that activates and deactivates at certain times. I have one on mine that activates at 10 PM and reactivates at 7 AM.

The horror and fear Rebecca must have felt in her final moments. It's like something out of a horror movie. So awful and tragic.
It's insane someone could be found in such a horrible condition and the whole event is blamed on the victim and swept under the rug.

it may be because he just can walk straight even when he's not drunk. I personaly can't walk straight sober and it's worse when i'm on my phone.
The second case reminds me of the Canadian pharma couple who the police first claimed suicided together, then he killed her and committed suicide, the she killed him, and now they’ve finally settled on murder but have no idea who did it. Man it’s almost like the police don’t want to investigate some people or cases. Her first name was Honey iirc

Theo's story seems much like the movie Wolf Creek to some degree there's no way he wasn't murdered
I’ve heard this story many x’s & watched the news crime stories/documentaries on this, with interviews from his family. But never heard (until now) about the picture that Cheeky Monkeys took before kicking him out. I’d love to know if that’s their normal protocol before removing someone? If not, I’d almost think he were set up.
Might be right, but I know from experience in some bars they take pictures of people after they kick them out so that they can post them on their wall for when they return so other security can recognize them and deny them entry.
Well according to witnesses he wasn't doing anything wrong just dancing having a good time like everyone else. Why would they kick him out? Thats the part I dont get

That’s prob the most irresponsible thing a bar can do, is to kick out very intoxicated people & not arrange them a mandatory ride home. The kids actions afterwards, weren’t even those of someone drunk either. He didn’t walk drunk or google search drunk, heck if I were drunk in a foreign country…I prob wouldn’t be able to recall the name of my hostel (to look up map directions to) & he did, among other internet history. I feel bad for his Godfather, being he was a local & felt more responsibility for him while there. I wish he’d have given him a call, cause he’d have been there in a second to help.
Incompetently managed bars/clubs, as CM clearly was, like to flex on people and make examples of them, even if it’s bad PR and makes no sense. Places like CM would literally just exist to rip off tourists. It’s now permanently closed; no surprises there.
Wait, I had no idea the banister the kid fell over on that case was one that was going down the stairs. I always thought it was a situation like the one Damien knocked his mom over in the Omen. I've heard this case a _ton_ of times, saying theses no way he could have fallen over, and why would he even climb up something that high. For the same reason any kid gets on a banister that's going down the stairs: to slide down it.

let's not forget there was a doctor who thought the kid was killed. so maybe she did that to little Max so her and her youngr sister could have "more money for they" and they found out she confesed and she was executed.
The best theory is he met someone at the park and they murdered him. His phone fell out of his pocket and auto came off of sleep mode and then died or got washed out with the tide. His body is likely in the brush.
The 2nd one is just astounding how they ruled that a suicide. What would be the point of hanging yourself outside naked after beating herself up and tied her hands, on top of the brother touching evidence. That police department needs to be shut down
Theo’s phone traveled. Doesn’t mean he did. Very likely Theo never left the town. Body placed in a dumpster, phone then traveled on to the beach. A person knew the trail why no street lights didn’t impede the trek.
But why would he google directions back to his hostel while traveling through the trail?

Tourists have a bad reputation for treating Australian beaches like the ocean is a big swimming pool and keeping the lifeguards very busy through the day. Drunk, night swimming in the ocean is absolutely stupid. If you get caught in rip, they can drag you out to sea for kilometres and if you try to swim against it you'll pass out of exhaustion before you get any closer to the beach. If you come to Australia swim at the beach between the flags when lifeguards are on duty, don't be drunk and don't swim against a rip tide you will not win.
@@MrMoles01you have to take into consideration that it was in winter. Even in Byron where the winters aren’t as bad as Melbourne or Tasmania, no one is going swimming at midnight in winter.

Everybody seems to ignore the detail that Max was (maybe) suffocated before his fall. Maybe Rebecca wanted to start her own family with Jonah so she killed Max and made it seem like an accident. In one way or another, Jonah, Dina and Adam made Rebecca responsible for Max's death, so they paid that back thinking (or knowing) she killed Max
I watched a 60 minutes episode on the first story. Theo's family believed he had chosen to take a long route back to the hostel to see the beach, met a local at the area where he stopped for seven minutes and accepted an offer to show him the way to the beach. The investigators walked the path he used to get from the residential are to the beach and I agree that, at night and unfamiliar with the area, it would have been impossible for him to find it, or traverse along the narrow, over grown route, without the help of someone who knew that area well. I, personally, believe the theory that he was on the rocks trying to get up to the lighthouse. I think whoever he bumped into had more alcohol and offered to walk and drink with him and by the time they reached the beach, Theo was much more intoxicated. That possibly lead to an accident that left Theo in the sea and the unknown companion on the rock with his phone. The stranger was drunk and panicked and was too scared of being blamed to ever come forward. I think that person turned Theo's phone on, then realised that could be used to trace them and turned it straight back off and destroyed it. It's not a perfect theory, but it's what I think most likely happened. Then again, I have heard stories of Byron Bay's uncharacteristically high number of missing persons, which could point to a sophisticated serial killer, yet to be caught.

Right. Like she could make professional boat captain level knots at a time of extreme distress if she’s thinking of taking her life. It’s kinda disturbing she died “falling” from a balcony like Max “fell” from a landing.
