Ref is doing his job by the book! If Brooks was awarded a win, there will be protest. Unfortunately for Brooks, the rule must be abide to protect the athletes. Accidental kicking the balls is illegal even its unintentional. Someone could die in that dangerous move! That is why you get DQ.

No. ONE has set such a broad rule for “spiking” that any throw at all whatsoever can be called a spike at the referees discretion. Why? Because their definition includes the spinal cord in its entirety. All throws are illegal in ONE, they just selectively enforce the rule.

Several people on KZhead have demonstrated why the ref messed up the call on that one. This was a simple and fully legal mat return, Pacio is the one who chose to attack and hang on to the kimura attempt, which is what caused him to not only travel head down, but also to not have his arms in front of him on impact. That title 'win' should be ruled a no-contest and an immediate rematch booked.
In the thumbnail for this video, you can see Pacio's arm over his own head, trying to protect himself from the fall. He obviously let go. It wasn't a kimura but even if you want to insist it was, he clearly wasn't holding onto it.
I said this ish day one and got called every name in the book.

We need to expose how awful ONE’s interpretation of their rules is. Any slam is a spike as they have added the spine to the “spiking” criteria, rending even something like a slam from closed guard a spike
