  • For me this was the biggest and most anticipated fight I’ve seen since I started following boxing. Two unbeaten first ballet HOF fighters meeting at 26 years of age. Both still went onto achieve amazing things in the sport afterwards. It’s just a shame we never got the rematch at 154.

  • I scored this fight 8 to 4, watching it live. That has never changed, not over 30 years of replays. Seven of those eight rounds were so clear cut of Oscar's boxing that simply trying to argue a Tito win marks you as a hater too dumb to pick a better hill to die on. At the time, there was quite a lot of grumbling that ODLH was winning close fights by unjustified margins, as in the Whittaker bout. So the judges went totally the other way in favor of Tito, in a stupid over-correction.

    • So do you think that ODLH in the last 3 rounds, when all he did was run around the ring, deserved to win those rounds? Do you really believe it? Tito went forward in those last three rounds, he looked strong in his attack and ODLA ran out of gas. Maybe, if he had continued fighting like he had from the beginning, I would give him your score and those last three rounds. But that wasn't the scenario.

    • @@wendellcortes1450I said he won 8 rounds and only an idiot wouldn't give him 7. You're arguing about the last 3, as if that changes anything. Furthermore, I actually think Tito swept all of the last 4. 🤷 You are proving my point here. All you people have is "Oscar got on his bike at the end," as if that changes the way Tito's ears were boxed off for 3/4s of the fight. 📉

I don’t know why they don’t just judge a lot of 1st rounds as draws because they are so close and/or nothing happens to distinguish one from the other. So imagine that round where there was no clear winner counting the same as a dominant clear round. I know it is round by round and the amount of dominance is not important, unless it deserves an extra point or something like that, but still. This 1st round should have been a draw, IMO.

  • What a horrible fight. Oscar should have gotten the name Skippy after this one. I think he must have made a thousand laps around the ring skipping. I always wanted Whittaker and Mayweather to lose, and they didn't stand toe to toe much and trade blows. They always boxed, got off first, and reset. Frustrating. But they never did this. This was embarrassing. This was skipping away the whole fight. Not a good look at all for Oscar. And a big disappointment to fans. There's deciding you're going to try to win on points and not really make a fight of it, and then there's this. This was the worst De La Hoya fight I've ever seen, and one of the most disappointing fights there must have ever been, given what the fight could have been. Sorry. Really sorry.

  • Let me make something clear Oscar deserved this L. Because all his career he was a bully. Fought the great chavez like a mean bull all angry and shit. Fought quartey the same way. Heck everyone for that matter like he was a bully. But when it cam eto Tito he was scared. Plain and simple. Instead of going toe to toe like ALL his other fights. He chose to "box"..... Made it a boring fight and then ran the whole fight. He got what a coward like him gets. To bad so sad. Next time be mean with a real mean fighter not with old washed up champs and guys you know you can bully. Tito never did that even against hopkins. Getting his ass whooped he fought like a warrior all the way to the end.. He didn't "box" because hopkins was a big scary dude. He went at him like a true champ does. So you oscar boys get over it.
