Last week I drove over 2000 miles in my revanna blue van haven swomper, from London to john o'groats plus loads more miles and the 13.5 hours it took me to get to Scotland just flew by. I can hand on heart say I have never felt so comfortable and relaxed as I do when I drive my transporter t6.1 204 dsg lwb highline kombi camper. No one builds a van like the boys at Van haven 🤟👍
Hi . I'm looking at swamper wheels for my van. What makes tyres are you using. I'm reading conflicting opinions. Thanks
The beauty of the Transporter community, I have a T6 and love it, but if I won the lottery tomorrow I'd get a T6.1. Both fantastic vans and both for making incredible memories. Great work chaps.
I would just like to say the sunglasses are Debbie's not mine. Great video Gentlemen.
Grill and lights look amazing on the t6
One thing you didn’t mention is the lack of a foot rest in the t6.1 such a small thing but you really notice it on a long journey
They did. Called the dead pedal
@@ste2529 ahh, I missed that. I’d still put up with it tho
Crazy that they did that!
Cost cutting. It’s a left hand drive vehicle and there’s more from in passenger side
I did 200k+ mile in my t5.1, I’ve now been in my t6.1 for about 3k miles. I do NOT miss the foot rest at all. I did however have the same thought as everyone else “oh, they got rid of the foot rest” when I picked it up then never ever thought about it again. The t6.1 is a much much more comfortable drive, especially for long distances.
Waited 10 months for my LWB kombi DSG , just returned from 4,300mile trip to Portugal to deliver some work, absolutely awesome, could set off again today, often doing 12 hrs driving, adaptive cruise, armrests(single seats) apple play, love this van!
I’d be more than happy with either! Keep living the dream chaps. 🫡👍👏
I love everything about the T6.1 except the lower grill. If I could have the T6 lower grill on a T6.1 , then happy days
Owning a 6.1 and owned a 6 the things I miss about the old van is more dash storage, red dash lights on a night, sun glass holder, heater and of course the footrest but on whole T6.1 is improved softer closing side door ect however the cruise control is annoying as it brakes as soon as approaches a car in the far distance.
I really wish we had them here in the US…
Nice to see my comment on the screen in the video under Jason G! Finally got my LWB Sportline back in December 22 after a 17 month wait! Still miss my 220bhp 1.9tdi T5 which I had for 13 years. Great video guys, loved it. All the best from BuilderJay (Moderator) from the VWT5 forum 👍🏼
Moderator on the t5 forum? Are you serious? 😂😂😂
@@taffpower9347 Go to bed. You have school tomorrow 😂
@@Vwfan I studied at the street university so I know enough to know the t5 forum ain’t got no moderation You just fucking with us 😂
@@taffpower9347 You looking at the right forum? The T4/T5 forum. Not the Facebook one as I’m not on Facebook. I’ve been a moderator for years along with Festa with Pothole as Admin.
I have a T6 204 DSG 4 MOTION as a Volksleisure Camper. 7 years old, best vehicle I’ve ever owned, so versatile. Got the LED conversion and in my opinion front looks better than the 6.1. Effortless performance. If I specced one again I’d definitely have electric latching on tailgate and sliding door. I’d also have suspension upgraded to give better stance and more compliant ride over poor surfaces. Oh, and the Reimo bed is so noisy but it’s on rails and has three seats. Overall I can’t see why I would ever change it.
I think you’ve hit on many great points here. Would love your views on the T5 though! I own one of these and resisting the lift with pride! 😊 Have you ever had one of these through the workshop? Do they float your boat…? 👌💯🤙
Looking forward to seeing a drag race between the vans ,110 5 speed ,a 150 6 speed and a 204 dsg 7 speed ,some vans on 20s ,some vans on stock wheels and some on swomper wheels be keen to see the 0.60s ,the quarter mile and the terminal top speeds of the vans 👍🤟
Both are cool...and I want one for the channel 😀 One day....
I’ve had a 2016 DSG T6 and now got a 2019 DSG T6 and love the transporter so much. They become part of the family. Would like to try a 6.1 with the electric steering to compare. Not sure about the lack of footrest in the 6.1 as I use it all the time in my van. Oh, and couldn’t care less about the environment.
There is no climate crisis so no need to worry about the environment! ☺️
How do these go with dpf and egr cooler issues like most other modern diesels?
