    • @@lzrd8460I mean, Drew has earned his success and I love seeing him restore and furnish his home in a way that respects its history. But, it’s also nice to have him do content like this, given the majority of his audience probably can’t afford to purchase many of the types of pieces that he’s getting for his house.

  • Thanks for this video Drew. FYI, I did a fair bit of research when looking for a new set of dishes and discovered that IKEA dishes and glassware have some of the lowest levels of lead. This is something we all should be especially aware of when picking up vintage china as some may contain large amount of lead. BTW, traditionally trained designer or not you have the skills of a professional designer. LOVE your channel. ❤

  • OMG Drew, I am so sorry your house required an expensive repair. Old houses are full of "surprises" but they are so worth the extra trouble. The architectural interest and quality of construction can't be beat. Your house was built when houses were built to LAST, even if they do need a bit of help from time to time. You are battle-tested and proven to be able to handle anything :)

  • A tour of IKEA is always fun and they have a lot of great designs. The drawback for me is that their case goods are MDF with just a thin wood veneer. They look nice to begin with but do not always age well because the MDF can warp and it adds a lot of weight to the piece. . To be honest, I much prefer your vintage pieces that are all natural wood and that have a patina that only time can impart. I love furniture and view each piece as an investment, so I always go for quality and would only fall back on IKEA pieces if I couldn't find the right piece in better quality. Probably the only exception to that is something like you did with making your IKEA bookshelves look like expensive built-ins. That would have been so much more expensive in high-end custom units so it made perfect sense to go the route you did.

  • You are a designer. Your house is beautiful. Because you have designed it yourself. I love KEA. But the closest one to me is in Atlanta. And we don’t go there. Too much traffic, and kind of dangerous. But before we moved to Georgia, we had one in Ohio that was about forty five minutes away. I loved going and walking all over. I actually would love a sofa from there with a slip cover. My husband hates the sofa a bought a few years ago. He complains about the back cushions being too big and there’s nowhere for you bottom. But we hate putting the furniture together. I did buy my oldest grandson a red moose toy he could sit on and rock. He loved that thing. And I think they may still make them.

  • Maybe when you speak about the more modern pieces (orange chair and white side table ) you should look more in the designers behind. Vintage ikea and the new vintage collection they display is very interesting. ( like all the designs vom Mr. Gammelgaard for example. The old furniture pieces from him sell up to quite a bit money these days)

  • FYI design tips: 1. Include the 3 -B's, Books, Brass & Black.......2. Arrange in groups odd numbers, i.e., 1-3-5-7 etc.......3. Arrange items in a zig zag pattern, i.e., using books as an example, which ever side you place the first grouping, place on the opposite side on next shelf, continue pattern......4. Hanging drapes/curtains close to ceiling & 6 -12 inches from side of windows [where possible].......6. And last, plants. alive or artificial makes the dwelling feel lived in. Always enjoy your videos.

  • Just a little FYI: I visited an IKEA store in Dubai three years ago and the prices for the same items there were a fraction of what they are in the US and the store was absolutely fabulous. They can get away with charging so much more in the US because all the prices here are insane, so they have no reasonably priced competition. .

    @dao8805@dao880513 күн бұрын
    • It's interesting that the prices differs so much. I got curious and compared some of the items I saw in the video with the prices we have here in Sweden, and the prices where about the same, a dollar off here or there.
