  • Mark you are genius. Thank you for a wonderful explanation of A74. Cheers. I did learn a lot of features which I was not aware. Thanks once again.

  • The most helpful tutorial on the A7iv I’ve come across. Thank you for explaining each function. Unlike the other tutorials that just show you “the best settings for photo/video”. I’m coming from an entry level canon. So the menu is hard to navigate as it is, but I didn’t understand a lot of the meaning of the settings. It’s almost like it’s written in code haha

  • Mark, your A to Z series is outstanding! I just got my A7iv and it is my first Sony (my Pana GH5 kit is now up for sale!) and your educational videos have been indispensable. I'm so impressed I signed up last night as a Patreon subscriber and I was planning on working through the A7iv e-book but I saw this new addition to the A-Z series so that one has to wait! Thank you for all these amazing contributions to the community! One small note for you, on my yellow Setup menu (firmware release v 1.0) I actually have a different menu structure than what you show here. I'm sure you were working off a pre-production unit, but now yellow 6. is "accesibility" and everything else moves down one. No problem following along with your information here of course but I thought I would toss that out for you as my tiny little contribution to the effort!

    • The Accessibility menu page is only available in North America and then only if you choose the English language on initial setup. All other countries don't have that page. It would have been nice if they added that page last so that it did not change the numbered pages for my educational videos.

  • For my "PAL" pals ;-) ... the only reason why you should use PAL is if you record/film for the BBC. Since every Computer Screen / TV / Mobile etc are native 60Hz (and multiple of it), you should only use NTSC settings even if you are in Europe like me (30/60Hz). Playback for your clients will be far far smoother (youtube&co). 24fps is a sweetspot, since it´s easier to pulldown/playback 30Hz from it. But. 30Hz will be ALWAYS super smooth (aka NON cinematic/news style). Just saying. Excellent video as always, cheers!

    @GregorMima@GregorMima2 жыл бұрын
    • This PAL vs NTSC thing is so confusing, with so many different views on the issue. What is the definitive answer, anyone? We live in a global world today, but most of us film for local clients. What is the best solution for those producing video in Europe, but with KZhead and social media platforms in the mix?

    • Yes, is weird the brand new GM70-200mm II is not supported. Same for the "AF Assist", apparently also no support for GM70-200mm II.

  • Hi Mark I have ordered the Sony M4 camera and have looked at your cam settings which show replacing settings with yours if I join patreon and use you cam settings on my new camera will I still go to replace when I add yours

    @amycampbellc560@amycampbellc560 Жыл бұрын
    • You can save your current settings as a CAMSET from the Save/Load settings menu. If you back these up on a computer, or use a different memory card, you can restore your own settings at any time.

      @AlphaCreativeSkills@AlphaCreativeSkills Жыл бұрын
  • Does the "different setting for still/Mv" option exist on the a6600? It drives me crazy that I have to reset everything when switching between the two. I've been using a memory slot to manage it so far but this looks better. The menu you're showing looks different than the Sony alpha menus I've seen before

  • Quick question Mark … how to specify a separate folder eg if I am shooting a Timelapse and I want that to go in a sp folder. Also I am not seeing my photos in order I took them … is it a LR settings that I accidentally changed or is it something I need to specify in camera …using a7R 3 and a74

    @sallymally6892@sallymally68922 жыл бұрын
    • Lightroom has many options for the order of viewing in a folder. These options can be accessed from the Toolbar in the Library panel. Yes - you can create a new folder on your A7IV at any time. Setup > Setup6 > New Folder on an older Alpha and Shooting > File > Create New Folder on the A7IV. For ongoing support consider joining my Patreon.com/markgaler service.

  • Hey Mark, i have a7iv and generally i use 1080p resolution for video. But my friend said that if i shoot in 1080p and if i do crop then that crop video will be turned into 720p. Is this true ?? Does doing crop in video will change resolution?? Coz if we take a pic with 32 megapixel and if we crop that will be 15 megapixel approx. so will same formula apply to video aswell?? Are Megapixels and Resolutions the same? Plz make us clear.

    @alerajendra@alerajendra Жыл бұрын
    • Depends where you are cropping - shooting in APS-C mode is cropping but if you have selected HD then your movie will still be 1080p We only refer to pixel dimensions with video files (not megapixels) but 4K (3840 x 2160) is 8.3 megapixels. If you are wanting to master this camera and need to use me as your mentor then I can offer you ongoing support on Patreon.com/markgaler I have a 1-hour resolution and noise seminar for my patrons as well as a 500-page camera-specific eBook you can download for your camera.,
