@@Dane-ish I actually like it, because I can see when I am in old 4G LTE area when phone displays "LTE" or the faster 4G LTE when my phone displays "5GE". Its 4G Advanced because it is 4G LTE running on 5G infrastructure. So no its not full 5G, but it is definitely faster than the standard 4G.

As ever, for those coming from an iPhone that's three years old, this'll feel like a decent jump. For those coming from one that's over five years old, it'll be a massive jump. For less than three years, it's probs not worth it. Imo this is fine.

@Megatron EX1127 water/dust proof, edge to notch screen, Face ID, dual cameras, built in stereo speakers, OLED screen, and 5 generations worth of apple silicon are things from the top of my head the 12 has over a 6S. I get why from a XS or 11 its not much of an upgrade, but a 6S!?
I’m upgrading from a broken 7 plus to the pro! I am sure i’ll be more than satisfied with the pro!

Dude whoever writes these reviews which dieter does are very well written and he presents it in a very good and critical way. I mean, he literally asked the most important question in the first few seconds, "does this new stuff really matter?" That's good!
he writes them himself. And he does an article version for The Verge's website. What a dope dude
"That's good!". Mate, the review is full of 'but's and compromises and he STILL recommends it. How is that a good review? How Apple continues to get away with several year old features for premium prices is beyond me! Still no expandable storage, still no 120Hz, FINALLY gets OLED in the mainstream phone, still no included fast charger. These are STANDARD features in much cheaper phones! Heck, the Samsung S20 FE is $350 AUD cheaper and includes ALL of those things I mentioned. This is a terrible review pretending to be a good one.

What’s the fascination with being able to charge “wirelessly” and use the phone at the same time. How’s that more practical than actual using the cable, which gets less in the way and surely charges faster??

@@alejandroislas4803 the only convenient use case to me is when you get in the car, tuck it away in the dashboard and get the phone's in-car experience through the car infotaiment screen
MagSafe would be a lot less prone to breaking and twisting. You also would not have to worry about yanking the charger.

@@VinceIsDatBitch but you would probably continuously misalign it, since it’s not as strong as it looks. And just get a longer cable if that’s your user case, like I did since I wanted to use it in bed

5G is not a big feature. The real improvement should have been in the Battery, 120 Hz Displays and the USB-C port.

Well let’s you use the phone which in my opinion is better than not being able to to unless you have a standing wireless charger. Apple is obviously training people to get used to wireless charging for the eventual removal of the lightning port.

Not likely from what MKBHD showed the magnet doesn’t seem that strong, the wallet attachment comes off while trying to put in the pocket. A little shake also takes it off the MagSafe so car mounts will definitely not work either.

@@nazmulshuvo4986 I bet car mounts can work when come with stronger magnets. Magsafe, since it was on mac, was never designed to be strong. It was aimed to provide safety and convenience connecting & disconnecting. And this one on iPhone should be in similar positioning. Since sticking power of magnet doesn't depend only on iPhone side, they can definitely make magnet on the other side plentifully strong it one-sidedly holds iPhone. We'll see if Belkin can keep the promise.
@@iastyle7 you could run an electro magnet off the car's power. Then when theres a power cut amidst the other problems your phone would fall on the floor. Clipping it in to a holder makes so much more sense than magnets

Honest? This review is full of "but"'s and compromises, and yet somehow it's still being praised as the "new default"?? Finally gets an oled panel, finally gets a higher resolution display, iOS finally catches up to Android customisation.. this is a PREMIUM phone, and to justify these shortcomings is absurd. You could buy the Samsung S20 FE for $350 AUD less than the iPhone 12, and it has a better display, 120Hz, better battery life, expandable storage, comes with a super fast charger.. like seriously!? I feel sorry for anyone who can rationalise supporting Apple at these price points.

@@christopherkinslow5432 I have around 20 lightning to type A cables laying around. They work perfectly on every single iOS device that uses a lightning port including the iPhone 12. Alas there’s no type c port in my car and not in any cars or most computers. There never was a reason for a type c cable, but to force people to buy the more expensive charger. The type a cable works fine. Unless you really need to fast charge the phone.

It is so obvious that Apple is soon going to remove the port and go full wireless charging via Magsafe. Then sell you their own 120 dollars charger.
Magsafe charging is pretty dope tbh, but the thing is the charger has the chord attached to it! If u brake the chord (which will very likely happen) you gotta buy a new one, they could have used a usb-c instead or lighthing even.
