  • To an elderly person, $600 dollars is a lot of money...whether you're black or white. The police agency needs to be sued as well. I hope she wins her lawsuit.

  • Banks also take into account the customer's account history. Customer for 50 yrs. and did her account maintained a stable balance or did her account have a history of being overdrawn. She probably had a history of making this same $600 dollar deposit monthly. The most important fact the man doing maintenance on the ATM Machine said he found $600 in the machine that probably didn't go in the canister properly. That was even more reason this woman should have been given a provisional credit. There was absolutely no reason for the customer service representative or teller to treated her this way. She should be fired.

  • The oldest crime in America is being black. So in instances of injustice go after the one thing the powerful understand and that's money. Take them to court. Put them on notice in the media so that others know to stay away from them. This bank, and there are others, don't deserve black money. If what I'm hearing about her police interaction is also true, they too need sued. We want justice and equal treatment and we want it now. To know justice is to know peace. I'm so sorry what this lady, Mrs. Linda Stevens, went through. Being black in America shouldn't hurt as it often does.

The credit union even offered to pay her mortgage for a month. So they, the credit union, is at fault and they know it. I think they offered all that to her after what they did to her because they were trying to avoid being sued. I know everything I just stated about this case because I watched a longer news story about it about a week ago and they went into more detail about the incident.

  • She said she went in with the receipt, demanding to know where that deposit was because they had not posted to her account. Anyone would be justifiably UPSET, especially walking in atm deposit receipt in hand. I'm glad she's taking them to court because RATHER than the management stepping in to profusely apologize and immediately look at the receipt to confirm and corroborate or not their customers' claim. Even though atm was down, if she was ABLE to deposit AND was issued a receipt from the atm, that means the atm camera had to be on during the transaction the day before (in the event their own receipt wasn't proof enough, not to mention the lady was an account holder of 50 years..) They had no business calling the police when they SHOULD and could have de escalated and apologizing for the scare and inconvenience, verifying that receipt and considering their own machine fritzed out and quickly posted this 50 year customer's deposit. The thing IS that credit union would have to have engaged qualified and professional management at the branch which as evidenced by what happened to this poor lady, they did not. So now they will learn from this case.

As for the bank firstly black people need to boycott that bank. Let them see that bank crash and burn. The person who called the police and lied she had a gum needs to be arrested and thrown button naked in jail. Let them see how it feels. Let them sue their frigging behind. All this over her own money???? We all know how The ATM messes up we all know that. But because she dared to speak out after being turned away 3 times they wanted her to bow her head and say yes master, much obliged Masser, they not only called the police they lied because they knew the reaction from the police they knew the animalistic response from the police and boy did they live up to their name. Shameful police and the bank are culpable because there was no gun so why was she rough handled, nose broken and thrown into jail button naked for a day and a half.all y'all imagine thus was your mother or grandmother? • They do that in Florida because I went to housing authority to get paperwork after they shoved me out of the home illegally while claiming my belongings are theirs as they claim the unit was abandoned by tenant and all the sudden would make claims that they were threatened with a handgun as most of them family related heard that I had a license to legally own one after the fact a lady tried to get cops to do her bidding three times before and after Irma when her relatives caught her leaving her sons down there without being prepared as a retaliatory thing. And for some reason anyone who isn’t a cop is asking “are you armed and have a camera because I don’t consent to being recorded” course they don’t consent to be recorded because the video can be used as evidence that they militarized the police for their own benefit. Only thing they have is a binder full of gibberish that isn’t evidence it’s a bunch of little petty crud and broken text from a voicemail system. Doesn’t even mention the “had issues with him having cameras” part and nothing was even videoed on their end. Basically the landlord got mad when I showed her a high water bill and how she refused to fix the pipes and videoed her coming in snapping photos of everything electronic and decided to repeat what family had to say which then lead to their offices repeating whatever they heard. Like when my bro attempted to assault me they were reacting his side of the story while ignoring his moms side. Funny because last I checked his mom called cops on him when I left the first time they must have didn’t hear about that one.

There are ATM reports that will align that receipt which has an transaction number that align to ATM reports. Those reports will tell you if that was a valid deposit. When that machine is settled and it is not over $600 we would then contact the customer and decide whether or not to reverse that credit. This bank what they did was illegal and morally wrong. Where I worked we would have never treated a customer that way.

  • It's not the amount of the money involved - it's about lack of respect for Black people. here we have a 70 year old black woman - she deposited $600 into the ATM - the ATM Malfunctioned - she got her receipt as PROOF-PROOF-PROOF of her deposit which did not register cause the ATM was defective - she talk with banking management - they totally disregarded her claim, even with the ATM receipt as PROOF. Then they call the Cops - Cops said she was disturbing the Peace and resisting arrest - they throw this lady face first into the squad car - broke her nose and put her in a cell naked!!!! WTF... I hope this lady sue the Bank and Police department for $1 billion dollars.... I would sue for the MAXIMUM - I would sue for a Trillion Dollars....

  • The Case of The Black KAREN: She was panicked for sure that her mortgage payment would bounce, which could have caused her to lose her home. On her THIRD visit to the bank, she refused to leave without her 600 in cash or alternatively deposited into her bank account. Rather than get a supervisor to help correct the matter, they call the police and tell them she's got a gun! They were determined to teach this Karen a lesson because all it takes these days to be a Karen is to be born female and speak up for your rights. The initial Karen meme was based on a racist white woman ordering a black couple out of her neighborhood, and they filmed it and that Karen was atrocious. Somehow, a Karen has devolved into: Any woman who refuses to get walked on, who speaks up when something is wrong or unjust. We are in the process of Devolving, intellectually at least. Edit: Dear Ms. Stevens, Praying for you, your family, and all who support you
