Riding my top bucket list trail. I've been waiting years to be able to ride this trail and it lived up to all expectations! I don't know how I'm ever going to top this ride. Thanks to Mike for coming out to join me on an incredible adventure.

  • Gorgeous trail! Thanks for posting. Love the approach to riding this terrain in a way that lets you still fully enjoy. It's amazing how quiet the bikes are, and I realized some of it is just you guys cruising and not reving the bikes out unless needed, which I for one greatly appreciate.

  • Great ride and great riding. I'm only 7 minutes in but felt compelled to comment - I wish that the "defenders of nature" could see this and realize that not all dirt bikes are for destroying hillsides. Everyone should practice their skills to achieve this level: you're not eroding the trail any more than a horse does. Cheers!

    • Perfect conditions, i am envious. My trails have many side by sides on them nowadays and they kick up the dirt and make it very dusty. Like riding in a dust storm. I ride on days after it rains, sometimes in the rain even. U have to where a dust mask, i have a custom made washable foam one that fits with my helmet. Sometimes, we go two weeks without rain in the heat of the summer, and i am on lake michigan. You would think rain would be more periodic, but its not. Mostly dirt and sand, not alot of big rocks. The forests however are amazing. Upper penisula, it is thick and green. Some areas so think your boxed in and breaking thru all the brush would be a pain in the a ss so you stay on the trail. Bears, wolves,coyotes, wolverines, elk, etc. We even have large rattlesnake, although rare. We just do not have the mountains or elevation which is a different riding experience.

    • Exactly. In a former life, I did a lot of mountain biking, often on hiking trails listed in "A Foot and a Field" in San Diego county. Some of the trails were shared with horseback riders, and those animals can destroy a trail, especially after a rain.

    @jtb344@jtb344 Жыл бұрын
    • Single track is usually the hardest to keep open. Some folks in the USFS that deal with travel management don't want to admit the value riders have for technical single track in awesome country. They would soon close them, rather than take grief from the pro wilderness crowd.

      @davidsalo8397@davidsalo8397 Жыл бұрын
    • It takes privacy and tight lips. Areas of USFS management like the CB area are great and offer riders an abundance of terrain.They however are in the minority. Most USFS agencies are anti dirt bike and would rather close trails than manage them. White River National Forest for instance have a dismal record and cater to the whiney city dwellers who watch this stuff on KZhead and bemoan the actual stewards of the great outdoors.. Be careful who you talk to. Getting "Involved" with your local FS in most cases will get your riding areas closed quicker than the alternative. Remember Government is typically the problem, hardly ever the solution.

  • Love your videos! one thing I thought I'd mention though (unsolicited advice, sorry) is that when you upload a video to youtube at 1080P it uses a different codec than if you upload the video at 4K, and the 1080P codec is significantly worse. Resolution aside, the 1080P codec causes a lot of the block artifacting you get in the video. I'm not sure if the device you're using for recording allows you to record at 4K, but you should give it a try some time. Upload the video to youtube in 4K, and people can still watch in 1080p if they like, but the 1440p and 4K versions will use a better codec and look significantly better.

    @joelblizzard160@joelblizzard160 Жыл бұрын
    • As far as I know KZhead has 2 codecs the crappy AVC1 and the better VP09. All my videos are already in VP09. I do record at 1080P so I have enough space both on my camera and also laptop once I'm editing the videos.

      @PNWEnduro@PNWEnduro Жыл бұрын
    • @@PNWEnduro Oh you're right, I see they're VP09 when I check the stats for nerds section. My bad. For some reason when I've uploaded videos in the past at 1080P it's just automatically done the AVC1 codec. But if I do 4K it always goes to VP09. I guess maybe I'm just noticing the lower resolution on my display as it's fairly large. Keep doing what you're doing! I hope this didn't come across in a negative way.

      @joelblizzard160@joelblizzard160 Жыл бұрын
    • @Joel Blizzard all good man. 4K will force VP09 for all channels, but some get it automatically. Not sure exactly how YT decides who gets it but it must be based on views or regular uploading. There was a few other tricks to force VP09 but YT patched those.

      @PNWEnduro@PNWEnduro Жыл бұрын
    • YT seems to mess w/ things often - this vid (for me, even forcing 1080p/60) looks like AV1 even tho the stats say VP09 - lots of compression artifacts.

  • Are you used to that kind of elevation? Did you notice it at all physically?

    @david92xj@david92xj Жыл бұрын
    • I live near sea level. I did have one night at elevation before this ride. It's strange, I don't feel it much until I hit a technical section and start breathing harder, then I notice it. Even walking around off the bike you can feel it. Some people have a harder time adapting to elevation.

    • @@PNWEnduro Apparently if you render your 1080p footage at 4k, and upload that, views can choose a higher resolution, and the compression artifacts that hurt riding videos is much improved.