Love it
I saw a t6, with the full t6.1 body kit installed. Must be the perfect combination?!
No light on the key fob is my only gripe 😂
The software issues alone with the 5f on T6.1 are enough for me or anyone else to avoid it! Unreliable would be an understatement!
I got an RV based on a 6.1 flatbed with travel boxx cabin, 2.0l tdi 180hp, 4motion with rear diff lock and manual 6 gearbox. Only thing I miss is the old 2.5l 5 cylinder engine, not a fan of the ongoing engine degradation…. Btw, you are still „killing polar bears and glaciers“, even with e-cars, except you only charge them using your own solar panels and disregard the emissions during the production of the van and the destructions caused by lithium mining, then maybe… 🤭
Can someone please tell me is the t,6 the king of transpoters ?? And what brake horse are they,, l have only been in the basic model
Hi Daniel, they do a 110 bhp 5 speed, a 150 bhp 6speed or dsg then the flagship 204 dsg twin turbo. You can have 2wd or 4wd .I have a 204 dsg 2wd van haven supplied van and it's a flying machine as vans go .just at home on the daily commute as they are on the German autobahn. As big vans go they can certainly pick up speed and will most definitely upstage and have cars unaware at the traffic light grand prix 🤟
I would love either ❤ Or a 5.1 or a 5 😂
I cant believe that you still have to put a key in the 6.1, not only that its almost the same key as i had on my passat 25 years ago. come on VW, 6.1 all tech with a 25 year old key!!
I've got a T6.1 and agree about the way VW have cheaped out on some of the finishes. Personally I prefer the style and drive of the T6.1, but still think its still way overpriced for the finish you get. The engine map is awful (150 engine), the power just comes in a lump and not smooth at all. They drive much better remapped but I don't fancy voiding my warranty just yet.
I have a t6.1 204 dsg highline and it pulls like a train. If and when they crack the ecu I will get mine remapped up to 270 bhp .its be a proper flying machine at that point 👍
Trimmed what?
Why take away a footrest? Its not an improvement if its gone!
Unfortunately it's because the floor had to be raised to accommodate the new exhaust system, I have a t6.1 204 dsg and agree it was great on the t6 ,but to be honest I can get just as comfortable with my foot beside the brake pedal. Last week I drove 13.5 hours in my van haven built swamper London to john o'groats and I got out feeling just as comfortable as I did when I got in it at 3am that morning. Perfect long distance cruiser
You’re not killing polar bears you plum!
B....but......but the government says we are and that if we hand over more tax or stop driving ICE then climate change will stop.
😅😅😅
Honestly much to late, T6.1 is history
Wish they sold these in America
All that money and the park drive neutral reverse annoyingly on the left hand side😡
The best van ever would be a T5.1 with the T6 Comfort Dash. Fuel economy from T5.1 onwards is crap. T6.1 is electronic control gone mad, it's just not necessary, why the f... do you need adaptive cruise control? Are you really incapable of judging the speed and distance of preceding traffic? Do us all a favour and take the bus.
Pretty much the same, different face
Both not as good a drive as a Transit custom.
Hi Paul I had a m sport transit crew cab and they did drive brilliantly, my only issue was it was always breaking down .my power steering failed causing me to very nearly crash .the hill start assist came on at 84 mph for no reason on the autobahn and lastly my turbo actuator failed leaving me stranded in Germany. And as so many of the parts are on back order my van had to stay in Germany for 8 weeks while a new part was sourced. Unfortunately that didn't happen then my van was returned to the UK where fords has it for a few more weeks . I'm doing slaging of the fords as I'm a proper old ford skool lover ,I even sold my 1988 ford sierra cosworth estate F20YBT to part fund my van . I have had over 60 cars in my time and only 5 of those have been none fords .I sold my transit and bought a revena blue t6.1 204 dsg highline lwb kombi camper swomper from van haven and its been a dream to own .touch wood the only thing that's gone wrong was a failed ADD BLUE PUMP. But vw had it replaced with 48 hours and or me reporting it and they only needed the van overnight so I was super impressed with that . I'm 12,500 miles in to my 10 months of ownership fingers crossed the next 12,500 miles are just as painless.
If the 6.1 is so good , Why did it only Last 2 years ? .
The T6.1 launched in 2019
