IT HAS STARTED!! LAMBING 2024

2024 ж. 6 Сәу.

I guess I was hopeful for better weather as it feels like we have endured enough miserable rain and mud …. But no … it continues indefinitely! But there are some positives and some good lambs as well as challenging conditions. Thank you for sharing in the journey with me - all the highs and lows ❤️ Joanna

  • your doing a great job there guys.......tough going in this bloody weather but you just do the best you can that's all you can do.........seeing you walking through the mud there reminded me of the days of the foot and mouth outbreak 20 years or more ago now............pictures on t.v of RSPCA helpers helping farmers with there lambing and carrying wet and cold lambs accross fields out of the mud........they were truelly desperate and sad times

  • old timers around here used to always catch the ewe and turn it up and give the lamb s a suck when they were lambing out .........its amazing what weather they will put up if they get a suck soon after its born........... i see that u have a stack of bales left ........dont be tempted to sell them ......might be a year where everything is needed .....they will keep ........i fed a few that were made in 2021 lately they were fine ... you have good strong lambs .......mighty triplets altogether .......all that feed and minding has paid off .......well done you both .!.....keep up the good work ....

  • Hi Joanna, Well the lambing season has finally started. Some busy days and nights ahead. It's only natural to miss your dad Joanna. It can take many years sometimes to get over it. I lost my gran forty four years ago, my mum thirty years ago and my dad fifteen years ago. I can remember it all like it was yesterday, but I still miss them so much. Just remember, I'm sure your dad is looking down on you somewhere, with a big smile on his face. I hope everything goes well for you this season as you and Nick deserve it. At least the weather is starting to warm up a little, so that's one positive...😃👍🏻

  • We just got done with lambing here in Iowa. We ended up with quite a few triplets this year and one quadruple even. Now it's calving time here on our farm.

  • Joanna, my hope is to visit one day, I would love to volunteer my help in anyway you needed it. You probably already know this, but you and Nick are very appreciated and loved by many of us. We are all wishing you the very best, in all the challenges that arise. The one thing I’m very sure about, is your dad would be very proud of you of what you have accomplished, in taking care of the farm. ❤🙏🏼

  • Top job with the lambing Joanna; despite the rotten weather. I hope there's some fine weather coming soon so the fields can produce a decent body of feed for all the livestock. As always you're both doing an excellent job managing the farm and the campsite. Well done.

  • I was wondering if your funds could run to a tough poly tunnel you could bring the sheep into, giving you and the sheep an easier time and better lamb survival. I was able to keep the sheep in until the lambs had filled their skins. You are doing a grand job and I am sure dad is very proud of you and Nick. Lammacs would help keep the wet and wind chill factor from affecting the lambs.

  • The weather! it's just not giving you a break. I watch the Sheep Game, he's in Scotland, terrible weather, and Zwartbles Ireland Suzanna Crampton, terrible weather. Your lambing so far is really successful, great looking lambs; Cammy's has been pretty gruesome so far. But it just seems at the moment that the entire UK is literally under the weather.

    @barbtries@barbtriesАй бұрын
  • Have u considered making an area for the sheep for when they are lambing so they are indoors in the warm it would mean less loss and having to deal with hyperthermia lambs also. I know u try to bring them in but wouldn’t it be easier if they were housed and u knew around the time they would be ready to lamb? Just a question I know most farmers bring there sheep inside during lambing season especially in the uk
